ACC release 6 delayed.jpg

The sixth instalment to the Early Access Assetto Corsa Competizione has been delayed.

Initially expected to drop on Steam Early Access this Wednesday 13th February, Kunos Simulazioni have taken to social media today to confirm the update won't be out on time, and anticipate they should be able to deploy the new build containing the Monza circuit and the Nissan GT-R GT3 to the simulation next week.

The statement in full:

Dear Early Access users of Assetto Corsa Competizione,

As you might know if you follow our activities on the official support forum, after releasing the first set of multiplayer features we decided to re-write some of the gameplay logic elements related to session handling, race timing and penalties, which manage both single and multiplayer game modes. The decision came in order to make improvements to the overall game structure, and ensure that multiplayer features are as efficient as possible to suit our goals, since they are a highly important component of Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Refactoring is never an easy task, but the good news is that the surgery has been successful. The code is recovering well, but we need a bit of time to properly test all aspects of the title to make sure all functionalities and updates that will arrive in the 0.6 release work as we – and you – expect them to.

Therefore, we now plan to release v 0.6 next week.

The new build will include the Monza circuit and both model years of the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 cars, 2015 and 2018, which – for the time being – will replace the 2018-spec Honda NSX GT3, previously expected to be released in February, and now scheduled to be included in the 1.0 version of Assetto Corsa Competizione. The reason for this change is that we simply require more time to finalise the NSX package to provide you the best possible virtual counterpart of this amazing racing car.

To most early adopters, these slight changes should not come as a big surprise, since they are part of an early access programme: nevertheless, we would like to thank you for your patience and the amazing support we have received from you, which is the key reason why we continue to work hard to deliver a simulation game that can meet your expectations. As soon as we have more info to share and a confirmed launch date, we will let you know

Sincerely,
The Kunos Simulazioni Team

Never fear, we've still got plenty of goodness from the release 5 content to pass the time until the latest build arrives for the simulation in the near future.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is available on Steam Early Access now. Currently at build release 5 status.

I admit that I did not enjoy ACC at this stage. The game feels unfinished with numerous problems while the content is still really limited. The driving does not feel as good too with a strange understeer feeling. AI is not fun to race, I hope they are not taking years to have the AI at decent levels like how long they took for AC. I understand it is an early access but it felt like AC early access had more variety in content.

I am a bit disappointed that NSX won't be in the next content update. It was one of the cars that I am looking forward to.

I really hope they can get the Lexus GT3.

I don't think you do.

The driving does not feel as good too with a strange understeer feeling.

That's not strange. That's normal. Baseline set ups usually tend to have understeer set in.
In fact pretty much every car in real life, whether a race or road car will have understeer depending on how you are driving it.
If it never understeered at all, then maybe there would be a problem and we would be asking why they have made AC Outrun.

Personally don't think the AI is all that great but they are a massive improvement over the AI in the EA of AC - they would weave about the track in some weird tank slapper when you got within a certain distance for example - while i have yet to see too many odd bahviour from the ACC AI.
They may be a little 'follow thy leader' but not many games or sims get AI working brilliantly for everyones tastes.
The alternative is the Online Multiplayer. And the vast majority of the time the AI puts real life drivers to shame.
You will be lucky to have 3-6 in a full lobby who know where the brake pedal is and how to use a throttle properly.
If the AI behaved like real people we'd likely smash our PC's up in a rage.
And take to online social media to tell everyone how **** it is!

Is this game playable with a controller? my wheel is broken :(
Yes, it actually works pretty well with an Xbox controller.
My wheel is also broken, already. (Brand new Fanatec CSL Elite +, which in turn damaged my Fanatec steering wheel. 2 months old. Broken. Due to the slowness of Fanatec (they want to repair my wheelbase LOL) I will be out of action for possibly weeks. So I'm forced to use a controller.
It's actually pretty fun.

I suspect Marco & Stefano are cracking the whip over at KS and they may have gotten a call from Mr SRO that it's better to look at everything again about his product and then to release it as a beautiful diamond when ready:)

I look at the situation this way. The team paid me to test the software which otherwise I would never have seen, they gave me new content on schedule even though they elected to do a major re-write. I'm OK that they want to take more time, even a month if they need it.
In the end we will have a great title with some fantastic cars! If you were with the program from the beginning you have to feel so good like you stole the product!

Delay...why?:O_o:. Just release cars with the same physics, nobody will know (kind of placebo counterpart effect)
All we want are Pcars 4 graphics that will smoke a GTX 2080ti with full VR in 8K @ 200Hz:whistling:

Kunos will deliver an highly polished product in the end, I have zero doubts about that.
Getting in early and being able to play as it develops is a bonus.

Like all games, even after the official release it will still be patched, added to and fixed for years to come.

I love this new business model which both ACC & KartKraft have adopted, giving us the opportunity to buy the game for a massive discount off MSRP, play it early if we choose to do so, as well as both watch + contribute feedback as it develops.

That sure beats blindly pre-ordering for a small discount or even full price like most other games.

AC servers are still busy and will be for a long time so am not bothered in the slightest, to be honest.
I think it will take a while after ACC release before it will come good. its taking iracing years to get its online structure good, hopefully, I'll be ready to get a new pc that can handle ACC in VR
