damn! huge lag spike from mattias towards the end of the race. sent me into the air and barriers! was doig well on a 2 stop strategy.

fun race anyway. avoided carnage and also a potential crash with shboob when he cut across me at t4. better luck next time i guess!

Qualifying - 7th

Cant really say much, was 2 tenths slower than my PB

Race - 11th

Was taken out by Mitchell in T1, so was last by 6 seconds going into S2. Raced my way up to 11th, so had I not been taken out I would have been 8th or 9th. But these things happen.

Drivers: Martijn Boontje and Alex Burton
Lap: 20
Required: I'd like to get the penalty removed, due to giving the place back.

We touched in the hairpin, got a penalty for it but let him by before the last turn. (as you can see in the positions in the upper left of the screen at that time) Its hard to see but that was how I saw that he was ahead, as I was planning to go into the pits.

Q 3rd, WHAT A LAP. Thankyou Ash for the great tow on the long backstraight. For a second I was afraid you wouldn't even let my trough haha.

R: 7th
Had a great few first laps where I overtook Frede and was up into 2nd.
But after the first stop it just went downhill as everyone were like a snake at the backstraight with their DRS's and I had no DRS whatsoever. So I was a sitting duck and lost many places due that.

Video up soon.

  1. Have you added my PSN? Nope but will add Jamie instead.
  2. Does the Bahrain night race look nicer than Abu Dhabi and Singapore? It's looks decent but a stretch to say it looks nicer. Those tracks/location are on a different level than Bahrain.
  3. What are your thoughts on Domenicali stepping down from Ferrari? Guess it's time for a change which hopefully will bring Ferrari back where it belongs; at the top.
  4. Who will take pole, the race win, and the fastest lap? Dan, Dan, Dan
  5. Are you racing? I plan on it

Q: 13th
R: 10th

Had an average qualifying session. I decided to qualify on primes and lapped 0.2 off my PB, had I matched my PB perhaps I could have been 1 or 2 positions higher but not too much difference would have been made.

The race was okay, but there were a lot of things that could have been better. At the start going through turns 1-3 I got a bit of a nudge from somebody, fortunately I only dropped a handful of positions which I made up at the start and it was nowhere near as bad as what happened to Jamie. Then heading into turn 5 I got hit off the circuit by Ash.

Starting on the primes put me on a different strategy to a lot of people so I was working on putting in consistent lap times to put me in the best position possible. I had a few battles here and there but nothing noteworthy that was massively entertaining. I was put off the circuit again about midway through the race going through turn 7 by Jamie. I had about half a car alongside his and then heading to turn 8 he moved over to get a wider entry arc which forced me off the circuit. In fairness, I probably shouldn't have tried such an opportunistic manoeuvre having been out of racing for a while.

Without these two incidents I think I would have been in contention to challenge Lynchy for 6th, but by the sounds of things he had his own incidents too so perhaps 7th/8th would have been a more realistic result. For a returning race, I don't think it was too bad but the pace of the front running drivers certainly surprised me, I didn't expect the gap to be that big. I guess if I were to take a full time drive I'd have to put in a lot of lappery to get back to the positions I want to be fighting for.

Thanks for the race guys, hopefully there's another space going next week at Bahrain.

In response to Josh; How can you say that's your championship chances gone? This was round 3 of 19, only a fool would say his chances are gone after one race so early in the season.

Quali: 1st
First pole since Austin S5 on F1 2012! I actually still felt that there was time to gain but I was very pleased with the lap. I actually went one tenth faster than my PB. It's always nice to pull it off when it matters.

Race: 2nd
Got off to a good start and had a second lead after lap 1. I felt that I had the race under control until later - I was making good progress through traffic after my pitstops and it wasn't until Lap 17 or so where Frede really started to close in and I knew I was in danger of the undercut.

That is exactly what happened when Frede pitted a lap before me when he was 1.8 seconds behind. I came out just behind him and was 1.5 seconds behind by the time my tyres were up to temp. I knew if I just kept it clean I would be able to pass him once his tyres started to give up. It's what made my mistake at T1 so annoying - I just turned in a fraction too early which made my brakes lock on the grass and I went straight on. Once you do make that mistake you automatically lose loads of time and I was almost 4 seconds behind.

I'm sure Frede managed the gap to an extent after this but the fact that I only ended up a second behind suggests that I would have had a great chance of overtaking him towards the end if it wasn't for a really stupid mistake. It was a fully deserved win though because I think he was slightly faster than me. I think the reason I gained time was because I was a bit better through traffic but in clean air he was matching me on older tyres for the majority of the race.

Coming into this race though I would have definitely taken second as it's not my best track. Bahrain isn't my best track either but after that I've got a run of tracks where I really hope I can get a few wins. I'm just happy to get podiums at the moment though - podiums is what will win you championships!

I'm sure more will turn up than post, is usually the way :)

Well two practise races on a fresh track, 40 second improvement between them both... even though the second one I hit Chilton so hard I knocked my (wing and) right side mirror off... bloody back markers... and I had a drive through... yeah, this track bites. It's not just the back markers either, these kerbs seem to be like loveable pet velociraptors. Fine fine fine fine fine fine rip your throat out.

*message from the stewards*
We would like to remind all drivers that telling the stewards how to do their jobs by virtue of which penalty someone should receive isn't going to do you any good. We follow our protocol and will make the decisions we see fit.
