Kunos Simulazioni have confirmed the stunning new BMW M6 GT3 will be coming to the Assetto Corsa racing simulation in 2017. Today's announcement brings and end to recent speculation regarding the possibility of the BMW car list receiving an update towards the end of this year.

With the ageing Z4 ending its competitive life last season, BMW entered with the new M6 GT3 and the car has received rave reviews for the unparalleled handling of the new chassis. Already seeing some success on the racetrack, the new M6 has very quickly taken over where the Z4 left off and finds itself at the sharp end of many a GT3 field. Powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, the power train has dry sump lubrication and generates up to 585 hp – with the whole car weighing less than 1,300 kilograms.

By way of the official Assetto Corsa Twitter account, the guys over at Kunos have confirmed the M6 will be making an appearance in Assetto Corsa during 2017. No details on when a release can be expected, or indeed if it will be a free standalone car or part of a larger DLC bundle, but keep your eyes peeled at RaceDepartment and we'll let you know as soon as more news is available.

In other news, Stefano Casillo has shared a preview image of the improvements made to reflection quality in the upcoming version of the sim (see below). The visual tweaks coupled with potentially significant gains in performance can only mean good news for fans of the Assetto Corsa.

Very Nice , I saw the Rowe Racing BMW M6 GT3 winning yesterday the Total 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, ( Blanqpain Endurance Series ) great to come to AC....It,s time for the new Audi R8 also coming to the game :sneaky:

I just don't understand why complain about GT3 so much, they are the best series in the world atm, most popular too, fun to race plus they are all different to drive.

Wasn't really complaining about GT3's, it was more the sentiment that even with 10+ GT3 cars in the game somehow WEC-style racing wasn't possible that I took issue with. Yeah, I realize GT3 and GTE are slightly different, but it's close enough for sim racing and you can come a lot closer to WEC-style racing than I can to DTM-style racing, or BTCC-style racing (which gets my vote for most entertaining series in the world), or Group 5-style racing, or RallyX-style racing. So, yeah, the claim that you can't do WEC-style racing got my goat. I also realize that Kunos don't get to pick and choose what cars/series they get licenses to, and I'm looking forward to the M6 GT3 as it's probably my favorite current GT3 car, but there's so many other cars I'd rather have before it. To each their own.

@Pablo Cortes that's Ferrari 330 you got in place of Alfa, which btw I would love to see in game to pair Ford GT40.

It should be this.

@Sunny Sky Speed I think MC12 vs Mclaren F1 GTR would make a bit more sense, but if we get MC12 Corsa as a Step 1 or smthn then yeah 750 HP would make perfect competitor for Zonda.
hahaha damn it google.. it still looks just like a pimped racing version to me o.O

Lol, no not my profession, just trying to do my bit for the community :) Sometimes gets hard with a full time job and young child, and that's why my practice for the various leagues and club races I do starts 1 hour before the race begins :D :D
hahah well if you race like that with min practice.. you would probably run top 5 all the time with some more practice time

A lot of people would consider it silly, but I think it would be nice to have a stock car (NASCAR) in the game. Those can be thrashed and bashed like proper touring cars in close battles, they are quite spectacular on the road courses that are included in the Sprint series. They are pretty brutal and analog, no proper downforce for road courses and rather straight forward handling characteristics should make for some thrilling battles. Too bad Kunos already said that it won't happen, well, if you want American racing, get an American sim. I just think AC gives the best feeling. Maybe an Aussie V8 car (pls make it a Volvo).

Awesome that they're doing another fantasy road track, always a nice break from track racing. They should really do a season pass for all the DLC with some discount, so the community is less likely to be split.

I know but I want official content. I am specialy tired of having always the same tracks from one game to another... G V track is only officialy in iracing and it's such a great track. Common Kunos pretty please.
That's one of the things I like about AMS, many of their tracks are not seen in other games. I'm so tired of driving the same "popular" tracks over and over in every sim I own.
