F1 2017 Modding Questions Thread

is there anyway to modify the amount of R&D points you have through the game files or something, also is it possible to "activate" upgrades through the game files? missing one point for a major upgrade which kinda sucks since I was hoping to get it on the car for abu dhabi...
 
How to do you change car models/ chasis in F1 2017. I'v e tried doing it the same way as 2016 but the paint and decal does not change. Any help?

You need to change these marked lines.
I changed the Renault model to the Toro Rosso model, and it worked perfectly (you have to import the Toro Rosso files into the lotus.erp after you've changed this)
 
If you want to just change the basic shape of the helmet, you need to export the .xml and find the following lines;

Then copy the line I highlighted (2nd arrow) and paste it into the part I highlighted here;

You can do this for any driver and/or any helmet. However, it is important to note that just changing this line will only give you the basic model of the helmet; To really make it work you will need to change the helmet_d and helmet_n as well.
Here I changed the .xml to change my career driver's helmet (Bell) into a Schuberth. This is the only thing I changed, but notice how the textures don't line up (helmet_d) and the two vents on the front are still shaped as a Bell helmet (helmet_n).

You can edit the file using notepad, but make sure you save it as an .xml. Then import it back into incardriver.erp and don't forget to save. Make sure you make a backup of the .xml to fall back to in case you screw up.

Now I tried that with AI helmets, I put career helmet model to nico hulkenberg's helmet, but then it took textures from gen_1 helmet. How to fix this?
 
how to change the head?
Well...it's tougher than it looks.

You're going to have to find someone with the same diameter neck as the current neck.
There is a lot of cutting and splicing of the head onto the body region which is tedious, but satisfying work.

Oh...and make sure that the head and body have the same blood type.

Oh...and make sure to have permission to remove said head first. If you don't think you can get permission, then don't ask.

by using McLaren or Mercedes chassis, as far as I'm aware there's no way to fix the issue of invisible numbers when using any model except McLaren or Mercedes on those teams. Using McLaren or Mercedes chassis outside of the teams also causes the same problem. You can technically get around it by swapping around the mat binding line in the carmode json but then you don't have numbers on the cars

The easiest way is to edit the car performance files.

For instance, to boost McLaren up the field I've edited the file to make McLaren have a Renault engine, Ferrari chassis, and the Mercedes aero.

Alonso is never out of the top 10 unless something terrible happens and on certain tracks he is easily in the top five and can get podiums (Australia 6th, Spain 3rd, Monaco 5th, Canada 8th in my current season of career mode.)

In order to get qualifying correct though, you have to sit through the entire thing without fast forwarding OR do one shot quali.
And where are those performance files? I can only find the xtml one and that has almost no impact on the AI
