On race results imo Schumacher owned Rosberg

It has definiately been more even compared to last year, but let's not joke ourselves, Schumacher has not "Owned" Rosberg this year.

I think they were pretty equal this year tbh, sometimes Rosberg was better, sometimes Schumacher. He definitely improved compared to 2010. It will be interesting what he'll do next year, looking forward to see it!

Your saying Michael is making Nico the skilled racing driver he is? Sorry but that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard :) Nico is beating Michael by his own pace, his own skill.. Michael has done nothing but stand in his wake while he gets consistently beaten by Nico.

I agree Ross totally, not the most ridiculous bit:)(but i get that alot:confused:) But the biggest challange is beating your team mate, and he has no question. but he has also out raced Micheal, and Micheal isnt the easyest guy on the grid to get around. that Abu Dhabi race was brilliant, that race showed me that Nico with that much aggression can not only beat his team mate, but with the right car, he can beat anyone.

The problem is Schumi needs the best car to be able to be his normal self. He only has an average car now which doesn't allow him the opportunity to show off his skills. He's still good enough for F1 though, not only because he's still up there in points, but he is also probably the best at blocking cars from passing him, but he can't demonstrate this unless he has a car fast enough to allow him to block someone. Look at Monza, Schumi held off Hamilton for how many laps? Way more than any other driver would be able to do in that car. He is also still no doubt the best driver (possibly ever?) in the rain which was obvious at Montreal and Korea too. At Montreal he got up into third until it stopped raining and he didn't have the speed that Button and Webber had to stay there. Also in Korea he was fastest in I believe FP1 where it was pouring down rain which was pretty impressive.

Really Schumi is still here because he loves this sport and couldn't see himself doing anything else. The team wants him because he knows pretty much everything there is to know about F1 and can not only help them set up their cars properly, but also help teach newer drivers such as Nico Rosberg. I'm happy to see he's back for 2012, with an option for 2013, and hope that Mercedes can get design him a winning car ;)

Nico's 3 best results: 5, 5, 6.

MSC's 3 best results: 4, 5, 5.

Owning is the wrong word, but you could say that MSC scored a better result than Nico this year. Remember: he said race results, not point results.

Isn't it actually quite funny that Nico's name is mis-spelled on that list?

Interesting point David, although highest 3 places in a season is all very well, but those 3 races don't sum up a whole season.

The point I was making exactly. I feel Schumi has done well for his age and comign back was definately a brave call. Just I feel he is tarnishing his reputation of the worlds greatest ever driver when he gets caught up in a collision with Buemi or Petrov for 13th or 14th position.

I would say yes he is good enough to stay in F1. But not good enough to win races anymore.

With regard to Rosberg v Schumi. Rosberg has consistently tried to go head to head with the Ferrari's, and it's not paid off. He had a lot of retirements through no fault of his own.

Now Schumi has had some great results but he's never taken the fight to the ferrari's like Rosberg has tried to do.

On another note I will say Rosberg has taken a step backward while driving for Mercedes, his performances were much better for Williams, and if he get's to that level again, The argument of whether Schumi is equal to Rosberg won't even be taking place. Rosberg will leave Schumi for dust.

Exactly what i was getting at.

Anybody who believes hes tarnishing his reputation is incorrect because in ten or twenty years time they aren't going to look back at his comeback, they'll look at the statistics, 91 wins, 7 world titles. I'm personally a long time Schumacher fan so i'm always going to believe he has it in him to win.

I think he did a good job in 2011.
He performed at the rate that the car would allow him to. No more, no less.

Was you watching the same season as the rest of us?

He was not doing what the car would at all look at his team mate all season then look at him.

But he is not there to prove any thing he has done that he ins in that car because its good to get money into the car and its good for the sport.

He is not good to be there any more but then I think he has more right then 5 or 6 drivers that have just payed to be there at least he has 7 WC behind him

I think he has lost some of his edge as could be expected, but he's definitely "good enough to be in F1." As opposed to saying the car was inadequate, I think it would be more accurate to say that it did not suit him well.

I'm pretty sure I was watching the same season.
I'd like to clarify first that I am not a Schumacher fan. I disliked him before he retired and I don't particularly like him now.

But having said that, I am fair. Schumacher has been unlucky with some of the situations he's found himself in this year. Brazil is a prime example of that. Getting caught up with Senna (of whom I am a big fan), who out-braked himself and pretty much ruined both his own race as well as Schumacher's.

Looking at his team mate, as you've suggested I do:

Schumacher finished only 7 points behind Rosberg. Not bad at all really, when you consider the following:
-Hamilton finished 28 points behind Button
-Massa finished 137 points behind Alonso
-Webber finished 141 points behind Vettel

All of which you would consider to be better than Schumacher, yet they got far more pummeled by their team mates than Schumacher did by Rosberg.
