AC GT3 @ Bathurst - Sunday 15th May 2022

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
That was a fun race. You can't beat Bathurst! I joined late after being away for the weekend. With no practice, a steam update and no sound on the car meant spending the qualy sorting gears, fuel and tyre pressures from the portimao setup. Luckily the setup was a really good fit and I know the track really well so could get one half decent lap in.

It was nice to be able to qualify and race the soft tyres on the ferrari. It makes for more fun racing with the nissans, bmw etc. that run them in nearly every race. I had a good battle with @Gelly916 and @640er throughout. The guys had the better pace on the fresh tyres but when half the stint fuel came out of the 488 it really started to shine going over the mountain. Alex had a really good race on, I guess, a mediums/1 litre strategy. He came out ahead on myself and Andreas late on. Andreas powered past on the back straight but put it the wall pretty hard soon after, coming down the dipper to the hairpin, in front of Alex. This meant I could jump 2 places. Andres blew straight by again in the nissan and was ahead at the kink. As quick as the nissan and AMG were on the conrod straight, the ferrari made all that time back in the chase corner. Maybe a questionable overtake up to p4 there... I will need to look at it again. I lifted too much at the kink to let andreas have the outside (Enzo and Joel make it look easy!) and made outbraking into the chase alot more difficult than it needed to be.

Han was too far ahead. Required another 10 minutes for a chance at the podium! A sloppy qualy and a mistake into the chase early on trying to pass Alex probably cost me that chance. Need to be on the ball early in the ferrari!

Thanks to all for racing. Great to have a big turnout for the mountain!
Congrats to Enzo and the podium! Hopefully see you all at barcelona next week

I said we would give the RSS cars 3 races to see how they go(this is the 3rd). It would be interesting to hear people's feeling on them in the thread below. Obviously the BOP seems to be an issue, or maybe a good thing depending on your point of view :) Let us know.

Great race we had Brian and Andreas. Yes, I did choose the medium/1 liter strategy. It almost paid off! Had a few offs that cost me probably 5 seconds combined, would have been a VERY close finish had I been able to keep it clean. As much as I liked that strategy, it's really tough to race like that, with essentially one hand tied behind your back. Think I'll go the more traditional strategy for next week's race. See you lot then!

Great pace with the AMG. Never saw someone being competitive with it.
