Reiza Studios have today deployed the first official Early Access build for their new Automobilista 2 racing simulation.

It's here folks! A new build of the much anticipated Automobilista 2, now publicly available in Steam Early Access has landed!

Release announcement in full:

Automobilista 2 is finally here! We are very excited to be able to share what we have been working on all this time.

Please note that as an Early Access release the game is not yet complete - Time Trial & Championship mode are currently disabled but should become available over the first few weeks of Early Access.

Below are some further known common issues and limitations of:this initial release:
  • UI & HUD are still deep in development, and currently feature the essentials for all game modes to work - this will be expanded with new options & features over the course of EA, with same pages being completely redesigned.
  • Early Access is exclusively in English for the time being; Localization to other languages should only be added in time for the full Release.
  • Driver names, suits and helmets are generic for all series as the whole system is being reestructured (also part of requirements for a revamped Opponents settings and the Custom Championship Tool);
  • All 3D driver animations are still placeholders and may not fully fit the car yet;
  • Other Car-related 3D animations have not been exported which mean suspension arms are graphically static, damage is very limited and wiper are not operational
  • Some series still have WIP or placeholder liveries - these will be updated or expanded over the course of Early Access

The are many other substantial updates to every front of the game planned for Automobilista 2 throughout Early Access and beyond - we´ll be posting regular updates to inform what´s coming up the pipeline as we progress.

FORCE FEEDBACK

Default FFB settings are designed for Logitech G2X series - if you have wheels with stronger motors you should scale those settings down to avoid clipping.

A more detailed guide for FFB settings will follow up soon.

FOR THOSE WITH AMS2 BETA INSTALLED

Upon this release AMS2 BETA owners will have two AMS2 apps in their Steam library - the Beta and this Main Release.

Both apps will be the same as of tonight and for the next few days until the next AMS2 Beta update (which may or may not be also deployed to AMS2 Main depending on the importance of the updates).

If you are an exclusively offline racer there is no reason to install the Main Release of AMS2 - you may continue using exclusively AMS2 Beta. If however you plan to race online or run Time Trial mode when it becomes available with non-Beta users, you must install the Main Release.

If you have further questions about AMS2, please make sure to check on our AMS2 FAQ here

Remember folks, although the simulation has moved from closed beta status, the title is still very much in Early Access state. Don't load up expecting a fully realised and finished title just yet, but I'm sure you will agree with me that the road to V1 status is going to be an exciting journey...

AMS 2 is available now via Steam Early Access.

Having trouble with the game? Post a new thread in the AMS 2 sub forum here at RaceDepartment and our exceptional community will help you out!

I'm on the fence about that game, mainly because of the cars included in the game. They just don't appeal to me much. Lots of fictional open-wheelers and the Brazilian stock cars don't mean much to me: I never watched that championship and don't plan to. Also, I already a full plate with ACC and R3E. So, I'll wait for me reviews.
If you aren't into unknown content, this isn't the sim for you. If you want to drive and stay with big brands, there is other stuff out there, that will give you more for your interests i think. :)

How do you guys set up your paddle shifter in AMS2?? When Im in menu and set up for upshift and downshift my pedals it get recognize it but as soon as I start a session and wanna drive out the pits I cant shift from neutral to 1st gear and so on. It only works with the Automatic transmission atm. What Im doing wrong???? Can anyone help me please?

Silly Question #1:
Is it currently possible to view timing data for all of the laps you’ve run like you can in AMS 1? The timing screen in the pit box seems to just show one lap.

Silly Question #2:
I use a non-FFB wheel. Since there appears to be no explicit “off” setting for force feedback, my gut is telling me I can probably just ignore the settings in the FFB tab as long as I set my wheel type to custom and calibrate it. Any reason to think otherwise? Should I actually change the values in the FFB tab to zero?

Refunded, why does every car drift through the corners like a rally car ? to me i felt the same PC2 handling. The force feedback was average at best on my t 300. Wasn`t blown away by the graphics either good but not great. The menus WOW ! something from the early 2000`s I know its EA and all that but its pretty much what i expected from using the madness engine, will pick it up in a few years for a £5, now back to ACC, AMS2 should have used the UE4 engine.

I read mixed opinions, just like with the Betas. Still a long way to finish the game apparently. It´s OK, time will come.

I will wait until v1.0 is out and perhaps a bit more until the Sim is polished, as I usually do. I'm
fine and covered for now with Live for Speed, rFactor 2 and AMS 1.

Thanks guys for your reviews and upcoming video clips of AMS 2. I keep looking forward to them.

Graphics:
On par with an ancient relic of a sim
Better than the industry standard
Not as good as an ancient relic of a sim
Head explodes

I'm gonna try one
Physics:
On a par with Pcars 2
Better than ACC
Not as good as Pcars 1

I see you point but.... By the quality of graphics I mean the result in VR. For me iracing does VR the best, then come rfactor2 and AMS2 and pcars2 (all three on par for the moment) and only then comes ACC which has big performance problems and is not as sharp

Tested a little bit.

What is bothering me is the camera shaking so much, moving up and down over hills even though I set movement of everything to zero.

Over sensitive brakes, you touch the brakes and the wheels lock right away, I cannot understand the decision behind such a thing, since cars should not behave like that.

It's also a shame I don't have a shifter, feels like I cannot properly use most cars.

So its only possible to use most the cars with an H Shifter? Because my paddleshifter dont work in the sim and I dont know why? Only can drive in Automatic and this sucks

My impressions...

Graphics: on par with rfactor 2. Better than ACC, not as good as iracing.
Sound: better than rfactor 2. One has the feeling to really be there.. more vivid and alife. But ACC still king
Physics and fbb: depends on the car... Really like the f-trainer and p3. Many cars are still far from realistic
VR: good. On par with rfactor 2. Some grayish shine in it (like a bit of fog, even when set to sunny)
AI: needs work. Many accidents, cars going airborne, shocks and jolts do not seem realistic (in the ffb), a lot of wavering (going left and right without reason)
Runs fine in VR (valve Index with oversampling 150) with 15 cars on a AMD 3600/GTX 2080 super

So lots of promise!!!

ahahahahahhahahahahah...jesus ! eheh on par with rF2 and better then ACC :p not as good as iracing , those mushrooms are good quality !!!! lol

There's a lot of cars, but it seems most of them are H pattern or sequential. You can use them without a shifter but yea, it's not that cool/good without it.

Thanks for your answer. But my problem is that my Paddleshifters get recognized while I set it up in menu but wont work in the sim. Do you know maybe why? Have I done anything wrong?

What I really appreciate about AMS2 ( first played yesterday ), is how predictable the cars behave once you lose traction - it feels quite natural to get the car back under control. I find iRacing and rF2 to be generally quite good in this regard, while with AC / ACC, it's almost as if your front tires turn to ice for 1.3 s. Maybe it's me.

Thrustmaster T500 RS

[ EDIT ]
Also great looking game. The weather and time of day and headlights and those ****ing puddles!
Over 60 FPS on my Ryzen5 2600x, GTX 970, 32 GB RAM, SSD, etc, etc
