You sure had a difficult race those first laps... :D but nice comeback to get into second place in the end. :)
When you passed me on the last lap I didn't even think about defending my position, I had absolutely no grip at all in my inters, to much water on the track, so I thought best let you pass cleanly so I don't give you any nasty surprises on the last lap :D

thanks jan. the second half of the race i drove well, got used to the car not pulling up. at the end my car felt GREAT and i was able to catch quite easily. i could tell you were not going to fight, thx again.

interesting thing i noticed...in the heavy rain, on full wets, my car was braking better than in the dry/primes ??? i had great traction out of corners so my top speed was the same but i was having to get off the brakes to get to the corner sometimes...have no idea why?
 
Thanks for the race guys. I totally f*ck up my race because the weather predict was heavy rain 55% so I went 4 hotlaps on my options hoping that the track will be already wet when the race comes. Unfortunately not. It was full dry so I had to start with my bad options. I made a mistake in the first lap which made room for Italian and Darco to pass me. First I had a good fight with Draco then with my friend Italian just like in the Valencia practices! :) This track is fast so it's easy to miss the ideal line and hard to stay behind somebody.

Maybe im missing something here, i have never even thought about tyres until seeing your post.

I just stick 8 laps of fuel in and go out on my options.

Should i come back in and change onto unused options before the start of the race, any advice would be appraciated.
 
well I was quiet dissappointed with my qualy lap, I only managed to do a 1.32,8 on primes. I had to let people pass in my hot-lap twice( I didn't want to hold up someone). So that cost me 2 hotlaps and because I had to let someone pass I couldn't make to do another hot-lap, as I was just a second too late at the finish.

Then the race starts. I had a good start, was able too overtake Joempie and after meckets and baggots I found my self up in 5th place. But I was on primes so the frontrunners easily got away from me. when they pit the gap was already 11 seconds. Meanwhile andrew passed me, I made a mistake, I didn't defend my place anymore as I didn't want to held up andrew. Then Italienred and zomacher got behind me again. Italienred got a better exit out of Luffield and he passed me, but before turning in for cops corner he gives me a little push, I get into the grass and so Zomacher passed me.

When I pitted Dr Darcon got behind me. When I came out the gap was 22 seconds to zomacher and 17 to Dr Darcon. But to my astonishment I couldn't get closer to them. I was really struggling om primes, I was suffering heavy understeer especially when they were worn.how are you guys so fast on your primes, please tell me!!
so the gap remains 22 seconds. then Italienred pitted in lap 24 I think. but in the last lap I had no grip and made to many mistakes and italienred passed me again.

I had a quiet lonely race but I learned alot, I hope I'm much faster tomorrow.

I have noticed something similar sometimes, but with Options/Primes, like they had swithed place....

Looks like you had a bit of a lonely race too, and by the sound of it, massive wheelspin when accelerating...?

Jamesscotland,Most of us do 2-3 hotlaps with fuel for 4-5 laps in qualy, and then a second session with fresh options again with fuel for max 5 laps ( lighter car. )Do the first lap each time in standard or cruise and try two hotlaps in fast engine mode, then come in the pit and do the same again with new tyres..... Or for example you can do first session on primes and if you see you are way back on the grid you can still do a second session on options.... Not unfrequently are the fastest laps set with the fuel light on yellow or red

grats good race all,dont worry about the bump there darco,its ok.
I did also 4 laps on my options the quali,I had a very good first stint on option I mad a gap like more then 5 sec on the second person,I went to the pit ,nice pitstop aswell,evrything was going well till I made a mistake on my primes where zomacher closed the gap ,I had a big fair clean lovely fight,at the end of the race I finaly could make a small gap,then It starts to rain,I made a error ,I did not now if it was of the rain or just a mistake,zomacher passed me there,2 more laps to go,I just took the risk to go to pit and hoped there will be mutch more rain,I only could catch insidematie again,but darco and zomacher who not pitted and stayed out with the primes where still fast enough to take P1 and P2 ,I needed one more round with that rain and I would catched them,but it was not enough,abit dissapointed in my result because your in lead like 24 laps and at the end your losing it :)
but I"m happy that I could catch inside again so I still get on the podium and I can wave on the Tv camera.
good that andrew was unlucky today.

ye sorry mattie,I was passed you but I thought I was far enough to go on the racingline to take the corner,but I turned a little to early,I felt a little touch.I should went abit further and then I should went to the racing line.I was infront of you but I just was abit to fast in turning my car infront.sorry again
