Now we know... the first 167 cars to feature in Forza Motorsport 7 have been revealed, with one or two surprises in store for fans of the series...

The mammoth first batch of cars revealed by Turn 10 Studios gives fans a great insight into the fantastic level of diversity coming to the new game. With historic cars from some of the best moments of motoring history, right the way through to the bang up-to-date Aston Martin DB11 of 2017, Forza Motorsport 7 appears to have a little something for everyone.

Unfortunately it does look like the developers have taken the path most trodden, namely selecting a number of unique cars that don't necessarily form a coherent full series schedule, however with the proposed launch roster of cars reaching in excess of 700 cars (yeah, 700. SEVEN HUNDRED!!), it is fair to assume that one will be able to pull together a reasonably diverse grid of similar performance machines when setting up a race event come launch day.

Interestingly the list has a couple of surprise inclusions, like the world renowned McLaren Honda MP4/4 of 1988 specification, the Formula One car that powered Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost to almost uncountable victories during that season, eventually giving Senna his first Formula One World Championship.

As with practically any racing game worth it's salt in the current marketplace, the new Forza title benefits from a number of Porsche machines, with one of the standout highlights of not only the Porsche content, but the game in general, is the 2017 specification 919 Hybrid that raced, and won, at Le Mans this year and looks odds on favourite to wrap up another World Endurance Championship victory at the close of the current season.

As can be seen from the first reveal list below, Porsche are joined in the simulation by the exceptionally difficult to secure, and all too rare, Ferrari licence. Unlike other sims with the red cars, Forza Motorsport 7 does seem to have selected a pretty interesting and unique selection of cars from the Prancing Horse. A nice mix of old and new are present in this first batch reveal, giving us some stunning models from the history of the brand, perhaps with the majestic 1948 Ferrari 166MM Barchetta immediately standing out as one to take note of come release day.

With diversity as the buzz word in this new release, the slower end of the spectrum (relatively speaking..) has also been catered for, with a number of close racing friendly machines listed, plus the odd SUV for good measure.. Oh, when I say SUV, I actually mean something a bit more sporty that the regular school run vehicle, more along the lines of the rarely seen 2014 Lamborghini Urus.. still at concept stage, but due for a 2018 release, this one is 4 wheel drive on steroids...

I've been on the Forza journey with Turn 10 from the start (does anyone else remember emailing them a photo of your pre-order slip for the first free VIP membership?) and I'm looking forward to Forza 7 and already pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition. 700 cars are almost certainly too many for one person, I probably won't drive even 200 of them but the choice it offers the community in both cars and racing styles is something else. More tracks are always good and let's hope more are added along the way.

I hope the wheel feedback is as good as the reports from Goodwood. I enjoy race sims but I also enjoy Forza which is clearly a racing game, it produces some surprisingly good racing all the same. It also has one of the best car setup tuning systems (as opposed to car tuning/adding parts). Above all, though one thing guaranteed with Forza is that it will work as advertised and be feature complete on day 1 (on Xbox One, lets hope that is also true on PC).

The car part modifying and building is part of the fun of this game. I know not everyone enjoys that but I wonder how many people here have modified their own real world cars in some way, I bet it is quite a few. Sims with real world builds are great but Forza with its 'what if' builds is also good fun.

VR on PC hasn't been confirmed but nor has it been denied this would be a huge bonus.

Using my man maths calculator Forza including pricey DLC is well ahead on the cost/benefit ratio:

Total cost of game inc DLC / Hours played = Less than the price of renting the latest movie release

Forza is what it is, I doubt it will appeal to the hardcore here and we live in a time of so much choice, must be the best ever across the full sim to arcade racing spectrum. With over 5m players they are doing something right.

Could be BS, could not.
Project Cars 2 and Forza 1093 seem saying and doing the same stuff...
Maybe they do listen.
Sometimes..
"Oh wheel users are going to flip a lid. There's so many peripherals available on PC. We basically went through our forums, we went through other people's forums, we were looking at all the fan-requested wheels, then we just started getting them hooked-up through Windows 10, through UWP, so the fan-requested wheels all work: Logitech, you name it.

