GTR2 & P&G how to map neutral?

As the Title says, how do I map something that has no value as a DX function?
I use a G25, I also have an SST lightening. When it is in neutral in the pits its ok, as soon as I put it in any gear and try to return to neutral it will not, it stays in whatever gear it was in prior to neutral. The only way to keep the car from moving is to hold the clutch in.
In game settings (controls) it has neutral as a button to be mapped, either of my shifters when in neutral do not show as anything. Do I make any sense?

unfortunately I didn't think it is finished and the last news i found was a reply to a youtube vid which is 3 months old. I'm going to try and track them both down later and see what's what.

You need to make sure that in the advance control options you have "Hold button for gear" checked as "yes". Then as soon as you disengange any gear button you will have nuetral

The wording might be slightly different I haven't played GTR2 for sometime now.

Well that's what I thought when poking around in the options, but when I selected that and went back on the track the car did not see any gear...as if every gear was neutral. That's when I made this post.
What I have since discovered is if you have already loaded the track and try to change it in options it does not work, you actually have to leave the session... change the option then reload the track.
