Australia & New Zealand

Oh, free? I read somewhere it was free if you pre-ordered GTRe? I didn't notice any steam downloads (and I bought the GTRe expansion). Do you have to do something special to start the update?

I might consider getting it, even if it's just for the extra tracks. GTRe left me underwhelmed, I have to say... the cars feel funny and slippery to me... so I'm not majorly enthused to get STCC.

Wally if you love the WTCC cars, then you'll be happy with STCC. It is basically more cars and tracks for the touring cars, with some nice racing rules (pitstop strategies) included.

To check if you received the freebie (but I think it was only for those who pre-ordered EVO thru Steam), open Steam, go into the My Games page, and see if you have STCC sitting there waiting for the download to be resumed.

I think EVO will become better with some practice driving these cars, it adds a lot of variety but is very different.

Wally, I feel the same about Evo to be honest... Just haven't gotten into it at all. STCC is brilliant though and worth it for the tracks alone!! I'm even keen to go through a full offline season just for the heck of it.

Additional Events or Games

Since I am heading off for a few weeks holidays, I thought it might be a good time to throw out an idea / question for our Oceania Group.
The Group is quite strong now with regular racers every Sunday night.

Is there any interest in organising an additional night and maybe introducing a different game eg. GTL or rFactor. That way we could run lots of events on Aussie / NZ tracks (since Race 07/EVO has so few). I personally love GTL and I know lots of you may have that game too, but of course rFactor has good Aussie mods such as V8 Supercars.

If we did this, we would have to go for a mid week night I think, so maybe the time differences may be a hassle, but I'm interested in your thoughts.

Please throw in your comments and I'll review them with Cam and Wally when I return in a few weeks.

I love racing, I'm a big fan of F1.
I go to uni, studying Japanese, and Spanish
I've had GTRe for a month or 2 now but don't get to play it much because of uni and work commitments. I use a Logitech Momo wheel.

I also own GTR2 but have almost never played it, again, because of uni and work.

I would rate my pace as medium. I know a lot of the theory of setting up a car, but I haven't had much practice because I get impatient and just want to drive. Thus, I'm not a hot lap specialist, so I just try to be as consistent as possible.

I haven't got enough posts yet but when I do, I look forward to some nice clean racing.