"But on top of that we had one of our physics engineers actually dedicated to really tuning that wheel, we had race car drivers come in, Tanner Foust comes in all the time, we've got other guest race car drivers, they come in and they really help us dialling the force feedback on all devices, Xbox One as well. The amount of options you have as a wheel user has dramatically increased, it's much more in line to what you would expect of a PC racing game. So I think our wheel users are going to be overjoyed".
Dan Greenawalt.

With this list from Forza out now, it at least explains the wall to wall Project Cars 2 PR stuff...
The thing is, any improvement will be a good thing, for both games, and us, the customers.
And as we know, things can be patched/updated as we go along.
Fanatec have had some input, so that has to be a plus.
Video car racing on the PC, or 'sim' racing as some like to call it, needs a huge kick up the arse.
Forza coming to the PC is a great move, and very brave.
Sony will be watching very closely; games like Forza and GT Sport are used to sell consoles.
Look at iracing's tracks. Really look at them.
The buildings are made of cardboard.
Road great.
Trackside stuff, rubbish.
And how much a track?
AC, huge list of issues from 'sim' racers..
RaceRoom still not finished..
RF2, years behind...
If Forza is successful, if you can actually drive the cars with a wheel, the others will have to up their game, quickly.
So surely that is a good thing for all of us?

Car count aside, (which is pretty much Microsoft flexing it's financial muscles) if they really made the game for "car lovers and lovers of racing games", it would have a level of accuracy to make it at least slightly believable.

And it does have a "level of accuracy to make it at least slightly believable".

In spite what your deluded, elitist mind might think, Forza does not play like Mario Kart.

Sooo, they modelled a handful of new cars.

Then they tweaked all the rendering/shaders to make it look nicer.

Then they took all the old car content and just brushed the batch-updater over it, and are now selling it all in a 'new' game, and loads of it as 'new' DLC.

Mwuhahahaha.

The profit margin at Turn 10 must be mind-boggling now.

Still at least the environments get some decent attention with amazing shaders and rain and day/night and all that jazz.

At least they aren't braindead enough to shoot themselves in the foot like Polyphony and go make an "esports" focused racing game no one ****ing asked for. PD literally leave wads of cash for MS and T10 by ditching the car collecting game.

People complain there is no cars in some games , now 700 cars is too much yeah ?
What is the magical number 367 ?
Best post so far :roflmao:

In all honesty, i couldn't think of anything better then a Sim with telemetry-accuracy of Assetto Corsa, some nice roads and tracks, and 700 (road) cars. I would take another car every day, just to test it, go for a test drive on a nice mountain road, and blast around with sports cars. But some people - usually the ones to take one car and run 700 laps on the same circuit to get the last thousands of a second out of it - don't fathom this concept...

Oh come on friend.....
It's called entertainment and companies that produce material for entertainment have a rather predictable and bad habbit of wanting to make lots of money. That means mass market appeal...

You want sim accuracy or the need to discuss it, maybe you parked in the wrong thread.
Why criticise the game for being something it may never be, or something some want it to be but it just won't.

I think many are just hoping its the best Forza title to date but also the first proper Forza designed to run on PC as well. Some will be glad if it sucks. just so they can moan some more. I personally think its great to see it being available on PC and working with a wide selection of PC wheels.

Your allowed to be positive and happy too...

I agree, Forza was my gateway into SIM racing. From there I wen't on to GTR, RACE 07, rFactor, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars. I may even buy an iRacing car.

For example Codemasters F1 games used to be pretty decent ,
I remember 2010 when it first came out was really enjoyable to play , not a hardcore sim but really fun ,
2011 was the same fun to play ,
2012 was awesome we must have raced over a 1000 hrs online on xbox with F 2012 ,
2013 was ok ish , but lost some of the edge of the previous games ,

What went wrong since 2013 with these Titles , Codemasters started all this stuff with online points system for achievements , but the main issues is they started taking major advice from the community on the forums in which 85% was aged between 12-17 , this is why it went down ill ,
and still there pursuing this route , from betas and such to try and gain interest back ,
and now with Max Verstappen playing F1 2017 with TV Cam view ???
its to gain interest in the younger people ,

No Xbox and PS title will ever be 1000% Hardcore simulation , simply due to the fact of the younger generation of people they create these games for , not for 30-40-50 year olds who love hardcore sims ,

its to sell games to young kids who parents want them to have all the best toys and out smart there friends at school , kids sell games not simulation ,

but in saying this , in all my years , SMS , Forza/Turn 10 , and Codemasters is where I have raced and had the most fun in racing , these games are pure entertainment ,
try racing a sim after a few beers with your friends , then go play forza , at least with forza you will come back with a smile on your face.

