Antering RPM

Just a quick one to say sorry for cutting you up on Monza tonight (Tues, 3rd July 2007). I wasn't checking my mirrors, while recovering from a newbie spin.:o

That E90 is fun to drive, haven't tried the others yet

Just bought the game today, having played a bit of Legends and GTR/GTR2.

A bit more about me....28 yrs of age, second daughter born a week ago, so sneaking in practice on RACE is gonna be tricky.

Have a Logitech MOMO wheel and pedals, which I bought when I got GTR. Just dug them out of the loft again when I bought RACE. They make the game so much better.

Anyone here play GT Legends?

I am also a bit of a fan of Day of Defeat - can be found playing that most evenings if I am not at work.

G'Day Ant and welcome to RPM, hope you have fun here. It'll be a good diversion from changing nappies I imagine.
I also have GTL, and really like it, but most of my game time lately has been with RACE.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Baby is pretty good - just a process of elimination when she cries: nappy, wind, hunger - that's about it. Have had practice from our other daughter who is just coming up to 16 months.

Older daughter was fascinated when I got the steering wheel out of the loft. Took the E30 M3 for a spin (literally) round Macau - that is one tough circuit. Watched a video of the race on Youtube, and it looks manic, one spun car and the others just queue behind!

I'm not a complete newbie to Simbin games, as I have GTR. GTR2 and Legends like I mentioned, trouble is I always feel a bit geeky if I leave the steering wheel out when people come round. Then I pack it up and can't be bothered to sort it out again. But not any more, I am determined to put in the time on RACE and GTR2! I used to be pretty quick on Geoff Crammond's first two GP games, and Gran Turismo was a popular pastime whilst at Uni. My other distractions are Half Life 2 Deathmatch, Day of Defeat and Battlefield 2.

It's gonna be tough, but I'm sure I will survive.

Anyway, how are the servers funded? Do I just click on the donate link at the top of the page? I hate the idea of trying to use your public server(s) regularly without contributing towards them. Let me know how best to help out.

Hi Anthony, welcome to our community.

The servers usage are free of charge, but if you wish to contribute to the costs, you can do it via the donation bin.
However to enter the password protected ones you need to make an application in the Racing Club session. Maybe if you raced already with Stiggy, and he says some good words about you, it makes the accessing process easier....

(we are selecting carefully who we allow to enter to our password protected servers)

Always good to see new people to RACE and GTR2.

And I played GTL on my previous PC, but when I run it on Vista, it just goes with a framerate of 0,5 fps

Don't know what causes it

I'll try to fix it ASAP

Neo,

Only raced with Stig once last night, and crashed into him. I am happy to wait and prove myself on the public servers, but will make a donation now. I am already itching to get back behind the wheel.

Hopefully over the next few sessions I can improve and get used to the game, maybe I will prove myself to not be a total liability on track!

Luckily I haven't upgraded my PC yet, so no Vista problems for now. Unfortunately I am running Low/Medium settings as it seems RACE is more system hungry than Legends. Not to worry, as I am considering a cheap upgrade to an ATI X850XT, as I only have the X600 that came with my system a couple of years ago!

There is also an article on overclocking in this months PC Gamer.......*reaches for PC tower with mischevious look in his eyes*

Currently running on a 7900GT, which isn't that good as I expected...
And I'm not so in for overclocking

Even though I have the best overclocking motherboard that was availble last year

Maybe we could all get together for a game of Legends in the future. I guess it isn't as popular as there are limited setup options compared to the likes of GTR and RACE.

Mystic - I have never tried overclocking, but am tempted as my system is out of date anyway. Not sure if my MoBo is up to it....
