GTR 2

Shall we not discuss the WTCC mod here please? Unless you mean the E90 mod ofcourse. All other conversions are not allowed since there is no permission given by the original authors.

I have also tried this mod and found the graphics/sound exceptional. The fxx is a little too much for me to handle, but found the maserati, utlima and dbr9 a lot of fun. Do you need to make drastic setup changes to make the fxx drivable or simply a lot more practice?

The sounds are actually the best part of the mod, all of them are more accurate then pretty much any mod created for GTR2. As to the FXX there has been a huge negative response from a good part of the community at RSC regarding that. IMO that's really just opinion based, because none of us or the modders have had any experience on how the car drives apart from some youtube videos. Lets remember the car has 800bhp runs on special Michelin/Bridgestone tires. It is by no means in DBR9 territory in terms of cornering gs or otherwise. It's basically a track special 'road car' and it achieves that very well imo. It's hard to drive but quite rewarding. You have to go about it differently, as in start slow and gradually increase the agressiveness.

I find myself driving this mod more and more.

I'm going off comparing the sounds to real life and my own experience with audio work as well as comparing the sounds to GTR Evo GT car sounds which are far better IMO.

Also about the physics I'm getting feedback for the FFX from professonal racing drivers who I work with and they say the car is far from being realistic.

But each to their own and if your having fun then so be it :)

Do you not want to use FFB within the game? I would turn down the spring effect and damper effect to 0% in windows. Then in game change the settings to low with 100 % FFB.

In the GTR evo section there is a discussion on FFB and how to tweak.

I also have G25 with spring, damper settings at 0% AND FF effects LOW in game to dampen the canned effects. If you search around the internet you can find plenty of GTR2 G25 profiles to experiment with.

It is possible to race any group of cars together. You can create a gdb file (using others as a template, it's pretty straight forward) with the classes of the cars you want and then select in game. The classes can be ones created by you or you can use the ones already in the game. As long as the class in the gdb is the same as in the car file then you're mostly fine, just be careful with lots of similar classes. If you want the class "GT1" for example it will include "GT1xxx" i.e. GTR2 will include everything that starts with GT1.

I downloaded Race Manager from http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=9297 and you can create classes for large amounts of cars very easily. It saves you trawling through every car file.

Hope that's of some help.

In general (I can't think of a reason why but waiting to be proved wrong) higher rpm lead to faster laptimes. Since the engine is using higher revs this translates directly into the wheels spinning faster, therefore greater acceleration and higher top speed. The downside with using higher revs is that it puts more strain on the engine and all other connected components so it is more liable to break.

I use maximum revs in qualifying and then bring them down to default for a race. Just something worth noting with GTR2 is that the rev light doesn't change position respective to the limiter, so to use the extra revs to have to go further into the redline area.

I really liked the ngt class but have recently started driving the F550 in the GT class. It is a toss up between the two.

I also have the G25 and got it for the force feedback capability as I thought that this would give me a more immersible experience. I played around with the setting for months, researched a bunch of different sim racing sites, but was never really happy with the results. A few months ago, I decide to turn off ffb all together and set the centering spring force to 120%. I am much happier now.
