GPTCC Flashback: Black's Turkish Dream
At the 6th race of the 5th Grand Prix Touring Car Championship season, Danish driver Andy Black stormed to pole position in a rainy qualifying, ahead of Greek Manolis Sigoulakis. In Race 1, Black had a great start to his race at the Turkish track, and held off the Greek by 4 seconds, giving him the victory.
With Race 2 being a reverse grid race, he finished 15th which prompted him to start 1st on the grid for Race 3, ahead of rival Aidan Keranen.
In Race 3, it was the most exciting race for the fans who attends the circuit for the weekend. Black started from the front row and leaded the whole field, ahead of 2KF1 Racing driver Nathan Cornes. Cornes was behind him, but also behind was two Apex Racing Team drivers. But it was late for Cornes, as Andy Black stormed to a double victory at Istanbul. A post-race interview came from the Dane:
"It's really hard to say if I can be a championship contender but it might be easy if my teammate can be that. We could also be chasing for the Constructors' Championship title but I'll need more podiums and strong results so I can be in the Top 5. If we can close the gap to 2KF1 and McNamara in the next races I'll be pretty sure my teammate can be champion and then I can be in the Top 5 or Top 10."
