EDIT: Budget is 800 Euros preferred, for a system that's good on the performance graphics area with Intel cpu, XP, and asus for motherboards, Ati for graphics (best partner i've ever had... 4 years no problem at all)

And if it's possible Belgium. :)

Ok guys, some off you may know now, my pc is death.

I was looking in this thread for ideas and this one struck me by Michael. This system he posted has had good replies and seems to be on a nice budget. I think i would go for smth like this...

How would it be now? Are there better parts out there a year after this post?

this one has potential, but (there is always a but :)) the graphics card is missing. It actually has an internal graphics card, which for me is a no go on that. you would have to buy a graphics card on the side (although it might be that this integrated graphics card is better than avarage...but still a no go..)

I don't mind adding a card Chris.

now this last one is great also. On an old processor (2 to 3 year old), but a good one with a good motherboard (although the motherboard said in the specification and detailed feature are 2 different motherboard, but still good). but it is above the budget (unless you have upped it a bit, then we can take a look again on this budget and see what we can deliver

Is it over priced Chris? I am hoping to not have to assemble the entire system and deal with any compatibility issues by shopping a la carte. Am I off base?

I guess my realization that if you spend a little more now you get more life later is hitting home. I would rather spend just a bit more now and not have to deal with another PC changeover later. Re constructing your PC is like moving your house and I just hate it.

hope this helps[/QUOTE]

@Eric

Can you afford to add a video card in the system? If you can would be better to do it that way I guess, but I would rather buy it separate as they will probably charge a bit more for them to put one in for you.

Minimum you would want is:

Bert, you know of any online PC stores in Belgium you prefer ? Maybe Cris better at sorting it out as he's near your neck of the woods :p

as Damian said :):)

sometime it is better to look at loose parts and with our help, there won't be no compatibility issues on hardware side. You will be most likely cheaper out.....plus most likely ever part has its own guaranty (which for me is a positive side of buying single hardware parts)
actually now that I have taken a second look (yesterday was tired lol :)), I see that there is no harddrive on both pc's of the last 2 links, which can be at least @ $50 extra besides the graphics card

but as I said, if you have put a bigger budget then previously said, then Damian or me for sure can set up something extra and more powerful

@ Damian....lol for sure
will look at it

Actually i don't, haha

My system now is already 4/5 years old. Correct, was...

I knew in that time there was a store in Gent with cheap online parts for sale, mostly graphics cards, but for the rest... I was pretty much ok with what i had so didn't look further. Except for an upgrade on graphics two yrs ago ATI x1950 pro was the one i bought.

I was always a budget men, lol. Just so that i could race is enough, but it has to be on high settings and all...

I don't know where 800 euros fits in though... Is that alot, or a bit normal, for a good sim pc? Damn i should've updated myself with this info through the yrs.

Tx for the advice in advance guys :)

well I went with a komplett side for now just to check, but without a new case tough, and I came up with around 808 euro with a Core i7 and a 4850 in it

http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=350472
http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=361772
http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=331024

I need to go out for a couple of min/hour....when I'm back I will look deeper and also the dutch sites that I trust to see which one will be cheaper. (that is if Damian have not look deeper into it :):p)

You picked some good stuff for sure, but I would hardly say more budget stuff, for example can save 20 euro's and get this ram:
http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=449943

7 Euro's on this PSU ( Which I would personally get ahead of the CoolerMaster, both great though )
http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=452036

And use the money saved for a faster HDD:

http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=343054

4870: ( Strange one, only 6 euro's more then that 4850 :S )
http://www.komplett.be/k/ki.aspx?sku=361773

Maybe cheaper Mobo:

OH boy more fun! I am busy for today but lets discuss later. thanks for the help!

@ Damian......lol np here (some are not available right now, but still are ok )
Bert I have been looking at a dutch webshop that is located in Eindhoven, don't know if you have a car, but if you do it might be a good choice to go pick it up
else they deliver up to your home for 19 euro or so
this is with the antec 900 case

if you want to keep it 800 or below that, then we will look at the core 2 quad...np for that

@ Eric....for sure I will help then later on

I would get all this but change two things, OCZ PSU, save some more money:

And 4890 :D

Sorted :)
