That is the Alpha Layer, the car model uses DXT3 .dds format files...

But what do I do with this file? Change the color? Lighter, darker, what?

Do I save only this as a DXT3 .DDS file, or this and the car body file, too? Where do I put the .DDS file?

Sorry to be such a bother, but I know so little of how-to-skin these cars. Simbin cars, when you paint one black, it looks black in the game; these don't. Why?

Great mod!! Many thanks to you for your hard work I just have one question, the cockpits of all the cars are very dark, and even black in some cars, I can barely make out the dashboard is there a way to make them brighter (I have brightness turned up on monitor, it does not help)?

Sadly not without editing the textures When making the interiors I was aiming for the look from the videos of the '98 season as seen here:

@ 1:15.
Some racers like it and some don't.
The 2003 cars will have a different look

Yes it is, but it's not my model, have just edited it to ST specs. So it will just be available in the stcc 2000 mod by biffenh

Bear in mind that a video camera is not a human eye. Put one indoors on a bright day looking out the window, and the interior will always look much, much darker than it does to someone sitting in the exact same spot.

This is my first ever mod, so I hope I haven't made any mistakes!

Back in the 1990s, the German Super Tourenwagen Cup, along with the British Touring Car Championship, were my favourite series to watch. You had great cars, great drivers, and great racing.

I don't usually skin cars, but I really found the incentive to bring one of my favourite series to the virtual world. I tried to make each skin as accurate and realistic as possible.

This mod contains 39 cars, plus five extra skins for the drivers who used more than one livery during the season. Each driver also has their actual helmet and unique racing suit.

Andreas Larsson (AndreasFSC) for his work on the superb Super Touring '98 and Super Touring '90s mods. For many of us, he's brought back so many great memories of the glory days of the '90s.
