Was wondering what the proper sequence is to try and create a new ai line using this tool. I drove lines for side_l and side_r. Do I then need to drive a new fast_lane line, then exit and rename the file removing the candidate entry and then restart a session holding the shift key? Or do I exit after recording left and right lines, then restart holding the shift key and record a new fast_lane line?

I'm just a little confused on how exactly to get my left and right lines incorporated into the fast_lane file.

Hope that all makes sense. Thanks for the help...

exit after recording left and right lines, then restart holding the shift key and record a new fast_lane line. You will need to promote the candidate before AC will reference it.

a lot of variables here
My two cents - try

After updating to CSP 0.1.36 from the 0.1.25-140 almost all python apps don`t show up in game despite being enabled. This fixed it.

If the AI Line Helper is not loading in game please try disabling the Custom Shaders Patch. I've been getting reports that CSP may be causing problems with apps loading, and at this point I've not been able to recreate a loading issue with the AI Line Helper, so I'm not sure what needs fixing/adjusting. :(

Hey @Esotic I was just wondering if it were possible to code into the app the ability to use a wheel button to trigger the recording? Would be awesome to set a wheel button to start recording each needed line; left, right, fast lane and pit lane. I''ve borked many a pit line recording fumbling for the mouse to stop the recording—especially while in VR.

Ctrl+F4 is the only hotkey in the AI Line Helper at this time, and that's for toggling partial line recording on and off when you are updating a line that's already been recorded.

I don't think I'd be able to make hotkeys to control the "Start Recording" and "Start Pits" of the AI dev app, since that's built into the game itself. Some of the AC apps that add "hotkeys" are simulating mouse clicks on the screen (like for the old pit menu app), but since the AI app gets moved around it may be difficult to figure out exactly where to click when converting a button press into a hotkey. I'll think about this, but no guarantees there's a good solution.

I figured that would probably the case, but thought I'd ask anyways, just in case! :)

I think I know what could be the issue here. People need to activate the App in their Assetto Corsa Settings, in general options > UI. Then it shows up in-game.

Hi guys, maybe a dumb question but I created a track and set the left and right track boundaries using this app. Worked great! The AI does a great job racing against me, however during practice they stay don't move at all in pitlane. I have recorded both the fast lane and the pitlane properly, as they did leave the pits before I recorded the sides. Do I need to include the pitlane in whatever way for it to work?

The pit line needs to intersect with the fast lane both before and after the pits. Basically, drive the fast lane slowly before breaking off to enter pits and when you leave pits go drive over it again. That's usually what I see causing problems.

Thanks a lot! That indeed was the problem. All sorted now :)

@Phantazm the app should automatically finalize the side lines when you are driving the entire circuit from start to finish. If you need to update just part of a previously recorded side line then you can manually finalize the edits without driving the whole lap.

The yellow and red lines should be basically the same, and you have to hold the shift key when starting AC to see them both (at least that's what I remember).

Hi Esotic. First let me thank you for this wonderful App. I am confused about applying sidelines on a A2B track. With version 1.6 you said, this should work. But later in the discussion I think there was a statement, that your App will only work on circuits. Starting the App on a A2B track is not working for me, because I can never enter a second lap and activate the recording. Is there a workaround? Thank you very much.

Is the A2B track publicly available so I can test it? Can you PM me a link to it?

Thanks,

Esotic

Hi Esotic,
Thank you for the AI Helper App.

I tried to make new boundary lines for the C1 Outerloop (not SRP), but they went a bit crazy and once completed they were cutting across the track and made the AI cars go a crazy. I assume there is a limit to the length of track your app works on or issue with the orintation of the C1.

Is it possible to get the app to work with C1, or any suggestions for ways to fix the C1 mod to work better with your app? Alternatively, do you have any suggestions of another way for me to fix this mod as the current boundary lines run off the track causing ai cars to crash into the barriers?

Many thanks in advance

I'll have to look into this, but if the current ai line ran outside the new boundary lines that could cause issues.

Hi Esotic,
thank you, its very kind of you to look at this.

I tried your app on Daytona and it worked perfectly. When I looked at the original line of C1, it went outside the boundary occasionaly , but most of it was fine. When I used your app, the new boundary lines cut across the track at random points.

If you can't get your app to work with it, do you have any other suggestions for software to repair/correct the boundary lines?

Thanks for all your help

Trying this for myself is on my To Do list, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before I have a better idea of what's going on.

I did not have any real issues recording side lines for the C1 Outer Loop (could probably use some fine tuning):

Some notes on this, though... When I create side lines I generally try to keep the speed around/below 80kph. The faster you drive, the less data points are created. I also have a slightly newer version of the AI Line Helper that I will upload shortly, but those updates are meant to help support A2B tracks, and there's nothing in the logic that should change/improve it's ability to do the basic recording.

Cheers,

Esotic
