I would like to join more races but I usually stick to once a week since some practice is needed and time is an issue these days. However the Ginetta's are pretty cool so I'll see if I can make it.
I used to practice a lot before racing when I first started this hobby. Mostly I needed to because otherwise I was a complete liability to anyone else near me on track, but more recently I have figured out how to learn a track a lot quicker, so now I try and treat it like a real race in which track time would be limited and only practice the combo during the event practice. Running the events makes this approach a bit more tricky, so I try and limit the testing for events down to a lap or two to just get a feel for if the combo is going to be a no-go, e.g. these things at Cadwell Park. Personally, this has made the whole hobby a lot more enjoyable for me as I tend to have a much more relaxed attitude during the race now.I would like to join more races but I usually stick to once a week since some practice is needed and time is an issue these days. Hi Steve,I've been on a long hiatus from sim racing but this week I decided to dust off my neglected rig, reup my RD premium membership, and get back into some club racing. Every race needs some backmarkers, so sign me up. This track and car combo is sweet! Bear with me as I get back into the swing of things and I'll do my best to stay out of everyone's way. My goal is to finish the race. Please PM me the details on how to get on the server and discord. Thanks!

If you hit another driver during a Club race and disadvantage them, you are required to slow (or stop your car if necessary) to let the other driver regain the position on you. This shows respect to your fellow drivers and will encourage drivers to be more careful. Please use some care when letting the other driver regain position, and do not immediately stop your car on the racing line where it can cause further accidents.
Bram has always managed to get a decent crowd on his Friday events. It might be the specifics of the event, but I think Bram has a certain J'ne c'est quoi tooPs: if you look at the attendees on Friday with Bram in the Mini's at Spa this is quite the attendance! Not sure if it's the day or time or class, but these are the grid numbers we need also on the other days.
It's a strong competition between this race and the rF2 oneI'm on rf2 Historic duty tonight,
This is really interesting, so what is the magic trick to learn the track so quick? Depending on the combo I usually need 1-2 hours to get up to speed. If you take car setups seriously that also takes a reasonable amount of time and I doubt if the car gets slower or faster My reference point is the AI, which I have set on 105%. If I can drive circles around them I know it's ok to be competitive online.I used to practice a lot before racing when I first started this hobby. Don't get wrong, I'm usually still learning during qualifying and the race and often put in faster laps in the race than qualifying, but I can usually get well within half a second of my fastest pace during the whole event by the start of the race unless either the track or car are very tricky. This is really interesting, so what is the magic trick to learn the track so quick? Welcome Lloyd!Pop me on the list please @GeekyDeaks
Exactly, this is a nice summary of my tactic as well. Start slow and build from there. Quite some cars have understeer which can be solved by braking technique as well, without changing setup. I drive in vr occassionally which indeed is superior for judging corners and exits. But I'm waiting for 7900 xtx prices to drop to get the full potential out of it.Don't get wrong, I'm usually still learning during qualifying and the race and often put in faster laps in the race than qualifying, but I can usually get well within half a second of my fastest pace during the whole event by the start of the race unless either the track or car are very tricky.
I find VR a massive help when learning a new track as it's so much easier to judge the corners, but my main thing is to start nice and steady, looking for braking references that help me to remember the corner (i.e. not the generic boards). Then it's just a case of moving the references forward until the exit feels compromised and playing around in that area with the balance of the car on the brakes and the gas.
Yes, I had just finished recording the replays and came to the same conclusion. Thank you for being honest and objective about it. I didn't think either looked malicious, but please everyone, try and leave space for your fellow racers, especially when we are spread over several different continents with significant RTTs. And please, please, please remember the golden rule. Anyone who repeatedly doesn't give back the places is going to get hit by the ban hammer as I don't want that to become a 'everyone does it' kind of thingJust watched the replay of race 1, seems I caused the mayhem in the first corner by going wide and took out TAS as well, all in 1 lap. Sorry for that guys
Ah it happens, we'll bang some doors during the mini race soon enoughJust watched the replay of race 1, seems I caused the mayhem in the first corner by going wide and took out TAS as well, all in 1 lap. Sorry for that guys
You had a nice pace for a returnee chap!Who drove through me at the start? It's a little annoying but it may have been latency issues and my car wasn't damaged. Still managed P4 which is much better than I thought I'd do after such a long break.
Had a lot of fun on the first race. Was very bummed my computer wouldn't cooperate for race 2. Won't be alt-tabbing out again. Thanks for organizing, Scott.
