PC1 Latest Build testing.

Andy_J

I hate Race cheats ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
As you all know, Ian gave me a free pass to test the latest builds and that's what I have been doing for the last week. I will report here as and when I see fit to tell all about my findings.

But I will say that the latest build (296) is quite good. Now lets make some sense of my statement. I used a Lotus 98T in helmet cam using my antique MOMO red wheel and I can honestly report it is coming along much better than I anticipated. The actual feel and immersion is damn fine at this point. The handling is strange at first compared to say...RF2 and FVA, but it grows on you within minutes. At this point in time, this actual car feels good. I like it and I love the Milan circuit. The damage model has come on leaps and bounds.

I am doing some more testing all of next week using a G27 and I will also test some of the other cars that don't interest me as much (I am a F1 nut) and see how the feel in comparison to Shift 2, because that is what I was initially comparing PCars to.

I would like the replay function to have a directors mode though. Something that jumps from action to action and from car to car.

Aside from that, the replay's do crash my PC quite often but I understand that is being looked at.

Watch this space.

Couple of observations from me - improved AI (wip) which doesn't pile up now and more "solid" is the feel of the wheel. Nailing the ffb the Holy Grail. After that everything falls into place for a truly great sim. Raw data in telemetry from the physics is actually great. Just need to feel that more.

Yes Chris I actually think it will be quite good the weight shift of the car is pretty good now within the ffb system and was the biggest complaint in the past with the ffb system and the lack of feeling what the rear of the car was doing. It's much better and I personally could live with it but I think the bigger percentage of people want more road effect as well in the ffb system by way of jolt effects possibly probably more so than engine vibration effects but I would not sneeze at having both if it could be worked in smoothly. Overall having a smooth running piece of software that appeals to what we all hope is the masses will be key.

With the FC we are now on r13 A and B tires for you to try. Quite a bit of work going into these tire tests and may be a threshold for tires on similar classed cars going forward because I know AJ wants to make the FB kind of a pet project when he gets fully involved with the tweaks to that car.

I'm still not sure about the weight transfer, yesterday I did back to back tests of the 1M at Imola on pCARS and AC, ACs ffb had much better feeling for the weight of the car. Road noise too, but I can get that by using Jack Spades tweaks. Other than the weight transfer and some slight balance differences (ACs 1m seems more understeery than pCARS to me) there's very little difference between the games.

Lakeville (Sears Point) is looking stunning in the latest build, the track artists are fricken amazing!!

Had a load of fun in the Sierra, Escort and the cat classic.

What You mean with "media library", some issue with yt playback?

For me GT3 works for the first time just like it should, also FFB gain some improvements. Great build, just some crashes during replays, but patience is the best solution. Until next update ;)

This.... the fact that I first have to click the link and leave the thread to get to the video, then I have to click the youtube thingy to leave RD and go to youtube to watch it because I can't watch it in fullscreen on the medial library page for some reason.
But it's not your fault, and very off topic, just getting on my nerves ><

After some time trying various cars around Spa and California highway I must admit. Very very nice and it's coming along nicely. Particularly enjoyed sliding a mustang around Spa. But I am having some problems. Replays seem to work one minute and not the next. Is this an ongoing problem (even on the same track with the same car). I tried replays after races at Bathhurst, Spa, Conneticut Hill and none would work after finishing the race.

Cheers
Andy

I think replay broke a few builds back both in single play and multiplay.

Build 708 (18/04/14, Team Member+)
Known issues:
- Replays in MP: Not working as they should
- P2P Tracks: Don't press return to pitbox
- Race Weekend: Do not use in-race Setup Edit when using Automatic Gears (Keyboard/Gamepad)
- JIP: Stop&Go Penalty might be given during the JIP sessions
- Replays will only work with your first race. If you quit and start a new session, all participants will be stuck on the grid.
