AC Fat-Alfie Championship Round 1@Bilster Berg, Wed 18th September 2024

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
..Rest of the race i was trying to keep Bouke off my rear :cautious: :cautious: he seems to like rubbing my chuff...in practice, in the race....moving on..
yeah, I had to learn the early braking points of the renault the hard way  . In the race I spent more than 10 laps or so trying to put the better cornering and exit speeds of the mazda to good use without killing you. Let’s say that the ‘not killing you’-part worked most of the time  . Ah well, One day I’ll learn :geek:

Fat-Alfie championship, babyyyy! What a race and what a result. Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would get a podium in this championship. Not with all the crazy fast drivers we have here. Congrats to Fulvio and Thomas for P1 and P2. You guys were on another level this race. And just 1 second between you at the end?!

For some 45 minutes I was chasing Hank's tail. Qualified in third, just in front of Hank, but he had a very nice move up his sleeve to take the position from me in the first turn. We continued where we left at TT Assen. It was so, so difficult to overtake him. I poked my nose into every corner where I could but he defended it all so elegantly. These German drivers are something else... Hank, Thomas, Carsten, they all drive like pure gentlemen, racing hard yet still being very respectful.

A slight slip-up in the Chicane of Death by Hank meant that I could get right behind him up until the long left hander where I threw my car into the inside and just slightly came out in front afterwards. For the next 3 laps my heart was beating out of my chest trying to stay in front and not mess up. I might wear a heart monitor for the next one. Should be funny to see how that lines up with how the race went.

Now we move onto the next ones. With every race the Mazda's advantage will decrease while the Abarths and Renaults will get the upper hand. I'm very curious to see how the Renault is going to do vs the Abarth on the tracks with longer straights. Let's see if Allan made a genius move and he'll crush us all or that he made the wrong gamble.

I'm so happy this championship has started again. Thank you Han for organizing everything. Btw, regarding your question about the Bruschied championship: I'm all for more championships during the year. I didn't leave a "love" because I don't really care what type of championship it's going to be, so others may vote for that. I think it would be nice and maybe attract more drivers if we have more championships. That way we will have something to fight for instead of these stand alone races we've been doing. It also might excite some people if they see their favorite tracks bundled together. But don't get me wrong: I still love driving at all these new and unknown tracks that you curate for us and don't want to see that dissapear. Just some thoughts!

Whoops, that got a little long... Thanks everyone and hope to see you all (and more) next time!

If you're enjoying Fat Alfie tracks then we'd love you to join the parallel series with the Tornado. It's a very drivable car and the extra speed is a real blast on these tracks.

There is a Tornado race at Watkins glen tomorrow if you want a try out. I'll post a setup if you want a good start point.
