Codemasters Lee Mather confirms the career mode of the upcoming F1 2019 won't support a full season of Formula Two.

Although players of the new game will get the opportunity to complete a full campaign in the feeder series via Championship mode, it looks like you won't be able to race completely in the Formula Two category before stepping up to the main series as part of a progression within the career mode aspect of the title.

According to a tweet by Mather, the F2 portion of the career mode will consist of "3 events, with a narrative" - which if I'm honest feels like something of a missed opportunity from Codemasters.

Quite how this all plays out in F1 2019 is yet to be formally revealed, and it is worth noting that a full season can still be enjoyed in the standalone championship mode within the title, so players looking forward to having some fun in the lower rungs of single seater racing don't need to enter full panic mode just yet!

Interestingly, Mather also mentions something about retirements and drivers moving within the game world - although frankly I'm not quite sure exactly what that means or how it will be represented within the game come release day next month.

More information to follow as and when it becomes available.

F1 2019 is due to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC June 2019.

I can care less. It's not like it will stop the Red Jackets here from organizing a season of F2 for all of us. I'm pretty sure you can create races on all tracks with F2 and then juts complete the last 3 in the career to get to F1.

So have I, and both of us knew exactly the dinner we paid for. And we both got nine dinners for our money. You have had the option to NOT pay every year Frank.
And now - the tenth dinner comes with a free dessert. Darn what a good deal.
I think our opinions and perspectives are quite a bit different, which is OK.

Having viewed the first view video’s of the F2 on the RD youtube channel, I have to say the F2 is really disappointing regarding external sounds and I am missing the typical backfires visually these F2 cars have. I’ve been to the Spa GP last year and have seen and heard quite a few of these F2 2018 cars driving by from about 20-30 meters. The Formula RSS 2 in AC is much better on these points.

Looks like for VR another F1 game to be played with Vorpx. If Codemasters hasnt implemented VR by now, dont expect them to do it in this version also. Enjoy these games, but F1 2018 is the last version I will be getting cause not much changes track wise and I dont get into Championship modes with these games. I have no complaints just dont need to spend more money on these F1 games unless maybe they do start to implement full VR mode.

Yet another 'hey, let's add this feature, but not really' nonsense.

Why can I only change liveries in MP but not in career? Why can't I run a full season of F2 in career? Why can rivals replace existing drivers, but existing drivers not replace each other (licensing, I know, I know, but it still annoys me)? There is so much potential here that is being left behind year after year. Why they felt the need to add a narrative is beyond me as well, taking away precious development time from core features. I at least wish they would've added the potential to decide over settings whether the user wants to complete a full F2 season or not, but once again the power is not given to the users. Infinitely frustrating, especially because it all seems within reach every time they release the game, if only they tweaked certain things by a tiny margin.
It's kind of like the NHL games. You can play in the WHL, QMJHL, OHL and stuff, you know the farm leagues, but can only compete from the point the teams reached the play offs. They however have fixed this feature and allow the player to choose if they want to play a full season in the juniors, join from the play offs or jump straight in to the NHL. The better you play in the junior leagues the higher up you will be drafted. I hope F1 will be like this some day.

not sure if already mentioned there is another dearer version

F1 2019 Legends Edition includes:
  • F1 2019 base game
  • Ayrton Senna and his 1990 McLaren MP4/5B
  • Alain Prost in his Ferrari F1-90
  • Exclusive Senna and Prost themed multiplayer car liveries
  • Drivers’ likenesses added to Career mode
  • Two race-winning cars from 2010 season: the Ferrari F10 and McLaren MP4-25
  • THREE days early access

Milk it for all it's worth

Seems like Codies want to have their own version of "The Journey". Nothing wrong with that, but I expected more. With no full F2 integration, no driver transfers and no virtual mirror, and considering F1 2018 is actually quite awesome already, I'll be probably skipping this one.

And the dessert is soy based, vegan, and the ice cream on the side is made from broccoli....
What I meant was, "free dessert? awesome" but then it is slightly disappointing...
Free Ice Cream! *Children scream with joy* Only one flavour, chunky tofu... *everyone goes awwwww*

But hey, something is better than nothing, the free 25% coupon and free side dish next time for me would be allowing me to drive as myself in championship mode for f2, instead of driving as Sean Gelael whilst pretending it's still me...

Sorry if I misinterpreted, but does this mean that we could mod championship mode, and there would be a possibility to mod the f2 championship series so that we can run the f2 season as our career mode character?

Wouldn't it suck to have to drive all but the last 3 races as Louis Deletraz?!

or even worse, Sean Gelael xD
