Community Question | Best Racing Game of All Time?

Trackmania United/Nations Forever is my choice! I love that game, so many memories. Good times.

Then I would put the Forza Horizon series and Racing Simulation 2 (what a brilliant game that was).

Formula 1 97, Automobilista and Grand Prix 4 for me - I can´t choose between them.
F1 97 was meant to be a birthday gift for my brother but instead I ended up putting thousands of hours into it and becoming hooked on anything historic F1, which for me is 1997 backwards in time to the fifties.
Automobilista is the best current sim for me by a long chalk, and with the historic mods and AI, I know it´ll be on my hard drive never to leave.
Last but not least - Grand Prix 4, when the 1997 mod came out it was a dream come true. It still has the best AI by a distance - check out this AI battle below..
Nothing gets closer to making you feel like you´re in a GP weekend, dynamic weather, pitcrews, right down to the TV cameras - which make the whole experience look like a real life broadcast - with none of those unnecessary special FX like motion blur, DOF etc that you don´t see on TV.
It has a fantastic community who have made amazing tracks and cars, the latter of which can be found in many other sims, rF2, AC etc and which don´t look out of place at all.

Have to go with GTR2 and GTLegends a close second. There are no other games I`ve played as much. Because of the seemingly endless amount of mods (good and not so good) they never grow old. I like AC, too, but my machine hasn't enough power to play it properly. And playing just time trails or race two cars isn't as much fun.
A nostalgic mention goes to Test Drive titles which was my start to sim racing (althought I don't think we called it that at the time) on a Commodore Amiga.

I think I have played most racing titles for the last 30 years but for unknown reason I always come back to GTR2 : the MODS and all the talented modders from this friendly community bring something really rare and special that no other sim has except the more recent AC perhaps... I also must admit that I enjoy from time to time the codemasters f1 series for the instant fun they give you :D

The original Outrun Arcade machine in the 80's. "Mum! Mum! Can I have 50p?"

My more modern favourite is the everliving juggernaut that is Assetto Corsa.
