What is it you exactly want to do?

Do you want to ADD skins to the current ones, or do you want a new team to be available, selectable with JUST the team members you create?

If you want to add them to the class list, you can use the .ini example Erik posted. If you want them to appear as a seperate class, you need to do a bit more work :)

In regards of folders, you can create a tree of folders in the Customskins folder. The game will search for the .ini files within that tree, and display the cars. It might help to keep overview in what kind of skins you have installed.

Look in the RDGTC Skinning topic, and download the skinpack. You can see a folder structure there where the skins have been put in different folders, seperated by car, and driver name. That should help sorting out the structure.

yep another Camaro Cup Gen5 skin, i did the same skin on the BMW E30 a few years back and i thought it would look cool on the Camaro, enjoy :)

Hi,

I'm working on a skin, and I want to save a copy, but when I go to save as .dds, the compression section (that needs to be dxt1 or whatever it is) is greyed out and I can't change it. As a result the car doesn't show up in the car menu in game.

It's happened to me before and I can't remember what I did, fairly sure I came back to the .psd file at a later time and it worked. Any clues? Something I've done wrong in a layer in the skin maybe?

Not that it probably matters, but for the record it is a Chevy Cruze skin.

Thanks in advance!

I've made Cruze skins before without having to do anything alpha-channel related so don't think it's that.

I did create a couple of layers from scratch that had alpha channels and the whole size of the layer was quite large compared to the visible layer I was using...if some invisible layer is outside of the dimensions of the main skin image, would that cause an issue (if that makes sense)?

EDIT: On the menu where the compression option is greyed out, the 'save as' bit says 'volume map', if I change this to 'selected layers' it allows me to edit the compression and it shows up in the car menu...will this have sorted it (in terms of it showing up for other people without any problems)?

We have found a nice group of talented skinners, but we still need every help. If you like to paint cars and you want to help Racedepartment running a great league, please PM me. Your skins can be part of one of the biggest and most prestigous leagues. :)

Never had to flatten the image before on any skin, just merge visible layers clipped to the bottom...will give flattening it a try though thanks

EDIT: Flattened it and it worked, thanks! For some reason the wire was still there after merging visible layers and I think that's what was causing it...never had that problem before though so a bit confused, but it appears to be sorted now so thanks for your help guys :)

Basically i have got my own team name and i am in the middle of paint a few car in the same paint scheme. i have looked to differnet ways of sorting this out and for me at this time i will have a rellok at Erik's .ini file and see if i can get that going, As i hvae managed to do a folder and then got the cars seperated in folders. So if i can rearrange them into just the 1 folder it would make more sense..

Again thanx for all the help, much appreciated..

Just mind that the .ini file is in the same folder as the skin itself.

You can have multiple skins, multiple ini's, and multiple folders. Just keep it all organized together. The you should be fine.

Hi Guys
Ive pretty much been racing the excellent V8 mod and creating quite a few skins for the mod . I thought it was about time to show some of them to the world
All the following skins are fantasy team based , with inspiration taken from the real word of other formulas

For the name on the window, I usually use Arial or Helvetica. Its readability holds up well when the skin gets in the game. Any sans-serif font (Futura, Arial, Franklin Gothic, etc.) works the best. I would stay away from script (fancy calligraphy-type) fonts and serif fonts (Times, Garamond, etc,), as you will lose a lot of legibility.
