Nice but:

A) You race against people you don't know and you won't see again probably, is like race in a GTR Evo public server appart from the clean racing.

B) What you do is no relevant, you can't follow your position in a champ as there is a race every 30 secs, and ones are faster or more difficult than others, not equal conditions for all drivers.

Enough for me to get bored with it, appart of the prize.

Not entirely. Some RD's signed up for a solstice race some weeks ago and only 1 (sorry Ben) got separated from the others.
And when you play it lets say more than once a week you actually see the same names online again. If I would drive Evo on RD now, I think I hardly know anyone either :)
But true, its harder to drive with friends etc.etc.

You drive actually for points and also for your region's points. In that case, people who are interested have a target. I drive it pure for practice and fun. And like to update my rating and licenses. At least i see less bugs in it :)

Hard to compare to the usual ISI-based games. In the beginning it was all US racing, but it seems the Europeans get some pieces in it also soon.

A quote from RSC which i think nails it on the head. At least this is still the same way i worry about iRacing. How will they continue this service in the future

That post is full of nonsense. Iracing was founded and is funded by a billionare who i think has a better understanding of business models than some random on RSC. Many people dont understand that you are not just paying for a game you are paying for a service. Everything is setup and organised for you. Servers, schedules, forums, tech support, forums, community, awesome statistics ect ect, and that is far superior than the random system in other racing games, which is just full of wreckers and grids full of widely varied skill levels which doesnt make for good racing.

And then of course you have the software which is far superior to all other sims. The physics are done by real engineers not someone who thinks hes an engineer using notepad.

Some people are happy with simplistic sim racing with mods with crappy physics, but many want more serious and more realistic driving experiences and iracing caters for them. Dont worry about the business it will grow and get bigger and very soon will be the place to be for all sim racing.

All other sims are toys in comparision. Sounds like you want iracing to fail which is pathetic.

None of what you say is true at all. Its the direct opposite. There are championship tables for each league for each car. And you can race against friends as long you are similar skill level.

Don't fool yourself by thinking that the service they provide is so expensive that you have to pay big time for it. Servers/Forums/etc are a tiny drop on the plate compared to game development.

It's not that millions of people visit those forums or use the dedicated servers for gaming.

If they would let communities host their own dedicated servers for iRacing i am sure there monthly price wont drop a dime

And you can race against friends as long you are similar skill level.

And that is one of the downers for me of this concept. I want to race with friends, and friends not automatically have the same level of racing. I will be stuck with a certain group of people while maybe i want to race with Sander Hogendoorn as well (but he will always be a few levels up)

I race here once and then I comment and have fun with the race, jokes, videos, incidents, for one week untill the next one.

In iRacing this doesn't exist, is fully individual racing.

In the tables, you compete with people you may never race directly against, that's not a motorsports competition.

I will slightly agree on the Friends bit i tried to race with Simon,Jamie and James Yesterday but i got split of right @ the end due to my safety rating, This also happend when Ramon was going to race with us :(

But due to my times being slower than Simon and James(Not jamie :D)I can't really argue as I would of been a risk to there rating and the other racers rating.

Again none of this is true. The iracing community is far larger this one. People talk abour races in forums, post replays videos, share setups ect ect. Its no different.

And you do race directly against people on the table that you are competing against, but if your really slow you wont race against the very fastest guys. Just like real life, the skill levels reasonable matched.

Just bought a 12 month Subscription

I get $80 of Credits :)

Grats Ben :wink2:

You should have $60 of credits now and you will receive the other $25 on August 7th.

Completely agree. The last 6 weeks of the season I was racing the Radical and since that series is not one of the most populair in there I was racing the same names quite often :)

I agree that when you take the jump into it as a rookie you might feel 'lonely in a big new world'. Just go racing when you got the hang of how the complete service works and soon you will make many friends and you will race familiar people quite often.

And that is one of the downers for me of this concept. I want to race with friends, and friends not automatically have the same level of racing. I will be stuck with a certain group of people while maybe i want to race with Sander Hogendoorn as well (but he will always be a few levels up)

It's not really that I only race the highest class available for me, when the Jetta is released you can find me there too :wink2:

Name me one serie in real life where all the drivers have the same skill rating?

In almost every sport (except chess?) you have faster and slower guys and they mostly compete in the same competitions.
They are all still within 1 second of each other in real life, which is how it is in iracing, but in many other leagues u have drivers seconds a lap slower than the front runners which is just a joke. Its not fun for the slow or fast guys.

There is a difference between being seconds slower or a second slower. In most games i am a little slower per lap then Sander for example (0.5 sec?). Yet in iRacing he will drive in a complete different skill ranking then i do.

And with others that i race with now that are slower then me (not a joke as you mention it) i can never hook up in iracing.

Guys, some of you talk about iRacing and have probably only read something about it or drove the first months.

If you drive now, you often drive in series with different skills and ratings.
For example I drove and won (my first and only road race victory) with others from rookie (4.0+), D, C, B and A licenses. All with different ratings inside their Licenses.
The laptimes differences varied from 0-6 seconds. I wasnt even the fastest but luckily the most consistent that time.

Its the same in the leagues/events here. Even in leagues the laptimes differ very much. Not always in qual when people practice a single lap on their own, but in the race you always see top drivers falling back because they are not used to properly race. Same as in iRacing.

And again, I agree, finding friends is a lot harder then rF/GTL/Race07. But.... and a big BUT is needed. At least iRacing listen to their customers and make the game/sim actually better, where GTL/rF is dead in terms of development and nothing is expected from Race07 also.

Who knows what's on their next dev list to change/create. Since support for private leagues are coming 'soon', I expect this is acknowledged by them and will be handled properly.

Its a bit shame tho the price is too high. The monthly price will not be an issue for anyone. But the forced payment for additional content is.
You have to buy a better car and before you can apply for a serie you probably have to buy extra addon tracks too. Although I understand the development costs they are still a bit too high. (Car = $15, Track = $15-$25). They could also make a car <$10 and Track max $15. But hey, if the words are not lying iRacing has >15000000$ development costs that need to be paid back :)
