Codemasters have dropped a surprise new DiRT Rally 2.0 update today - bringing the popular rally title to version 1.6.
  • Final update.
  • Ford Fiesta R5 MKII Released.
  • Misc. game fixes.

Sad to say the development journey of the excellent DiRT Rally 2.0 is coming to an end with this new update, as Codemasters divert their full attention to the more arcade focussed DiRT 5 release. That said, new content is always a welcome addition to any game, and the solid foundations laid down by the studio for this very enjoyable rally title should provide plenty more entertainment for gamers in the months ahead.

Version 1.6 Update Notes:

Content:

  • New car: Ford Fiesta R5 MKII
Note:
Car is available to all players in modes outside of My Team.

To unlock the car for use in My Team, take part in a DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Qualifier and you'll get it when the Event Week ends.

Cars:
  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated engine audio based on new recordings of real-world car.
  • Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Ford Escort MK2 - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
  • Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec - Updated rear-view mirrors to show reflected images.
World Rallycross Championship
  • Removed AI driver names which were mistakenly appearing when using 2019-spec cars.
Colin McRae Scenarios:
  • Resolved issue where Used tyres were displaying as New in Service Areas.
Miscellaneous:
  • Added ability to select Paraguay as a driver nationality.
  • Made various minor (not notable) bugfixes across the game.

This is currently the final update planned for DiRT Rally 2.0.

The Ford Fiesta R5 MKII will be unlocked for all players to purchase in My Team Garage menu in early 2021, however this does not require a game update.

DiRT Rally 2.0 is available now for both console and PC.

This is on sale right now, 75% off. Game of the Year Edition under $20 CAD, not bad.

Thanks for the link! Might buy the goty edition now.
I've bought the base game when it came out, thought I'd grab a season pass later on...
Sadly all sales only ever reduced the base game and no single dlcs or the upgrade pack.

Now the goty edition is pretty cheap but I'm still annoyed by the fact that I'm gonna pay for the base game again.

Never gonna buy any base games from codies again, always wait for the full package, argh.

I never thought i will say this but i like wrc9 much more than dirt2.0 at least you can feel what car is doing on wrc9, but on dirt2.0 it is still ffb some kind of strange. Dirt 1 i liked by the way...
I'm not very experienced in either but so far I tend to agree with you. I'm really enjoying the stages in WRC9 although the Scottish stages in DR2.0 do hold a special place in my heart.:)

So in other words...they'll never fix VR to be nothing more than a slideshow.
Good to know, thanks.
Not sure what you are talking about. DR2 is a lot less resource hungry than other current racing games in VR. The early builds had some issues with rain on the windscreen, inpenetrable fog /snow in the sweden stages and microstuttering because of a very stupid usb polling implementation, but all that is fixed and I see no major issues with VR. Well maybe that we still can't name our setups in VR and the decision to not let us save the replays, it would be so much easier to record in flatpanel mode.

I've run Dirt Rally at 120 fps and can play it with all settings MAXED at 90 fps, so it's quite a bit better than a slide show.

ACC is a much harder load for VR. Lucky to run that at 90fps. Many only run it at 80 fps.
Curious: How does rain look in your game? For me it is unbearable in VR, big droplets i cant see through. Its more like snow and really ugly. Wirhout VR it looks splendid as it should be

Nice to see an update, tho admittingly I never got into this title due to the ffb. As someone who's driven several types off off-road vehicles on trails and fire roads I just never found the ffb to informative or believable.

Hopefully Codies will utilize the madness engine for Dirt 3 with it's live track dynamic weather and loose surface physics which I feel is an absolute must for a rally game.

My experience with rain in VR was pretty bad too.
Tried an RX race and the side windows looked like I was driving through a carwash just sitting at the starting grid

Just jumped in to do some testing with the Reverb. Did Codies not manage to fit mouse support in VR into that compact 14gb patch?

Tells you all you need to know, really.

I specifically mapped a 4 way joystick for arrow keys a couple momentary 3 way switches for menu navigation and an Enter, Cancel and ESC button on a button box so I could play without a keyboard in VR.

But I agree that mouse navigation is MUCH better and DR 2.0 is the only title that I use those controls for.

Also I've NEVER run Dirt Rally 2.0 in anything but VR so I have no comparison for how rain looks.
