My 2nd PC had a problem where the GTR-E would crash on game entry, now I load Race07 which doesn't have any problems. Do you only own Race and GTRE? Try loading the other one if you do.

I did vista repair - reinstalled race07/gtrE and loaded all mods/tracks again from scratch....And its working ok now !? must of been corrupt file/files or something ? ? very bloody frustrating this PC lark isnt it !!!!

let me say thanks to all who posted on this thread for your help an support
with my poblem... cheers guys ! :wink2:

only advice i can give is try 169.** drivers and lower your Graphics settings, mine runs fine on low but as soon as i set then to medium its freeze city :(

oh my god :jaw: did'nt realise how much my chip was holding things back..
previous chip is now to be covered in mayonnaise a task more fitting with its power :rotfl:
:hail: goes out to damian and anyone else who put any input in,gone from all low settings at 25/30 fps to 70/100 fps mostly high ingame.(no shadows but they cant keep up anyway) haha :lying:
time to build a race seat and spend lots of time in the german hills :D

hi i've seen 1 of these xfx8800gs 384ram going cheap and was wonder what it would be like in sli? or should i wait and go for something like a 9800 range with 512 ram?
would having sli be a big step up in graphics ? never seen sli run before so dont know what it'll do.which would give biggest boost ..
thanks mel

after a long hard think and lots of recommendations and posts from some of you guy's I finally chose a spec to build :rotfl:
so here it is....

* AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Black Edition
* 4GB DDR3 OCZ
* ASUS M4A79-T Deluxe Board
* ASUS 2GB Radeon HD 4870X2 TRI
* SAMSUNG 1TB HDD
* SAMSUNG Sata DVD drive x 2
* 700W True Hi end PSU
* 64 bit Vista
* Coolmaster Case ( not the big one :laugh2: )
should have it by saturday 20th June.

No i7? or was that someone else lol ? Anyway will be nice rig , but you won't have much upgradablility in future without having i7 socket but think that was another guy with more money? I cant remember....

The AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Black Edition is brand new and is not yet
listed on most sites and I am told it will rivel the i7 and will be better
for gaming as thats all this rig is for noting else
but im only telling you what ive been told and advised thats all as I couldnt find it listed anywhere ...
as for money iv not really saved that much between this spec an the i7 spec probably £90 if that so the money wasnt ever the isue
it was getting the right rig for me and my needs
plus some poeple its INTEL and others AMD a bit like FIFA and PRO EVO
but all in all I think it will be good and hold up in the future :good:

well Chris without getting into to AMD vs Intel thing.... Intel clearly stands out but the price differance it give it more than a run for it's money your find shows that.. and because of that iv been able to go higher on my board and card and saved £90 ish..
I mean you guys know your stuff when it comes to this sort of thing
ive chosen AMD yes because its cheaper and it can do more than i will need it for thats all... :coffee2:

The AMD will do you fine, but as I was saying earlier with the i7 socket you will be able to upgrade to something much better in the future when it's needed where with the Phenom socket your ganna be pretty stuck and need a whole new board and cpu when you next want to upgrade.

The Phenom II will do you good for the meanwhile though, or though it will be produce more power and heat , so more on your electricity bill.

The i7 is more expensive but you get what you pay for, a faster CPU which runs cooler uses less power and is much more future proof.

AMD is not catching at all to Intel at the moment. Actually, the gap is only getting bigger. AMD's latest and greatest can barely compete on performance with Intel's from about 6 months ago (their 6 cores/socket < 4 Nehalems). The Nehalem EX will be the final nail in the coffin. AMD's problem is that it is slowly bleeding $$$ every quarter while even in this tough economical times Intel still makes $1billions dollars per quarter (that's profit).
