ACC British GT Series - Round 3 @ Snetterton 15.05.23

Assetto Corsa Competizione Racing Club event
Morning - just a reminder to have the rain light on tonight please.

Also due to the limited amount of grid slots for this track the entry list will be enforced. If you haven't signed up yet and want to race please sign up before 7:45pm bst

Having checked your times for other rounds that's fine. @Trox is it too much of a pain to adjust Piero to Am?
I can switch him over after tonight’s race, I suspect his points will change as he will be finishing in a higher position for previous races

As I predicted. It's not fair to the other AM guys. I prefer to stay in Pro and not deceive anyone. I will finish this championship as a pro and at the next championship I will be an am. The important thing is to compete. See you tonight. Have a good day.

Driver briefing

Not much to say for this one other than the obvious thing of lack of grip and visibility so take extra care. Rain light on if it does turn out wet.

Be patient when following and brake earlier than you would normally then modulate the brake to get closer to the back of the guy in front safely.

If you are in a position where you are under attack please make the move to defend the inside line early and clearly . Don't leave the door open and slowly pull over during the braking phase.

USE THE RADAR - If you want to survive don't turn in if there is a car even remotely near your inside. Go wide and cut back.

See you all later

Hello guys.
Unfortunately I won't race tonight...
Family dinner just came in, so I'm using my "joker" for tonight :(

I'm a bit pissed cause that's the first track of this series where I practiced this much :coffee:
Hope you guys have fun in the rain :)

congrats to Rob and the podiums.
grr got a sg coming out of the pits, went to switch the hud to check delta times and "it" turned off the pit-limiter.... how annoying. then raced the whole lot on cold under pressurised dry tyres... thems the breaks i guess.
looking forwards to putting that right next week.
have a great week guys.

I decided to went for slicks in L4 and overlooked my pit crew. Never happened before, I'm getting old.

I think i was behind you. You seemed to carry on driving up the pitlane then reverse. It was very confusing for me and quite comical! You still beat me in the end!!!!

My Race Report

Only a couple of practice laps again, work has been too busy to have more than a few hours free to race.

Qualified in 9th, about as good as I could have expected.

At the race start I gambled, reverting back to a dry setup and dry tyres but had to guess the pressures.

My initial launch was great but had to back out of it by Turn 1, worked my way through the pack and up to behind Chris as he moved in on Andew Sebastien. We both got by and my pace was great at this point setting the fastest lap at this point of the race. Chris let me past and worked on matching my pace for the rest of the race.

At the pits he pitted a lap before me, I corrected my tyre pressures and came out in front still, holding it to the end of the race.

Brilliant fun and high pressure as Chris wasnt more than 3.2 seconds behind me at any point of the race!

Race report:
Like most of us, I only practiced for this in the wet. Had a couple of pressure options for wet and cold, or slightly wet and a bit warm.

Quali went good for the conditions. Picked up 3rd.
Should have committed to the dries, but hoped the track was wet enough. Gained a position at the start, then lost 2 for Chris and Rob. Decided to pit around lap 3 or 4, forgot to take out fuel I had added to the first stint and came out with 90 liters. At least fuel was not a concern! Then on to drive a track I never drove in the dry!

As Andrew did not pit, I had net 3rd, from what I understood, maybe a bit more as I had good pace at the start, even with low tire pressures.
Then I made two huge mistakes and missed the braking zone into T4, which promoted Johann into net P3.
Then it was a matter of consistency and trying to keep temps in the tires, still got close to making a move on Johann, but had to push too much which cause more mistakes. P4 in the end.

Congrats to Rob, Chris and Johann.
On to learning Oulton Park.

Now I really need a predictable wet race. Maybe a 2h race in the wet....? @McFlunch is going to send a curse my way! :roflmao:
