Congrats to the Han(k)s for the battle! A shame I did the wrong strategy of refueling 30 litres, which cost me 5 seconds + many extra for unknown reasons :roflmao: Before the pit stop, I had been battling very close with Han. I had a lot of fun :) especially in the first and second sectors, I think I was faster than him and sometimes I was scared because I almost tapped him (I braked a bit later). But he was really fast in the last sectors :thumbsup:
During the laps I kept on track, I was doing 9 high-10 low, so it surprised me to leave pits 12 seconds behind Han. Therefore, my second part of the race was a bit boring, 6 seconds behind Brian. It didn't help to have a Real Madrid vs ManCity of women's Champions League in the TV (next to my PC screen :D).

Sorry to Richard Barratt because in my lap after pits I didn't know he was just a couple of seconds behind me and, after doing a few mistakes in that lap (surprised by how cold the tyres were), I disturbed him :( At least, in the esses I saw him on my right, I got very scared but I lift to let him pass. But sorry for not having realized that you were there.

It's always fun to drive in Bathurst even if we're just 9 drivers. Good choice of cars, I'm always in favour of 1-2 cars (and fixed setup would be a dream hahaha). If I have time to prepare Wednesday's race decently, I'll try to join you guys.
Have a nice week!

Mistake No 1
I'd not checked the track temp in the event config so had been practicing with the normal GT3 temps. This seemed to affect the tyre wear.

Mistake No 2
My "splash and dash/no tyre change" strategy didn't work as the softs only lasted half way - so ended up carrying a load of fuel in the first half for no reason and still needed a tyre change.

Mistake No 3
Spun in the narrowest part of the mountain section and couldn't turn round.

Apart from that, perfect race!

First I really did not realise the straight line speed of the Porsche, that was my first shock.
Second shock being 2 seconds off the pace, thought I must be doing something silly, kept checking the setup.:( ( track temps ):O_o:
I am pretty sure it would not have made any difference to the outcome, the Porsche was always going to overtake on either long straight, even following the Porsche right on its tail. Still it just walked away.:(
But a special well done to the three Porsche podiums, and a special hard luck to Han and Hank on his come back.
Maybe different circuits will even it out, I was certainly a lot quicker in places compared to the Porsche..
It is that quite weird set of parameters, lower track temperatures and the Porsche take a hit, high track temps and the P4 takes a hit. But when I was following Hank on a lap per lap basis , I was not having much of a problem to keep up.
It made for a very interesting race, one I really enjoyed, the only let down was Bathurst circuit.

Oddly in this race i never had a battle or got close to anyone really!

Poor strategy and a spin braking for the last corner maybe cost me a win but others had their troubles too!
Maybe didn't send it hard enough when I had the lower fuel load in the first stint. The long refuel meant Han came out 2 seconds ahead from about 8 - 10 seconds behind me before I stopped.
Following Han and getting no closer I lost concentration and just ever so slightly touch the grass on the braking/turn in point for the last corner :( It would have a least made for a really nice 3 way battle for the lead if I kept it pointing straight.

Hank came out of the the pits a second behind Han and I was 2 behind when I spun. Would have been fun :)

The podium probably ended up in the fairest order in the end :) Great recovery driving from Hank. Congrats on the win!

Thanks to everyone for taking part in a fairly experimental event. I thought both cars were nice to drive and probably worth looking at again individually at least. Might take an alien in both cars, on a more conventional track, to tell if the performance of both cars is similar enough for them to be racing together. The straight line speed seemed to favour the porsche, according to @Kek700 on the radio anyway :)

Your lap times were pretty close to the 911s ernie. The P 4/5 needing to swap the soft tyres may be the spanner in the works. If the setup can be tweaked to get the mediums working better, add in a twistier track, that could balance them out nicely.

First race back after a week away and it was a sweaty one. Sat down behind the wheel last night after a day of driving and haven't felt so disconnected to the wheel since I got it . Almost considered backing out, but I'm glad I stuck with it  Not sure if Ernie was though  Got stuck in my "draft" for a few laps there.

I liked the "lack" of car choice. I don't give the 911's their due being a bit outside my comfort zone, but being stuck in one for an hour here gets you acquainted fast with their quirks :) Pretty fun, maybe one weekend we could mirror the IMSA/FIA schedule and do a Porsche cup race in place of GT3s :coffee:

Good racing everyone, nice to go up and down the mountain here knowing the drivers around you respect your line (to a reasonable degree ;) :D)

Why don't folks just use the practice server
Although it's nice that there is a practice server thanks, and I occasionally go on especially if I spot someone else on, I normally do most of my prep offline so that I can 'mess around' doing things like practice starts, AI races, practice pitstops, hotlaps, and of course plenty of crashing without affecting anyone else (lol!)

Given this I do take great care to check the event configuration and occasionally have got my offline settings better than the practice server (I think Han might recall one practice server he accidentally set wrong - these things happen to the best of us!).

That said races with a track temp higher than 36C seem a problem to configure in CM (whatever I do I can get AC to start higher than 36C road temp). Although I appreciate that there is the fallback of the practice server does anyone know how to config higher than 36C on CM (for my practice reasons above)?

As sadly on this occasion even the modest extra 2 degrees did seem to make a difference to how the softs lasted, but hey ho!

Is it possible to configure higher track temps if you don't use CM?
