Assetto Corsa v0.5 released

Update: v0.5 is now released. Find the patch notes here: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/assetto-corsa-v0-5-released.80625/page-7#post-1618812

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15 cars left to get (well 16 with the LaFerrari, but this car will only be available with the 1.0 version of the game) so which ones are we getting friday ?! In theory we'll get 3 cars, but since we had a massive break we might get 4 like we did on Xmas. My guess is, we will get factory cars (bunch of Lotus's...) and none of the GT3's/1 GT2 or F1's.

The car I want the most is the T125 !!! release it already :p

Well guys and gals, lets share the car you wish on getting this friday and also what you believe will be release (it might not be the one you really expect yet).

At least you guy's are able to test the update. I sold my wheel and am waiting on my new setup for next week. Double excitement, new setup and update for AC for me next week. :)

Ok, I know it's in beta and Kunos guys probably already know about all that stupid behavior, but...
Seriously? The level of stupidity reminds me of Shift 2 - there the AI also used to do do all kinds of crazy stunts.
You're arriving at a right hand corner next to an AI car? Worry not, you'll get pushed off because the AI simply turns left just before the corner. Why not? Everyone defends like that in motorsports!

You're close to an AI car at the apex? He'll just slam the brakes to make sure you hit him and slow down or even spin out.
OH! One more thing, that annoyed the crap out of me in Shift 2. Your car gets unstable after even the slightest brushes, while the AI cars are like tanks and you'd need to hit them at full speed to move them. I'm serious - one car spun me out once, so I stopped on the track. Another car came along and didn't bother with avoiding me, so I got hit. Guess who got pushed back onto the grass while the other car kept going without even losing much speed... :unsure:
Yyeah... Right now I don't have that much problems with keep up with the AI's pace. Heck, I was lapping over a second quicker than the leader in the Abarth500 race. Also, I find this race on Alien level actually easier than on the lower difficulty levels simply because the AI isn't so damn slow on lap 1...
At the moment the challenge of winning those events lies in the necessity to get through that pack of lunatics in just 5 laps and avoid getting hit, spun out and otherwise brutally murdered.
So yeah, the AI still needs some work, but at least it's a start - at least they don't get fed up and stop when you pass them :D

I've only had a chance today (major pita network issues with a new fiber connection) to run the Supercar race and the Arbath 500. I'm not a fan of the 458 Itialia personally but I gotta say its the 1st time I've enjoyed driving the 500.

Purists might hate this but its like a little dodgems race and really enjoyable. I know some people are crazy to win every race, thats cool, but its the 1st time in a long while I've just had a bit of childish fun in a sim without having to break out NFS and completely detach my brain stem. Its a great way to lure in the non-simmers in to AC for a bit of fun.

This is one of the aspects I'm really liking about AC. Yes it can be hardcore but Kunos also know how to just have a bit of fun without going all arcade on it. If it were an FPS it could switch between ARMA and BF without going all COD.

Can't wait for a smashup 500 race in MP with you guys. Roll on 0.6. Enjoy.

AI needs heavy tweaking...I'm no alien, but I get pretty close to the best lap times...despite this, the AI cars are able to charge up behind ridiculously. They seem much slower in the corners but outrageous on the straights...agree with what others have said about the hitting, to it I would add the lagging of the driver when touched as well as their aggressive shunting on straights.

@ENDR From watching your video, it seems the car that swerves in front of you is avoiding the car in front of it (about 4 or 5 secs into the video). Sorry, but that doesn't seem too unreasonable to me, as you were a long way back

That AI owned you :D

It might look like that from this angle, but he still had some room - he just didn't realize that and tried to dodge :rolleyes:
Besides, that's just an example of that kind of idiotic behavior that I bothered to record. In the ~2 hrs I spent today I had quite a few contacts like that while not even braking into a corner. The AI simply suddenly decided, that it's not keen on giving up its position and that swerving to the outside might be a good idea...

Meh, you were kinda too far back to be honest.

Really happy with graphics performance with AI, yes they need tweaking(I'm not complaining about that,it's the first AI we have into the game) but my two concerns are about the 5 sec penalty even if someone hit you off the track and the red arrows/indicators that when you are between many cars it's so confusing and distracting.
Is there an option (in game or a .cfg file) to disable it?

Too far back to do what? Attack?
I stayed behind at the start to avoid all the carnage in turn 1 and that's why I was on the OUTside of the last AI car. If I wanted to attack, I'd most likely do it from the inside.

There's a config option for everything :p

\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\proximity_indicator

[SETTINGS]
HIDE=1

\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\cfg\gameplay

[OPTIONS]
USE_MPH=0

Personally wouldn't have put my car there, especially considering the massive roadblock ahead. The A.I. had to kinda avoid the guy in front, yes he somewhat over-reacted, but he didn't do anything I wouldn't expect someone who starts in last place to do :p
