AC CLASSIC Fat-Alfie Championship, Round 1 of 6 - Thompson Road, Tue 17th October 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
I really would like to use the newest skin added to the Ford Escort RS1600 skin pack, one of my best friends is married to the granddaughter of Erik Berger ;)
But I cannot find it in the list, why is that?

screen split on Mode Sreen Triples

I thought me and Barratt touched after the jump and that he went off because of it. But no, we never touched, and I ruined my race by waiting for him
But at least you did the right thing, done it many times myself, can be annoying but thats been a Gentleman driver as what this is all about..

What a race! I just checked the replay again to see if I did anything wrong in the decisive lap shortly before the end, but I think everything was fine. You have to take the jump curve on the inside, otherwise you can't go full throttle. Too bad for Jason. Good for my blood pressure in the end.

I would never have expected the result in my life. I know that there was a lot of luck for me.

Great event!

The "right thing" was unfortunately now also the idiotic thing. I don't mind doing that if I later notice that a collision hasn't been my fault, because at least then there has been a collision....
Now I noticed from the radar that we were close, and right after that my car made a small jolt to the right, and I saw that Richard who had been on my left side was sliding off the track.
I didn't think that waiting for Richard would cost me as much as it did, but that whole lap was a disaster because I completely lost concentration.

At least only 5 best races count, right?

Well luck deserted Allan and me, first was just a racing incident, I had assumed he would run wide at the first corner, unfortunately, thought, thought wrong, sorry Allan. I was not going to leave it at that, hit Allan on the last bend, my only excuse is it hit a bump under braking and threw me into Allan.
Oh well if you don’t succeed, try, try again and I did.
Enjoyed my race with the Rs1600, I thought it was a nicely balanced duel., one I enjoyed immensely.
:)

Mika, that's a real shame for you and sorry our great battle ended like that.

Watching the replay I also couldn't see any contact. Basically I think my off was just the result of me being off line over the jump, sorry.

Also great battles with Paul and Allan, basically it couldn't have been closer guys!

Results analysis is here

Thanks everyone for turning up. This promises to be a great championship with some mega tracks coming up.

My own pace wasn't too bad and my 9th was probably all I deserved. Still I managed to stay out of trouble and had a nice battle with Ernie for the last 10 minutes. I know Ernie's game - sit on your tail and hope for a mistake :) I managed to keep him behind in the twisty section and the 1600 had slightly more pace down the straight to hold him off.

I'm away next week so I think han is cooking up some bonkers combo for you. See you in two weeks.

I didn't quite get my qualy lap together unfortunately but starting from P2 I had a good run on Hank. Richard tapped the back of my car twice going over the bump and that sent me spinning off.. Let's call it a race incident. I was at the back of the field and eager to climb back up asap and drove into a lamp post on the first lap as well. Again to the back with quite some distance now. But considering I was 17 seconds off the lead in P16 after the first lap and I finished P2 10 seconds behind the leader having to work my way through I am going to take this as a win.

Well done Hank and Jason who was flying after his stop.

That was a fun race. In practice and qualy I couldn't find the pace of the faster drivers.

Starting mid pack i was a little worried about how the race is going to go but i managed the best start possible. from 8th to 1st by the exit of the hairpin. i was not expecting that and now i really had to find that missing pace and managed to keep Hank behind for until i had a run of bad laps and he got past. A couple of laps later I pitted to try and get some clean air. The fresh set of tyres worked miracles and managed some good lap times. Hank didn't take tyres and came out of the pits a few seconds ahead of me. putting those new tyres to work i slowly caught up and saw an opportunity for an over take, how wrong i was, outside on the jump ended very badly, looking at the replay i could have turned in a lot earlier and would have been fine. Ended up bringing it home in 3rd, happy with that considering my pre race pace.

Well done hank for the well driven race and Laurent for the great come back after an unlucky opening lap.

One of the worst races ever. I struggled a lot with the Alfa. It was very unpredictable during the race. What seem to work in one lap, didn't work anymore in the following.
And in the hairpin before the straight I lost almost a second on everybody else. The car wouldn't turn there. I must have screwed up the setup.

Well two weeks to figure that out.
