Australia & New Zealand

Thanks for the ideas Rhys. There are some interesting ideas and I'd like to consider them in conjunction with any other possible Leagues that may be planned.
Off the top of my head, my biggest worry would be the number of participants needed to make this successful. eg. it needs enough participants to fill 6 classes in the RDARC League, and 3 classes in the RDAGT League.

Our current numbers are not that high (especially if we were to restrict it to Oceania Members only), so the number of people in each class could be rather low.

The number of Aussie / Kiwi tracks is a bit limited, but I don't think that presents a problem.

I was going to post this in the other thread, started by Cam, but maybe it is appropriate here. Racedepartment is currently starting to plan the 2009 WTCC League. Unlike the 2008 league, the timezone will be based much more towards the Euro timezone, so the chances of significant Oceania participation is very low. I have suggested that maybe we should consider running a Oceania class for this League, using an identical format, programme, schedule, except held in an Oceania timeslot for Oceania Members. In other words we have our own Oceania Class within the League, making the Admin side fairly simple, and attracting most of our Oceania Members.
Nothing is decided yet, still just an idea, but also another option for an Oceania League.

Indeed. Of course, with RDARC, the grid could be condensed to one 24-car field, with 4 cars representing each model if it didn't attract enough participants, the same procedure as what I outlined with RDAGT.

Yes, there is a huge gap with the amount of tracks in our region. Still, if there weren't enough, there would be no harm in making the tracks mostly international. However, don't forget that Gunthar said in the V8 Mod thread that people at FVRFactor.com were in the progress of building Australian tracks.

I'd certainly race in that! :victory:

Oceania Season 3 Final Results

Oceania season 3 draws to a close after Imola, and the results are here: http://www.ysuprogramming.com.au//race07/standings.php

Here is the season 3 championship podium:

:first: Michael Stead on 418 pts
:second: Rafael Barbosa on 295 pts
:third: Wally Masterson on 284 pts

Congratulations to Michael who was untouchable in the lead for most of the season. He was the only driver who scored a result in every single race.

There were 65 drivers who had at least 1 race in season 3!

Congrats to the Podium and to everyone for a successful season.

Massive thanks to Wally for doing the points table. The effort put in by yourself has made the season's focus and motivation continue for its entirety. Thanks mate!

Congratulations to Michael for his huge win, great consistency and speed.
Well done to Raphael and Wally, very close result for the podium.

Huge thanks to Wally for maintaining these points and helping with the organisation. I'm sure it has helped to keep the grids full for most races.

Inter Club Series for Australian / New Zealand Members

Good news for all of our Aussie and Kiwi members.
We have been invited to participate in an inter-club series to be held for Australian and New Zealand participants. One of new RD Oceania members is currently running an Australian community which is in early stages of development. To kick off their activities, they are planning a short series (probably three races over three weeks) using GTR EVO and GT Pro class. It is expected that up to 6 clubs may participate, and the number of entries per Club will depend on the level of total participation.
We need to pull together a team to represent Racedepartments Oceania Group (but priority will be given to Australian and New Zealand Entries). I realise that some of our Oceania Members are also members of other teams which will be participating, but I hope we can get a strong team to show the Racedepartment colours.

Further details are available at http://www.motorheadz.net/ who will be hosting the series on their own Australian based server. The race night is yet to be finalised, and is negotiable between clubs, but Saturday night is likely.

Here is the basic concept:

Club v Club challenge

Concept:
-To create a league that will promote simracing.
-To promote sim racing clubs and the benifits of league racing.
-Encrease the membership of all clubs.
-Create an intense atmosphere of compitition.
-Maintain all individual club leagues.

*Room is divided evenly between clubs eg 3 clubs = 8 spots per club.

*Clubs can have any active racing member drive for them.

*Drivers can only drive for one club at any given time.

*There will be both driver and Club points.

*NO RESTARTS.

*FILSCA rules will apply. LINK

*Reserve Drivers: Each club will be able to call on any of there drivers to fill there allocated spots.

*Custom skins would be used.

*Replay would be made public.

MotorHeadz.net can host the event.

Most important right now is to get a list of interested participants to represent Racedepartment Oceania.

So far Cam and I are available and are included in the organisation committee.

Please post here if you wish to represent us in this challenge series, it promises to be a lot of fun.

Potential RD Reps

1. Warren Dawes
2. Cam Wedgwood
3. Michael Stead
4. Andrew Dawes
5. Olaf.j Linortner
6. Rhys Gardiner
7. Chris Rodgers
8. Jari Vinnari

More support needed for STCC Events

We have our regular STCC Event this Saturday (about midday) as a joint plan with the USA Group:

http://forum.racedepartment.com/club-gtr-evolution/12279-stcc-mantorp-friday-january-23rd.html

A few of have joined the recent events, I can assure they are a real blast. Very close racing, very tight and interesting little tracks, and lots of different people on the podiums (anything can happen in these short intense races). They are run in really good spirit and everyone is very clean (of course we all have a few spin-offs in these), but that is part of the fun.

The Americans are still outnumbering us Oceania guys though, so it would be great to see some more Aussies / Kiwi's joining.

Guys, I will be able to participate in these events now, due to Eric Kaczmarek sending me a little birthday present through Steam... :cake:

Eric, if you are reading this, thank you so much into infinity, I'm still blown away by what you've done for me!!!
