PC Upgrading Discussion

Ok guys, tx. It's just that my technician mailed me the list through from what he thinks should be ok. but i mailed him already back about the memory stuff. :)

So if i go for the bad cooled graphics card, will i have problems?

Actually he is :D he just called me and said he ordered the one you showed me, together with the Modxstream!! wooot. Those are the last pieces of the puzzle and they will be here on tuesday.

i would've went after them myself but no time to spare at the moment for such trips. And my little BMW is coughing a bit so... ;)

Btw mind him, he's just a teacher in informatica :p

Greetings guys and tx again for updating me on this pc world, and for the massive help!!

In a week i'm back racing around on this board!! wooot

And it's actually a bit sooner... On mostly my old system... for now :)

the guy thought after alot off testing it was my mobo too. But today he called me it's working again, with a new power supply and some new connectors in the pc aswell (some were pulled out of their socket and were just hanging there... that's why he thought the mobo was gone too. But he spotted some lose connectors when he was deassembling the pc. Hahah!! So for now my old rig is back in use... My god i'm happy :)

And the new one coming in a week... Oh boy i feel spoiled now, after almost being fried to death... Hmm

iT appears that the CPU in the specs above is on backorder til mid september. thats too long so I'd like to change the package a bit.

Which of these processors can I substitute? E7500 or E7600? or E8400?

They all seem similar to me reading the specs but I don't really understand the differences except the price.............:doh2:

thanks for the help guys!

Hey Eric
if you want to keep it cheap I suggest go with the E7500
but if you don't mind giving out some extra cash, then I suggest the E8400. It is a top of the line processor/has better performance (I personally have this one :))

Damian quicker than me :)

:)

BTW Eric
I don't have experience with mail in rebate, but if you are familiar with that or actually know how to work with it (well), then I may suggest some alternative product to go with the E8400 CPU (and give some or a lot of extra boost on your new pc than previous intended :))

Graphics card

PSU

I think psu should handle it, unless Damian has another thought of this

OK I took the shot in the wallet and ordered it w/ the E8400 and the two items you recommended above Chris. IN the end it's $100 USD more after shipping and rebates but it's worth it in the end to have a good machine.

Here comes those nice high frame rates! good bye to 16 FPS!

Yeah, guys. I have some questions as well. What should i run on the system you guys put together for me.

I now know that if i want to go for XP, it should be the 64 bit one, because otherwise 6gig ram is pointless.
But 64 bit on XP, isn't that looking for problems?

And then there's vista.... Breeding ground for problems...

Go tthe new PC assembled and loaded w/ windows 7.

Let the windows install run while we went out for lunch. Found out it is a 32 bit appilcation? did we miss a prompt during install to select 64?

Also, a small magnetic ring was included for putting cables thru to decrease interference. wellit fell and broke into 3 pieces.....what cables are supposed to have the ring around it anyhow? does it really matter?
