Well, that was interedting.
First of all, thank you for setting up the server.

turn out was pretty good but the folks that showed up that were not from RD could have used a couple of etiquette lessons. Amazing after all these years how strange it is to race against "puffypaffy69" instead of a real name.

The game was excellent and the driving a lot of fun. I definitely want to do it again. I think we all have to learn how to manage the race.

I got disqualified in the final race for speeding on the pace lap, but I had no idea what speed I was supposed to go. If the info is someplace, maybe we should post all these things here in the forum.

The other thing that was a mystery to me was the format. "Pre-final" and "final" makes no sense to me. Is this the way it is raced in RL? If it is, fine, but in my experience, any 2 heats races end up with less people for the last race. I personally prefer a single nbut longer race.

Next time we should also pre-select the Kart everyone race. We should start with the simple one but also use the shifter kart on tracks where it can be driven more freely.

As far as limiting access to the server, eventually we will need to, but for now, if possible In would rather see an open server and a welcome text that explains the rules and send folks to the race's forum post.

Lastly, we should also specify that driving view is the same for everyone. I ahve not experiemented with them. I always use cockpit view but if there is another realistic one, I'll try it. otherwise we should not allow strange views. Only those that are realistic in RL.

I am sure I'll have more toughts later but for now that's all I can think of.

thank you again.

PS: Can one of us make a short video? I will try, but I haven't done it in ages. Maybe we can use it for propaganda purposes and drum up racers.

As i was a first test i left the server open , i needed to see how many karts it could handle with the ping... from my end all pings were below 300.. which is good i think we can get some EU vs US etc in the future
the same again i left kart choice open to get more people ...
there about the same times if you look at leader boards... but yes with more people we should use 1 class
server will be set to no aids with force cockpit...
most of the info is in our forum me and Lars just about covered the essentials
Rolling start http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/rolling-start-regulations.49981/
basic setup info http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/setups.45289/
We tried 100%races ... i like that. but you only have to get a dq and its a long wait what i can do is put up a poll .. but to make it easy on my server setting the races for EU and US will be the same format...
All we need now are some more racers... :)
but good fun with close lap times...
i will modify welcome message on server .. and back up your post on PiBoSo
It took a good couple of months for the EU side to start working but we will get there..

the guys that talked about the view were used to useing the swingman view i think .. (not used to cockpit)

I just tested the driving views. There are only 2. Cockpit and the arcade "drive from behind" view. Definately we need to force cockip and make it known to any new drivers.

I also have driven some of the otehr tracks. Is there a list of RD approved tracks? Some are really cool and very well done. There are a couple that I would love to race on.

Also, one more thing: Since the Euro club is doing well and the US one is just starting, maybe it would be a good idea to have a mixed time zone race on the weekend. A bit later for the Euro guys and a bit earlier for us. Meet in the middle.

I also tried to take some replays, but the cameras are a bit limited. The TV camera is OK but I wasn't able to find a zoom and a single go-kart racing alone is not compelling. Maybe we can record the next race.

I already have a number of tracks but there are some I don't have in the link you posted.

problem is that more than half of them are actually hosted at bier-buden and I don't have their FTP password.

Here are the tracks I have installed in game:
amay
Amsterdam_indoor
Amsterdam_outdoor
Bueren
dijon
ellough
Faßberg
Genk
Goldenport
Kerpen
kimbolton
La Conca
Lauta
Magescq
Mariembourg
NevaRing
Roskilde Karting
RussianRing
StyriaKarting
Taquaral
Villarcayo Alpha4
Here are the ones I was able to download (the bier buden ones are missing)

Bueren_1.rar
DKC.pkz
funring_1.rar
LaConca.rar
NevaRing.zip
Velodrom.zip
Villarcayo.rar
Looks like some are updatesand a couple I didn;t have.

I will be happy to host the "approved" tracks for download for anyone that wants them. I can put them on my Amazon S3 account along with any otehr file that's needed.

As far as the paint templates, I couldn't see if there was a blank template for each kart. I assume each one has a different template.

Can we maybe have a sticky in the forum with all the tracks and the latest version that are on the server? Again, I can host them on my account if you guys want. I could use the same password we use for the races.

There was one thing that I wantged to mention and each time I came to the forum to write the post I would forget what it was. Finally it came to me so here it is:

Please use Teamspeak!!!

Why was I the only one on teamspeak? It's not the first time that happens and each time I feel like an idiot. It would be a lot more helpful if everyone was on TS at least for the first few races. We can coordinate better and I am really lousy at driving and typing at the same time. Really lousy.

Can we maybe make that more prominent next time and make it quasi mandatory?

I would really appreciate it.

But what if you haven't got a microphone? Then it's not very needed to use Teamspeak.

Of course if you don;t have a mic it makes it a bit harder, but the other day I bought a set of USB headphiones, for me and one for my wife as my older set worn out. Mine cost me $150 but they are surround sound extravaganza. My wife's are a lot cheaper. I think around $25 and they sound almost as good as mine.

the beauty of USB kits is that you just plug them in and you don;t have to screw around with plugs look for the colors, speakers, mic, etc. Just a USB plug and next thing you know you are in business.

They are also very useful for skype or G-talk.

personally, I have to race in headphones anyway or I'll drive everyone crazy.

yep G35 headphones here great sounds and i don't annoy the neighbours..
i only want to use tracks that work good on the server we've already had a problem with Genk.. is a great track but it has holes in it .... so please test the tracks for flaws and problems before submitting a track... the last thing we need is the server to crash when im not around.... but i will need help on the server for your races..there is Admin control you can use to adjust setting.. ( but once this is altered it does not collect results) you must keep to the ini to collect results..
to start with we will keep it simple with the races but if you take a look at what ive been offering in the Eu club... by the way anybody is welcome in either club event .. its more about the time zones..
i will post a race for Sunday evening EU time 7:00 gmt this will try to cover both time zones.. ..
please post suggestions for club events here http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/which-days-are-you-available-suggestions.50550/
and here you will find whats on the server (once its updated) http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/racedepartment-com-server-tips.49921/

When you have signed up we expect you to be there. If for any reason you can not make it you can sign out up until 1 hour prior to the practice session, otherwise you will be reported as a no-show.

You can not sign up as a 'maybe', you are there or you are not. We will not reserve grid places for people that might be there, we give them to people that will be there.
