Reiza Studios have deployed a new update for Automobilista 2, adding a few new historic Grand Prix cars to the title as well as the delayed Silverstone DLC release.
  • Silverstone 2020, 2001, 1991 & 1975 DLC released.
  • F-V10 Gen1 class added.
  • Lotus 49C and Brabham BT26A added to F-Vintage Gen2 series.
The slightly delayed new update to Automobilista 2 has arrived, and it looks like the wait has been worth it, as Reiza Studios drop a number of new historic Grand Prix machines to the simulation, as well as publicaly releasing the Silverstone DLC pack and its four variants of the famous British venue.

AMS 2 Update Notes:

The new Automobilista 2 update adds plenty of free new cars, several developments to championship mode, a completely revised track limit penalty system, many AI adjustments along with the usual batch of improvements & fixes in other game fronts.

The track limit penalty system & regulations have now been completely revised to adhere more closely to real racing regulations and for better consistency. A more detailed explanation on the rules for track limits as of v1.0.2.0 will follow shortly.

This update also brings the home of British Motorsports to AMS2 - the Silverstone Pack features several historical iterations of the track through the decades along with its current layout - unique fast flowing challenges perfectly suited to the cars that raced on them!

This pack features 4 distinct versions of this legendary track from 4 different decades - 1975, 1991, 2001 and 2020; additional layouts for the main track in each era will be gradually added in future updates.

This seems to keep coming up for some reason so I guess it’s worth clarifying again: All AMS2 track meshes with the sole exception of Azure are original Reiza models; we have used SMS props and buildings in some of the british tracks and a few others still upcoming, and they have some of our stuff in PCars3. We also have some of their cars, but these will always be free additions to the game - ecen if we naturally still do physics, audio and livery design for them and we still have to license those models, the costs involved in that often way higher than what it costs to model these assets. Same goes for Hockenheim, fact we had the model already doesnt mean we can keep re-releasing it without paying the license.

In the end this is about two studios collaborating with each other, allowing both to deliver content faster and for a lower cost (or no cost at all) - you’d expect that to be seen as a good thing by anyone that actually enjoys simracing :) our goal is to make the best, richest game possible for our users and if there’s a path with less resistance to it we are happy to take it.

On the topic of DLC & pricing, while I understand times are tough and not everyone has the disposable income or the interest in historical tracks to make this an instantly worthwhile purchase, it feels a bit odd to argue about the merits of a body of work that took months of man-hours to produce to an end cost that is generally less than as 12-pack of cheap beer... The historical versions alone of these tracks involve specially laborious research and crafting, often adds substantially to the track license compared to licensing the modern version alone for something that ultimately is destined to a small group of afficionados within the small group that is sim racing. If you are not in it I certainly wouldn’t expect your money, but something not being worth the asking price for you shouldn’t be reason for any reasonable person to try diminish the work and efforts involved in producing it :)

Since @Renato Simioni is active here... There are a couple of problems with driver animations. Are the team thinking about implementing a no driver hands option? It has been in every sim (except for the PC series) and it would be great to have. I drive every other sim without in-game driver hands.

Good job by the way, thanks and keep it up :)

Question for any Australians out there (or Reiza employee):

The Hot Air Balloon pic. I notice it say "Fasters" not Fosters. Did the beer company make a balloon say that specifically for the track, or is that Reiza's way of not advertising a beer company...?

Just curious ;-)

Do you happen to know which real f1 car inspired the F-V10 Gen1 car ?

I would almost say, Williams FW17, but i could be totally wrong. :D

I think it's a "mixed" car. It looks like the FW17, but the steering wheel is from the McLaren MP4/12.
The front looks like a Williams, but don't know if bargeboards and everything are from Williams.
Maybe having a livery would help

Not an Aussie, but I'm pretty sure it's a way to not advertise a beer. The same way they didn't include JPS, or Martini or Marlboro for their Formula Retro

Those who have bought the Silverstone, is it worth the $10 USD?

