One of those weeks! Quali went pretty bad. Fastest lap was hindered by both shifting into neutral on one corner and running out of fuel exiting the last...
Luckily Han bogged it on the start and richard had a wobble out of T1 so i was right in behind ernie straight away.
Mid first stint I could feel the small gap to Ernies bmw closing a bit. On lap 10 I took the last corner too well... Coming past the apex and around the back of the corner, the gap to ernie closed by a chunk. I was sitting in his dirty air all of a sudden, understeered, slapped into the wall and spun.
Carried on licking my wounds.
Pitted not far behind richard about 5-6 seconds behind Han... Then it git interesting. The Ferrari mechanics lost the tyre guns and so the 488 had to carry on with the original set.. New territory for me. Ernie pulling it off in the Lambo recently gave me some confidence I could make it to the end!
In two minds about going back in for tyres, Han spun on the outlap, so I said I would just keep nursing it and not pit again. He was definitely getting by if there was even just one more lap at the end! I don't think it was the optimal strategy but definitely faster than going back in for a set of tyres
