I know we are all excited for this release. What I don't know is how many people intend to a) play it on the xbox one and b) would like to join some sort of a formal league here at Race Department.

There are so many possibilities, I've had to calm myself down from getting lost in them. However, my main passion, IndyCar, will probably not be able to be run until the DLC with the ovals comes to the Xbox One.

That said, what sort of series would you like to see? Personally, ones that come to mind are Tudor United Sports Car Series, WEC, British Touring Car, and DTM. One of these could fill the gap for me until IndyCar is possible, but others may have better ideas.

Please indicate below if you are interested and what sort of times you are available and which series' you prefer. We could follow the actual schedule of many a series, due to the timing of the release. Personally, if they get the ovals out before IndyCar starts, I'll probably turn my focus there, but nothing would prevent running another alongside.

The anticipation is killing me!

Hi chaps, hoping Paddock Chat is best place for this:

My first venture into Project Cars 2 online soon and I’m intent on joining your series to start out my sim racing career. Being based in the UK, the timings are favourable for me for various reasons. Also, I’m yet to purchase a wheel setup (with Black Friday around the corner, any suggestions welcome...) and have limited online racing experience on another title. Panic.

Definitely unable to participate for a couple of weeks as currently away with work; once home I can work on selecting a car and entering the AM class for sure. Hopefully I’ll have time to practice and enter for Watkins Glen although certain for Silverstone and Spa rounds prior to Christmas. The AMG and NSX appeal most.

Not entirely sure on a few things regarding liveries / race numbers / teams etc so any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers,
BTW

Started pretty well, was very impressed everyone got through the first chicane without any contact. Well done everyone, that is how it is done. Had an initial battle with Ben through the first few bends, but he started pulling away a little, so I had to watch as he passed Adam and Gaz, not close enough to take advantage. I started to close on Adam and had a move coming out of parabolica, but the McLaren was too quick. Adam turned the defence into offence and had a slipstream to pass Benji.

Later in the lap I managed to get past Benji out braking him into the 1st chicane. I didn't get the greatest of entries into the 2nd chicane and lost a little speed, but got a tap off Benji, causing me to counter steer and it put me wide onto the grass. That is why I was flashing my lights lol. I have to apologise to Benji though, at the end of the straight he seemed a little cautious braking and it caught me off guard, as I braked in my normal spot. Unfortunately as it became apparent I was closing on Benji, I had nowhere to move to, I did try and move over to the left as much as I could, in the hope his car would turn for the corner, but caught the back of him just before he turned. I think I had a wheel on the grass when it happened, as my car spun. I was in the process of trying to regain the car and it seemed to keep rolling for some reason. Ramsey couldn't avoid me, hitting hard and my car did a pirouette. I think this caused Gaz to catch Ramsey too, apologies to both, my car was out of control at this point.

Car had major damage, so I limped around to the pits to be faced with my AI going past my pit box, hand braking into the pit wall, then carrying on out of the pits. Had to limp another lap with even more damage now, then managed to pit, but this was lap 12 I think? Took tyres and as much fuel as I could and got my head down. Passed a few during pit stops, but I was already over a minute behind. Pitted again later, but made a miss-calculation and didn't take enough fuel to finish. I was ahead of Liam at this point, trying to put doubt in his mind I could run to the end, but due to this error had to pit for fuel. Hello/goodbye pit crew. My AI drove past them again!, so had to nurse the car around to get fuel for the last few laps. I got to the pits with 0.2l in the tank. My AI managed to stop properly this time. 5 pit stops later I finished in 8th, it could have been so much more I think.

It is a long season, so plenty of time to catch up.

I wasn't expecting you to get such a poor exit, and I couldn't turn right any faster
I'm still in shock your car got flipped on its side. not something you expect to see in your mirror during a league race.

Welcome!

I know people will have lots of differing opinions in terms of wheels (Michaels probabaly best to ask) but I would definitely recommend the Thrustmaster 458 Spider wheel as a non- force feedback entry level option. I’ve had mine for coming up to three years now and it’s been solid, no issues and it’s competive. Force feedback wise I would recommend th Thrustmaster TX but there’s a whole list of other options that can compare. Just depends on what you want to spend.

In terms of Cars I’ve heard people say that the NSX is very quick at certain track layouts, and as of yet no ones in it so it would be a great pick, same with the AMG. Livey wise I would check to see what other people are running to make sure you don’t clash but if that’s your car pick it shouldn’t be a problem.

Look forward to getting out on track with you. Let me know if you ever want to practice.

GT is HaveBlue112

I would agree with Mark. I started out with the Spider and as as an entry level budget wheel it is excellent and hard wearing. Some really fast guys use it so it's no disadvantage in that respect.

I moved on to the Thrustmaster TX when I wanted to move up to a FFB wheel and have never regretted it. There is also the little brother of the TX, the TMX which has FFB but is slightly less featured than the TX and I know guys that are using that and love it too so I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Good luck with whatever you choose, hopefully you can pick up a great deal next week. Apart from Black Friday it's also Cyber Monday following it so keep your eyes peeled

There are currently several choices for wheels. Thrustmaster has the Spider (non-FFB) TMX-Pro, TMX, TX, and the TS-XW. All of the Xbox wheels are PC compatible. The TX, and TS-XW can have different Rim's installed as well as other peripherals such as Upgraded pedals and Shifter. There is also an Entry from Logitec G920 and If you have lots of dollars you can get a Fanatec. I've driven the AMG and the NSX and I absolutely love the NSX but it doesn't have a lot of straightline speed. But the car is probably the best handling car out there and will be really good on handling tracks. The AMG only has Striaghtline Speed but lacks a bit on tight tracks as the car feels heavy and non-compliant at times. The NSX will do everything you want right of the box. Pick whatever livery you want. I think all the NSX's are open except one.

You should have seen the view I had :roflmao: To be honest, I was surprised the car was still drive able. I was expecting a wheel or two off at least.

Appreciating all the comprehensive responses; seemingly I was in the right ball-park looking at the Thrustmaster TX as I'd like to go straight in to FFB. The Fanatec kit looks incredible but I think I'll settle on something within my budget as I'll still need to get a seat setup to compliment the wheel package.

The GT drivers at Macau opened my eyes to the AMG - did quite well in qualifying (locked out the top four spots) but I have to remember PC2 isn't identical! The NSX sounds like something I should start out with as I'd prefer handling bias over speed initially.

How do I go about selecting a race number or is it one that comes with the livery?