This is such a personal preference decision. Is it worth 10$? depends on so many factors and most of them have nothing to do with the quality of the work that Reiza invested in this DLC.
I can only tell you why, at this point in time, I am not interested in it.
We are asked to be patient, waiting for the mountain of issues to be fixed by Reiza and to enjoy what we can in the meantime. I think it is only fair for Reiza to be patient as well, as I am going to be patient and wait for the mountain to transform into a mound before adding any more content to my AMS2 game. I may enjoy what I already have, or use something else altogether, as so many others do, judging by the attendance numbers from steam charts.
We all need to be patient, this is the way,

no biggy. :D
Everybody else can do what they feel will make them happy.:)

My friend, you can already lock to horizon ... Set "world mouvement" to 100 and there you are :-D
Setting world movement to 100 does the exact opposite of lock to horizon. You want world movement at 0. (Why does this setting confuse people so much? I don't get it. It's literally called "world movement", as in "how much the world is moving".)

I really like Reiza and their attention to detail, if there's anyone that could pull this off its them...but... there's still too much PC2 in AMS2...its a feeling i cant shake, my go to car to compare is the Ginetta GT4, and it feels quite odd :/ dunno why... if i grab the Ginetta in AC from Shaun Cole or even the GT4 in ACC i really like them and they feel natural in AMS2 its a weird car with huge weight shifts on turns , i understand i may be wrong but its just my feeling :(

I can't wait to buy a track from Project CARS 2 so I can drive it in the Project CARS 2 engine with a car from Project CARS 2! I might even buy the Hockenheim DLC I already bought 3 years ago.

Easy to pump out 2 DLCs in 20 days with this much old content!
You're wrong.
Though its the same track location, its definitely not the same track model done by SMS.
And there never was a Silverstone 1991/2001 layout in pCARS.

Its easy to bash somthing you don't know. Seems you're just trolling by spreading fake news

Something that gets me is when people complain, "it's too expensive". What does that really mean ? Is that the product exceeds any reasonable price based on the income to the targeted consumer ? Is that certain people want to buy things that they can't afford and therefore the product price should come down to their income level ? Is that the person complaining doesn't understand the amount of effort to bring a product to market? Are the consumer expectations out of whack with what the product does ? Is it because a competitive product with the same features cost less ?

To me sim racing, for people who love racing, it really dirt cheap. If you take a sim title, buy every DLC that it has, you might totally be out of $200.00. Add reasonable wheels and pedals maybe another $500.00. Decent PC to run it on, maybe $600.00. The software is the cheapest piece of the puzzle.

I made myself a spreadsheet to look at all the costs I have incurred on this hobby. The game titles aren't the issue. Example, my total expenditure for sim racing software is $744.00. The computer I built to run it on $2,252.98. I won't even go into the wheels, pedals, chair, monitor. I think some just don't have the funds to do things they enjoy to the fullest. JMO.

You can start sniping now :whistling:

Simracers complaining for a change... This community is sometimes depressing in its insane and unrealistic expectations (want it all now !!!), nitpicking over this or that, and generally not understanding on how sim (or any complex software for that matter ) development work, in incremental steps. Sometimes I wonder if this entitled community does not just deserve sim racing to just collapse for good, or having no other choice than to lap in GT3 @ Spa for eternity. It would be amusing if one day, no studio wants to make a modern sim anymore and all is left is Gran Turismo 10 and Forza 15.

I think Jerez and Kyalami are from Pcars 3. Jerez is confirmed to appear in Pcars 3 so far.

The trackside quality is a bit different from other tracks Reiza makes. SMS tracks tend to have better quality for distanced objects.

No offence to anyone from Reiza. Personally, I find SMS tracks has pretty good trackside quality, not so much on the mesh. Especially old tracks from pcars 1 that is horrible at today's standard.

And Pcars series ends at 2. For me.

there is no Kyalami on pcars3, so that doesn't make any sense

"having no other choice than to lap in GT3 @ Spa for eternity"..wait, isn't already like that?
