ACC Release 5 real vs virtual 7.jpg

The latest preview images of the upcoming Zolder Circuit for Assetto Corsa Competizione showcase stunning attention to detail.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is due the update treatment next week, and with it comes a laserscanned version of the Belgian Zolder Circuit - arguably one of the most historically significant permanent racing venues in the region, and a classic drivers favourite across numerous disciplines of racing categories throughout the world.

Set to make a first appearance in the Assetto Corsa franchise as official first party content, the new virtual Zolder Circuit will of course benefit from laserscan technology, joining the already released and highly detailed versions of the Nürburgring, Misano, Paul Ricard and Hungaroring currently available at 'release 4' stage of the Assetto Corsa Competizione development lifecycle.

With patch day anticipation building amongst the community, Kunos Simulazioni have taken to social media to post some very interesting comparison shots of the simulation vs real world location - images that really do showcase the incredible attention to detail Kunos have lavished on this exceptional racing venue.

Also set to land as part of 'Release 5' will be the epic Emil Frey Jaguar G3, the new car making an appearance in the title alongside Zolder and various enhancements to the online multiplayer and driver rating system. Release date for build 5 is expected to be on January 16th 2019.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is available on Steam Early Access now. Currently at build release 4 status.

nowt strange about it i started with 1 aoc monitor on my rig 32 inch and one 56 inch monitor in my lab running off my gtx1070 then a month later a gtx1080 then LATER decided to go triple screens on rig and still had 56 inch in lab
i then bought two matching 32 inch viewsonics same as my original aoc 32 inch and the RTX2080 but then was told by nvidia with the rtx the triples have to be the same if i wanted the lab monitor on i would have to turn off the triples to do so!!
Now I have the gtx1080ti any monitor combination is successful
NO RTX MIXED MONITOR FLICKERING DISEASE
What would you do ??
four 56 inch screens or four 32 inch monitors just to cater for the RTX CARDS ?
or like me get rid of RTX till nvidia sort thier mess out
old aoc in centre two viewsonics

now with 3 viewsonics

and a 56 in me lab

Am I reading this right that you wanted to run 4x screens. 3 in your simulator and 1x elsewhere but the RTX wouldn't let you do it?

I run 4 screens happily off my 1070, 3 in multiview and the 4th above them for telemetry / Netflix.

Kunos better add native triplescreen and functional VR before people lose interest. Additionally the broken multiplayer (d-sync, race logic and crashes) must be addressed. Also the frozen servers (which makes your game crash), pixelated mirrors, poor anti-aliasing, low-res textures and aggressive lods must be fixed, but I'm sure they will find an excuse to brush it off and put the blame on Epic Games ("it's nothing we can do about it, because it's not our engine..."; as they put it in your 1st acc interview @ 28:50) and Unreal Engine.

I agree. I don't think i've bought a game without triple screen support in the past few years. The lack of response other than "we'll look into it, but its not supported" is a bit worrying. I've not been playing much because of this.

Aside the amazing buildings reproduction in every detail, it's impressive how this guys nail down the materials treatment.

Rubber looks like rubber, metal looks like metal, cement looks like cement, wood looks like wood.

I know a "king physics sim" where metal looks cardboard, cement looks cardboard, wood looks as cardboard and tyres don't respond to track temperature.

I have to say, the accuracy of these images is amazing. It's impossible to tell the real and the virtual images apart. Obviously, you probably need a PC with a I7-9800 10,5 GHZ, 128 Gb of RAM and a GTX-7800 64Gb card to run these graphics...:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

More seriously, I'm getting my brand-new PC next week. I can't wait to run ACC on it. Even with the graphics turned down a little, this is still an excellent game so far.

I'm glad that Zolder is the next track. I really love to drive on that circuit, even if in my mind, it will always the place where my hero Gilles Villeneuve lost his life.

To give you an idea i just recently replaced almost my entire computer so now i run a 2070 and a i5 8400 and the game runs smooth as butter in 1080 with settings at max, i give myself lots of headroom so i run it with less options on in practice. I used to have a 5 year old 4460 and a reasonable 1050ti and it was a bit harder. Still ran at minimum settings quite fine just not in the main straights on races for some reason. Someting to do with the AI or whatever.

I too changed my PC last week. I run a i7 8700 3.2 ghz. I have a GTX1070 8 GB, could not really afford a more powerful card (I'm planning a trip next summer, so I have to be careful with $$$). Haven't tried ACC yet, but will do later tonight.

Are the trees from the laserscan ignored? Their placement seems at random. Textures overall are pretty, an improvement over the first Assetto title.

Edit: If data is captured from the scan, plotting it shouldn't be the issue. If it is discarded or other troubles prevent so, then ok.

I imagine it is simply not practical to position or even model trees after laser scan data.
Usually laser scans are generated and used only along the actual track layout, surrounding objects are produced and placed according to photographic references.

If you would try to use laser scan data to ALSO model track side objects as complex as trees the effort to create a track would explode and would simply not be viable. It is technically possible (with many additional obstacles such as trees moving during scans, trees having to be scanned from several angles to achieve a relatively complete point could to create a mesh, additional ENORMOUS increase of data to compute, etc ...). IT is just not practical with current technology.

what he means is to put the trees in the same place at least,
