My first race at RD and i got messed it up. :(

After only 3 hours of sleep (the practice started at 10 AM here in Germany), i was far from being perfectly prepared to drive an enduro race. Quali went ok so far, thanks to a slightly modified Nordschleife-setup.
After the start i was on a promising position in first third of the field - until i missed a braking point and later spun out at the first chicane in the second lap . With i stalled engine literally parked on the track, i've caused a huge crash.

--I'm Deeply sorry for the guy (don't know who it was) who ran in me.--

After that madness i drove the race at dead last, lost over a minute in that lap. The Vette-V8 was heavily damaged, therefore i could only managed lap times in the high 2:20 min. Later in the race i catch up a little bit, mainly because these guys had real issues with there cars and got blue flagged in th last but one lap.
Amazing to see the tight fight at the first 2 places - impressive stuff.

Hope to race with you soon again.

I slightly change the format to 2x12laps instead of a full hour. It might give everyone a little more time on the track:)

I thought this to be a full on 'survival of the fittest' hour and was ready to 'fight' and now you changed it:crying:.
Wheheh don't worry about it but sorry to say i am not feeling real 'sprinty' tonight.
Maybe i'll come in and watch you guys, but i doubt i will race...real sorry:disapointed:

Wow, that must be my best race ever. And Jarrod's skin brought me luck yet again.
This was a fantastic track for these GTP beasts, very high speed and plenty of white knuckle stuff. :laugh2:
I chose a no stop strategy but with the Viper that meant a huge fuel load and a high potential for tyre wear. During practice I used the race fuel load to test it out, and was surprised to be within reach of the top guys.

Qualy: Managed a clean lap for P2, but the top three were amazingly close, Pascal, Michael and I were all within a few hundredth's of each other.

Race: My main aim was to keep the Viper clean and conserve tyres. Managed a good start, and held P2, before Pascal went off wide and gave me the lead, but I had Michael all over me, making it hard to concentrate on my patient race strategy. :). Michael, Dave and I staged a great scrap out front for about 15 laps before Michael pitted. That left me just behind Dave for most of the race, I could keep with him but my tyres started to wear later, but I think Dave was having similar problems. As the race went on, I could see Jari slowly catching me, but just as I was planning to try to attack Dave, he advised that he had fuel problems. So I backed off a touch to see how he went. Sadly, Dave ran out of fuel with 1 lap left (huge bad luck mate ). That gave me the lead but with Jari still closing, I was getting nervous with the tyres not too flash now. I almost gave the race to Jari by going off track in one of the last turns, but I held on to take the win. :highfive:
I was physically and mentally exhausted after this race, but what a race it was. Big thanks to Dave and Michael for the close clean racing together, and to everyone who joined.
