rF2 GT3 @ Laguna Seca - Fri 27 May 2022 *Magic May 6/6*

rFactor 2 Racing Club event
Maybe on short notice…

On the one hand side I work today and tomorrow 9+ hours from 5:45 and the race will take place on 21:00 local time, so that will make it difficult. But then on the other hand it might be a nice two hours or so spending time doing what we love.

A maybe is good enough for me! ;P

I'm in please

Of course! :)

question: what do i wrong that i get no feel for the gt3 cars in rf2 anymore?
Racing with you guys is great, but rf2 makes me a bit frustrated.
The GTE are a bit better, but the gt3...

Although that is probably true after messing up 8 out of the last 9 races, nearly all of them in the lead, half of the time comfortably, I'm seriously considering just giving up on simracing.
Dont, you have the pace (pace people would kill for), now you just need to find the consistency.
When I saw you in the McLaren I knew you'd be quick, the car is quick and drives sort of like the Ferrari. So I knew you'd be quick in qually and in the first part of the race.
Tonight you had more pace than ever and much to my surprise, that pace didnt go down much as the race wore on, forcing me to go 100% to try and keep up which meant I made tiny little mistakes all the time, its for that reason I usually race at 98%.
When you went off I was starting to catch you ever so slightly (the McLaren drops a bit more performance than the Vette during a stint), but there's no way I'd have made it past, not at this track and not with the Vette being slightly down on power.

As for my race; well, this isnt really a Vette track, and I hate it, and I lacked mid corner speed and rotation but each time I tried something, the rear broke loose in places where I did NOT want it to. So I stuck with the safe setup and hoped for the best.
Got a decent start and managed to defend 2nd into T1 which was my main concern for the race, I could not afford getting a car between us. From there I set about following Michael which I just about could, the gap coming and going until Michael made a mistake and then spun off. Had he not, it'd have been difficult to pass, I was abusing my right front too, trying to negotiate it into turning in harder. In the end I did me best to not interfere with lapped traffic and their battles and brought it home from a much improved Ole!

No idea. I don't get that much feel in the Corvette either, but I chuck that down to my Logitech-wheel, and the fact that I haven't changed anything since 2016 or so. I should probably clean it up and start with a new controller profile...

You say that. While I look at the results (uploading now) and think... heh, I got 15 fastest laps out of 36. However, I agree that the Vette had a rear end looser than someone who's done porn for 40 years.

I genuinely think, if I had chosen the right side (figurelatively and literally) of Maciej when he spun, I'd be able to keep my concentration better, and actual catch you two fast guys for the first time ever.
I wish I knew why though. As always, I haven't tested rF2 since the last race here, and that's the theme for me. I race, never test.
Heh.

Results are up! Not another Grand Slam for @xoSx.Racing but his first "title" :) Congrats!
Remember, if you click "races" you can see all kinds of stats from the races! https://ommyrvold.net/rdrf2/magic_may.html

:confused::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Anyway - I was looking at your laptimes and comparing them to my own during the race and yeah, if you had been right behind from the start, you'd have been able to challenge us. Just like Maciej did before he went off. My Vette's rear end is usually rock solid with good turn in and mid corner, but for some reason the mid corner went away in the race. I THINK it was the 6 degree temp increase between qually and race that did it, but my setup wasnt on point either.

That temp increase is a bit misleading. The server weather is "scripted" in the sense that it always loads in the server settings when it changes session. Then when the session is loaded in, it loads the data from the RealWeather plugin. So when it jumped to race-session, the first 5-10 seconds it will show the server default settings on temperature. Then it loads in the RealWeather stuff. The race should've started at 14-15 degrees, and by the forecast it might've gone up a couple during the race.

I do however not know how any overlays, SimHub or not are handling this.

To me the cars are all quite different so it's worth trying them all. The McLaren for example I had to set the FFB multiplier to 70% and it was still much heavier than the Ferrari. I would like to use the Merc from time to time but the FFB felt completely broken the last time I tried. Try playing with the FFB multiplier to see if you get more feel? What wheel are you using?

Thanks, I just keep doing the same stupity every time. I lead, have a gap but then go "oh, 2.5 secs are not enough, I have to push more". Then I overpush, start making mistakes, loose time instead of gaining, push more, and so on. Also managed to get 2 cut warnings in the first 5 minutes, completely stupid and made me completely loose any rythm whatsoever. Even at 98% the gap would have grown but no, I have to go 100% all the time, even when the gap is 20 seconds.

@Ole Marius Myrvold did you change the damage settings? Car was completely destroyed after I hit the wall spinning. Couldn't drive in a straight line anymore. Never had that before. Or is this another rf2 thing where some cars just fall apart while others don't take a hit?