When the FFB is as bad as it is, and the physics are as sub-par as they are, you might as well be.
With all respect Nick, could you tell us all when did you play the new Forza?
I have not, and again, with respect, I think you have not.
Remember, I am saying, 'IF'.
And as some else stated, it is a big if...
If the force-feedback works, if the physics work, then people may be in for a shock...
I know I will be..
But it will be a nice shock..
You sound worried.
Why?
Oh, and Mario Kart is a fun game; is that not the point of games.
And, I have see a quote from the creator of GT Sport, and he has stated that the 'car collecting' bit is still in his game. Again, time will tell.
To be fair, they has only shown part of the game in beta testing.
So, it could be true.
I like all car games, I want to see all games do well, nothing wrong with that is there?

Who decides this ? Unknown god of simracing ?

Everytime this nonsens lol :D
Would be nice if you didn't just cut out pieces of what I said out of context to suit your narrative.

I'll get it sometime down the line because of the parts tuning aspect and amount of cars, mostly. While it's not a full on sim, similar to Gran Turismo it's just fun to experiment with what-if builds, and this one is on PC for a change. My purchase decision only depends on how the release on PC is... if it's running as bad as FM6 Apex and FH3 then I'm not really willing to put down full price in the Windows Store...

This is what I actually said. Learn reading...

Edit: What's with the ****ing haha rating now? Get a grip @Andy Kettler

We have already seen and continue to see "sim hardcore" titles branching into the mainstream market for much higher sales. So this "physics" debate towards console gamers is kind of silly. "Sim Racing" has indeed become more widespread but will this be highlighted in Forza 7, having more sim orientated physics or options, well maybe not? Will P Cars 2 be much different on a PS Pro to a mid range PC using the same wheel?

I think the biggest disappointment over the years with all racing titles is the lack of really good AI. Or features for hot lapping like the ability to load up and race not just 1 but instead say 3 fastest laps as ghost cars and give them a specific transparent colour, eg red, blue and green. Don't know about you guys but I could spend hours just playing to try and beat my own PB or a friends lap.

What I do know, is how Forza franchise and GT people will spend quite a bit of money to enjoy it on.
Such is the passion for the series...

Before getting a cockpit or wheel here is Forza in a unique way on silly consoles.
I was always interested in technically enjoying games to the best ways possible and having past hobby in audio/home cinema.

Forza 2

4x Xbox Consoles
3x Component - VGA Adapters (Prior to HDMI being available)
3x 19" TFT Monitors
1x 80" Projector for real-time replay
7.1 Dolby Audio

A comfy sofa, dumb ass joypad and big cheesy grin.

Then later, came my first ever cockpit but man how this market has grown and changed....

Even bilion cars to choose do not substitute the one decent in purposeful sim/game environement. Sorry I have one car and I love them and I don't need more to have pleasure of driving, and to move around... ;) What is the idea of several hundred of cars?

If people enjoy it (and many do.. as you used to :whistling:) then I don't see any problem at all with Turn 10. Everyone knows what they are getting with Forza it's not like it's an new unknown commodity.

I've actually had a lot of fun with F6 over the last month or so (online and off) after owning F3, F4 and F5 and never giving them much more than a cursory go. I'll probably pick up this new one when it comes out, it won't get as much play time as other titles but as a diversion and something a bit different I know i'll have some fun with it.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. :O_o:

I never said people shouldn't enjoy Forza, and by all means pick this up before DiRT4.

For those new to the genre, they may want to play a real SIM, and not GTA...that was my point. People don't have money to buy them all, and if my horrible experiences with Turn 10 (they have gotten worse, IMO...too many flaws to even start) can save someone who wants to race from having to pretend a car collecting game is anything close to real, then that's a win.
