I raced almost all sims since GP1 from Geoff Crammond including all Simbin mods and stand alone games. I also raced real cars (Clio Cup, Mini Challenge and several other cars).

I always liked the Physics of the good old GTL, which was a Papyrus sim like the also famous Nascar series.

Simbin sims attracted me since GTR and GTR 2.

Then the Race series began, Race, Race 07, GTRE, STCC, Race on. I liked them too but less than GTR2, it seemed more buggy but there is a nice community with nice racing arround so I got sticked to the Race series.

Then there also is NKPro, which I also own, I also drove the older series. Physics here are very very good but there are only a few people who use it. I hope this will change in the future, the Abarths are amazing to drive.

Then iRacing, I always saw it also as a big commercial thing but I gave it a try because I needed a new challenge in my life. The first time on track in the Legends car I thought what the hell I bought, I really couldn't drive this thing with this short wheelbase.
But I kept on trying and had some online racing too. I started to like it and now I love it.
I saw the interviews at the iRacing company on Insidesimracing and I noticed this was a very professional team behind the sim. They really develop more and better things for iRacing.

So all I can say about iRacing is that their physics are realy really good and the online racing is the best I have ever seen. Yes when I go from iRacing to Simbin I really have to get used to the cars again, I miss so much then, but I still like the racing there too because of the community behind it.

Good catch Simon. Very interesting stuff.

I remember a conversation in the forum about the sound system. iRacing has the capability to generate up to 63 sounds. I have them all on and I can't say for sure what I'm hearing beyond say 32, but there's a lot of stuff to hear our there. :)

The conversation also led to the possibility that the new system might be sent to it's own core for processing which means there will be a reason for people to upgrade to a quad-core processor to take full advantage.

Some really good stuff coming, the tyre modelling updates will be worth the wait I'm sure. The painting thing is pretty worthless though IMHO if the cars are not shared say like Live For Speed. The endurance stuff sounds great though if they implement driver changes.

Hopefully something like that will be implemented so we can all see each others skins. Driver changes will probably come too, wouldn't be a good idea for them to leave that out with endurance races.

Sorry, but there's no way I'm gonna store a couple thousand skins on my hard drive and try to keep up with changes. I though they might have a way to store them and allow for uploads/changes etc. For leagues might be fun though.

Thats just it, someone makes a skin, uploads it to a community run web-site for skins but then makes some changes a day later, all of a sudden you're using an out of date skin taking up HDD space. If it were a system where skins downloaded to your PC in game like Live For Speed then you could also have a setting to limit the number of skins you download before files get automatically overwritten or you specify a size of HDD space in your My Documents/iRacing folder.

Dale Earnhardt Jr on behalf of iRacing wrote this in the forum:

Currently, IRacing will not provide an auto upload feature that will capture your other competitors schemes once you join a session. We have seen this in other sims, but there are some dangerous legal grey areas that IRacing chooses to steer clear of. What will need to be done by the community is a universal website that would serve as a gathering place for everyones schemes. Thats one reason why I wanted to post this information in the first place. With the option to paint your own car coming very soon and the absence of an auto upload feature, its going to be up to us to keep things as organized as possible. What would be preferred is a website with a file transfer system like we've seen in the past. If someone does choose to run a custom scheme but you are unable to acquire it, what you will see on your end is the scheme they have saved inside IRacing's current paintshop.
