Slightly Mad Studios has officially announced a sequel to Project Cars today as Project Cars 2 is now official, and the WMD crowdfunding campaign has gone live.

Apparently the first big difference with the first title is that PCars 2 will feature off-road racing, along with Touge and Hillclimb events.

The crowdfunding tool-packs, which you can see on the WMD page, start from 50 British pounds and go all the way to 10,000 pounds.

Here's the shortlist of the PCars 2 features:
  • THE LARGEST TRACK ROSTER EVER – 50 unique locations and 200+ courses including ‘loose surface racing’ on dirt, gravel, mud, and snow. All will have dynamic time of day and weather allowing you to play anytime, anywhere
  • THE WIDEST VARIETY OF MOTORSPORTS with 8 different disciplines now including Rallycross, Hillclimbs, and Touge. 200+ cars from over 40 different vehicle classes including never-before-seen Concepts and Banned Race Cars
  • CO-OP CAREER – Play as the Teammate Driver, Spotter, Driver Swap, or Co-Pilot. More choices, more opportunities, more strategy, greater risks and greater rewards
  • SEAMLESSLY CONNECTED – Socialize and compete via Online Track Days, have players from around the world take the place of AI-controlled drivers in your solo play, and get news updates on the Driver Network around you
  • PRO ESPORTS RACING – Skill & Behavioural-based matchmaking, create your own Online Racing Leagues, and Live Broadcast and Spectator functionality
  • YOUR HOME FOR RACING – Your own personal, customisable Test Track to tune and test your cars. Invite others to showcase your passion for racing and learn race craft and engineering with the Project CARS Academy

"Unfinished and broken" ... if you rate pCARS1 that way you will hardly find any modern racing title that isn't unfinished or broken in some way.

"Planned obsolescence" ... I think you overstress that term concerning software development. If you rate software like this then no development or technical progress could ever take place because it makes your investments in older stuff (hard- and software) dispensable at some point. But "planned obsolescence" means that someone builds a product that way that something breaks within a certain period so you have to buy something new to replace it, isn't it?

If I understood SMS right one of the reasons they decided to bring a complete new build of pCARS, named pCARS2 was that they want to include complete different kinds of tracks than today and that means that they have to improve, rewrite etc. the game engine - otherwise no loose surface tracks could be build or handled within the current engine ... maybe they don't tell the truth at all, but they have choosen this way and all we could do is trust or not trust them and buy or leave their products...
pCARS already has loose surface physics. Put all 4 wheels on the grass and you're grippy as hell. All they have to do for pCARS2 is to remove the silly penalties for going on the grass and they're in for a winner.

and how about "surface area deformation"?

Ah. The sweet use of buzzwords :)

If they could get this to work properly however it would make sense in an off-road simulation. For rallycross and the like, you really don't have that much "deformation". I am thinking of realtime mesh alterations when i hear it, like in Spintires for instance...

That is not really what happens to rallycross tracks, the only deformation you have is loose gravel swept off the surface, like dust.

But it is a nice tech piece to give to journalists. I mean, you never race in a thunderstorm monsoon rain in real life either, if you catch my drift...

What does this have to do with the fact that people felt ripped and now express themselvs on the forums.
Everybody should say"" ...ah well i got burned,no biggie, lets move on..."" ?
There is nothing to stop this kind of behavior...
If u state something, officialy,i trust you on your word and give you my money to find out after i got the product that i was decived..how is this right?
Look at the mess it was at the release for all platforms.
The flame will steady get lower over time on this situation but people will not forget....i bet my hat that the next game pCars 2 will not reach the half of the pCars1 sales.

I'm not implying anythjng, especially with the business end
but after all it's still business
Well I guess it's a thing like, it's a few bucks, maybe some tossed up more
but it doesn't stack up to the
ultimate, undeniable
joy
of having a sim to wash your worries away
Albeit temporarily
and even those who have mega-sims
even these guys are chasing the eternal sim/rig/system
Always will be
Just enjoy life and relax

What problems you have with this awesome sim? You already informed SMS about those issues or just us? AI sucks, who cares about AI, online races sucks, who cares about online races as also many of racers sucks so badly (can't drive). I think that the most biggest problem for HC drivers is that everything is crypted and you can't cheat with this sim and you lost your awesome speed, am I right?

So you don't use it for races agianst the AI and you don't use it for online MP racing. You must be one of these guys that just tries to post the fastest hotlaps with track cutting and 3rd person behind the car view just to get the best times? Am I right?
If you feel that many of us online racers suck so bad, why don't you join us here at the RaceDepartment for nice clean online races if you are so good?

Yep, you are the ideal Pcars user.

That´s one of the most dissapointing things about PCARS. Sometimes it feels like a Codies F1 game. You go up Eau Rouge with two wheels on grass and there´s grip. You go through Pouhon with two wheels on grass, same story.

Better to let him express his frustrations. Some people just can't understand how much faster people can be...

No and Yes. First, i'm one of the fastest driver in this planet and I don't cheat, few years ago I did laps nobody else didn't, speed is still there. Second PC is the only sim you can really enjoy just driving, I don't miss any races with this sim, it is just like I owns all those supercars, no other sim offers this. If you don't like PC so I can't help you, for me it's perfect. I don't care if some Ian Bell makes money, who is Ian Bell anyway, never heard...

Note that if Kunos add more grip to AC surfaces so I will love it also as much as I love PC, current solution sucks only because of poor grip, all cars are almost horrible to drive fast. There's so nice mods but the game ruin them...

Buying a sim just for hotlapping is like hiring an escort just to look at.

Everybody's free to enjoy the game however they like of course. I just think you're missing out ;)

I bet he doesn´t really think or do that. TT is the only thing the game does functionally (except track limits detection LOL) so he has to sell that part.

..

You are not one of the fastest drivers on the planet. Don't kid yourself. Racing is where it's at. Not endless goes at hot lapping, bouncing off barriers and kidding your self that you are fast. It's all in your own imagination.
Try racing and then see how rubbish you are at it. I did.;)

I was PrestoGP world class F1 driver and team member 2010 before league change sim, from Race07 to Rfactor1, because I hate Rfactor1 and that used F1 mod with poor tire model then so I didn't continued with that but I did European and Oseanian F1 league races after that and so many Club Races that I can't remember. Then Race 07 lost too much people for other sims so I let that online racing, there was also some issues with rookie drivers but that's another story.

As I said several time before I have 16 years experience with racing simulators and also Guru status with race track modding so I really know how fast I am. If you can find something faster than F1 cars so please let me know so I can start learning some lessons, thanks.

I like online racing but only with the best drivers I can trust they dont do anything foolish like Alonso did for Kimi last sunday. I believe that with you racing is non-stop crashing all the time so thanks but no thanks.

I also use AI to find more speed but if AI is not work so I don't use it.

SMS did great work with PC, it only costs less than 50 euros so that's nothing if you think how much work that sim needed all these years, thousands of hours, long days and nights and youd just vomit on them, shame on you!

I didn't realise you were famous. I do apologise. Any chance of getting your autograph? :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
