Assetto Corsa 1.3
Physics

64-bit natively supported and car physics calculated on multi-thread. The physics engine has been reworked to become completely multithreaded: as a result, the driving precision is augmented, the accuracy further improved and the physics solver has enough horsepower to completely resolve any difficult calculations any speed, achieving butter smooth Force Feedback and complete elimination of signal noise and vibrations. We'll be back with more details on physics updates when the new build will be released next week.

Graphics
2D/3D models, textures and shaders have been updated and improved, in order to keep the standards reached with the latest content. Now windscreens receive shadows, and a new camera facing feature improves the rendering of 2D/3D objects on track. A first basic support for dynamic objects on tracks has been added as well, and it will be improved in future updates, with the aim to get a more immersive environment.

Sound
Fine tuning and improved algorithms for audio editing: all new cars benefit by use of new techniques of recording and sampling for engines, interiors and exhaust systems, also thanks to the technical cooperation of Akrapovic. This allows to recreate a more detailed audio trace and the exclusive detail of each car, improving the immersion while driving. Content that are available already in Assetto Corsa will be updated during the process, to bring them to a higher level of realism and in line with the latest quality standards.

Multiplayer
Dedicated server has been optimized in order to improve general stability.
New parameters and features have been added to server configuration, in order to please the requests of gamers who are looking for a more comprehensive online experience.

Get ready to experience the most advanced driving experience!

I seriously doubt that AC will be anything other than the greatest hot lap simulator ever !

How about Dream AI and Dream MP ?

The game needs improvement for sure, but to be fair i have had some great online racing with Assetto Corsa.Multiplayer depends heavily on a good server and good pings,or you still get warping. If everyone's ping is 100 or less it works well from my experience.

Public online AI (humans >.<) aren't much better. Worse actually, in several occasions. At least AI can pass alive on Monza start and turn 1. But is getting better, thanks to support from kunos, and from Minorating plugin, and probably soon from raceme.io
And AI is also receiving improvements, but I don't think in 1.3 or 1.4 it will be the dreamy AI we're dreaming of.

lets hope you have to eat those words at some point in time. its slowly getting better, slowly. i reckon a year from now the ai shouldnt be decent, it needs to be if they want the console market to be hooked onto it.

Yes it IS slowly getting better since the release in November 2013 but with the current pace it will probably be past 2020 before we can actually enjoy decent AI and by then there surely must have arrived something that top AC.

Out of a couple of hundred attempts on MP I have had perhaps 2 or 3 awesome races but that's all.
The rest has been a complete mayhem.

On most tracks the AI isn't even aware of me and usually take me out on lap 1.
It's beyond frustrating so I just went back to hotlapping !

Multiplayer depends heavily on players who respect other players.

Unfortunately there are VERY few of these humans these days since most of theme are even more stupid than the AI drivers..

I have no hope left for humanity and that's why I need good AI ;)

ridiculous... it already has decent AI

I don't like AI either atm, but it will never beat human opponents
although most of them are far worse than the crappy AI
if you join leagues it improves drastically
and even now and then I can have a decent battle online in a public server
but they are rare idd...

The most important issue for me with online racing is that it's extremely rare to find a track/car/lap combo I like and know, -When I want to race.

Joining leagues was the first thing I did but I quickly found out that some of the people participating was overly fussy about what I consider normal race incidents and just racing in general.

I just thought -What a bunch of idiots saying stupid irrelevant things especially after the race because they didn't win.

Good A I drivers are good enough for me to take care of all my Racing desires so I can get my daily sim racing fix ;)

Yes, I have 2x GTX680m's and it's perfect. To be fair I am using my self created pp filter to make it look it's best at all times, all tracks. Search for blackcelica's pp filter and give it a go. Set your saturation to 85

SLI 760 here, and it definitely works. Have you tried a different filter? Cause that sounds like you just have a bad one. I suggest these ones.
Thanks for pointing this out. I had given up on trying pp as I had assumed it simply wouldn't work with sli.

So I tried your pp suggestions. Bernd's made AC crash on track/car loading. I re-installed it and it did the same thing again.@blackcelica 's worked, looks good, but the fps cost is too much for me. It's taking my fps, with triples, from around 80 to around 60 so I'm not using it. MAybe if AC gets massively optimised, I'd reconsider using the PP.

Do you find that PP costs about 20% of your fps?

No not at all the pp photo one allows me to run on almost maxed out settings but I'm only running a single screen so I can't vouch for tripples. I have heard that sli is not a fan of tripples and some graphics drivers are better than others. Maybe hunt down better performance with tripples, sli and filters across the forums and see what tips that turns up?

Thanks for the tip.
The thing is, other than pp problems in AC, I think I'm getting fairly good performance with my two 780s and triples. AC is running at 75 to 95 fps with settings on high (not quite maxed), pCArs is running about the same (with settings almost at max) and SCE runs at 100 to 140fps at max settings. I hesitate to change drivers and all in case it's gonna make things worse.

luckily for me I had better experiences in leagueracing
just finished a league at race2play in the fiats and every event was very pleasant and friendly

Fiats :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

That is also why MP fails for me because hardly no one like the really fast cars !

What do you mean by fast cars? Anything is fast compared to a Jeta TDI for example. If you refer to the race cars in the game, they are all 'fast'. If you're looking for GT3/2 action have a gander in the RD Racing Club, plenty of 'fast' cars there and plenty of 'fast' drivers, all respectful and very talented.

Your Denmark location should be good for the EU races and you'd help fill the grid.

If you're just looking to plug and play and beat a couple of AI at Monza without crashing in the first chicane and overtake 234982 cars then I get why AI is important for tose that dont have the time to sign up for an event.

However if you want to improve as a simracer and really hone your craft, then racing online with others is the only sure way to get there. AI simply will not behave as a human driver able to make decisions on the fly (ex. block lines when exit is compromised due to a mistake entering the corner, change pit strategy to cut the gap or overtake you in the pits). I race offline to test/create setups, improve track knowledge and push the limits before I enter a race to be better prepared and not hit ppl when I brake too late :p.

With the new update I'm confident we will see incremental improvements across the board, maybe not collosal but def changes in the right direction.

ON TOPIC: Any news on when this will actually drop? @Chris Stacey @Akis @Joao Alves
AC is slowly getting there and I'm happy to see slow improvement rather than none.

The latest word from Stefano still says the end of this month, barring any major bugs.
