rFactor 2 Racing Club event
That was great fun, but bloody hard work for two races. I'll be busy for the next while as I travel to Austria 1977 and dig up that ####ing chicane.

I've been fascinated by this all week and practicing too, what a car and track combo! I didn't register or race tonight, I was committed to the R3E event at Portimao which I had technical difficulties with and couldn't compete, typical eh?

Historic racing is what gets me the most so hoping to join in and these times suit perfectly :) These things felt like so much fun to drive, I had never tried them before. The brakes are not very good :roflmao:

@Denis Betty In future, may I ask is it ok for me to request a practice server password to see how I get on before a commitment to race? I'm still very conscious of being too slow and getting in the way. I was making too many mistakes in the T280 and riding around suffering rF2s painful flat spot model but I think with practice I could be worthy of a place here..
hello radish;
just jumping in here with my two cents. definitely no need to be timid or worried about not being able to keep pace. from personal experience, i can tell you the guys here have been super helpful and encouraging and no one is going to lap time shame you or get upset if they have to get around you during the race. don't even worry about getting in the way, believe me they will find a way to get around and do it without having to bully you off the track as happens on the public servers.

yes, you can learn a ton from them by taking part in the events and watching how the other drivers do it. i'm still working on all this myself, and I wouldn't mind having another rookie join the ranks.

looks like @Denis has put together another blast from the past for us for thursday. it would be great if you can join us.

Thanks for that Dominic :) yeah, I'm slowly building a little more confidence now having done a couple of the AC multiclass Wednesday events, races here are indeed a very different environment to public servers or even organised MP in iRacing.

I'm not too concerned with outright speed just now, I've been semi-ok over one lap but still struggling with consistency as I've made several fairly costly errors, all of them due to over driving. I'll be doing my first rF2 MP event with the MX5s at Zandvoort on Sunday so once that is out of the way and on weeks I'm not committed to Formula Agile I would love to join in, Denis certainly looks like he's been picking really fun and interesting combos.

Han is a wonderful event host and the guys that race AC are a great bunch of guys. But I hope you'll find us equally helpful and fun to race with.

You're right about over driving, it's the hardest thing to stay on top of. But if you enjoy the racing and stick at it, things will begin to come together. Like all things though, have fun as you go along - that's why what we're here for. :)

Oh I'm sure I will :) I'm like a kid in a candy store just now, I want to race in everything, I need more time! :D Over the years as an offline player I've clocked up more hours in rF2 than any other modern sim so I shouldn't put all that practice to waste.

I think it's so easy to plateau with a car and track combo then go chasing the extra time by other means. Discipline and patience seem key ingredients I'm lacking still but this is why I'm here - to have fun and develop race craft and not watch endless replays of myself or take screenshots haha.

yes, i race (if you can call it that :thumbsdown:) with the AC guys too. i usually sign up for the wednesday races as well, but have missed the last couple due to work commitments. true that they are bunch of good guys as well, and Han does a great job digging up interesting tracks to race on.

i'm pretty new to both rF2 (118 hrs.) and AC (approx. 300 hrs.), just started at the end of last year on both. never had raced online prior to joining up here.
back in the day played GPL and GTR2... but that was WAY back in the day, and strictly offline. still remember playing on a joystick back then..

definitely having a blast with sim racing, signing up for every race i can both in AC and rf2 clubs! see you around.
