If you are stopped the spline showed on the app is the one you are on. But if you change the view to an AI driver it doesn't show its spline position.

It would be only useful for doing camera transitions fixes because it gives you 6 decimals. I think ai could use the drs zone app as well for that purpose.

Esotic updated AI Line Helper with a new update entry:

new allowFollowFocus INI option

There is a new option in the INI that will allow the AI Line Helper to follow AI cars instead of the players car. Off by default and should probably never be used when trying to record side files, but could be helpful when you are just trying to read the spline data from the window title or letting the AI generate a groove line.

[AI_Line_Helper]
usehotkey=1
hideicon=1
makegrooveline=1
allowFollowFocus=0

I have an issue, where the app just says: "Ai_Line_Helper" even if I try to press "Track right" the text never changes and no barrier lines show up after a little bit of driving thinking it was on either. No new files are made.

Do I have to make new blank files if the track has no ai lines or files in the data folder first?
[EDIT]: I tried adding a random Fast lane file in the ai folder, and now it says its recording, but no right or left side file is added into the tracks data folder.

A random fast lane? Like from another track? If so, I don't think that would work.

The fast_lane or the ideal_line is the spline that AC uses to provide the API with a floating point Position on Track (PoT). Without this PoT there's no way for the AI Line Helper to associate a 3D world position to the driving line. Also, the side lines are built for the sole purpose of providing boundaries to the fast_lane, so without a fast lane there's really no reason to make side files.

For the very first fast_lane you record on a track I think it actually matters where you start recording it, and you want to start the recording as close to Start/Finish as possible. You may also need to drive at least 2 laps (that may not actually be true). For the first fast_lane it should be fine to record it slowly by just driving down the middle of the track from start to finish. You'll also need to make sure you promote the fast_lane candidate to an actual fast_lane.

Cheers,

Dave/Esotic

Dave, just an FYI, you will need to drive at least 2 laps on an A→A circuit to complete the AI line. As you go past the Start/Finish line, the game will begin to generate the AI line file...where you click on "start recording" makes zero difference, as once you cross the S/F line, it begins recording the line. Once you cross the S/F line after your first complete lap, the game will show you the line you created, but it will be an open-ended line. As you cross the S/F line the second time, the game will close the loop.On an A→B track, you only cross the finish line once, so I think that's why it's done this way. Perfect game-logic I think?

Yes, that makes sense why its not working for me xD
So i'll make a new one for this track since it lacks one to begin with

Thanks Esotic, was wondering the same thing as Two . I'm making the Ai line for mountain pass tracks like Shomaru Pass, how would I do so for an A to B type track? Do I just make a fast_lane one by doing the track form A to B and clicking the "save ai" button on the Ai App? and then create the side barriers with your app?

The save ai button is not for making lines, it's for car modders changing ai behavior/aggressiveness with the brake and throttle when they working on vehicles. For AC to use a new fast lane you have to rename the candidate file. I've not made a fast lane for an a to b track, but if you start recording before start and then stop after crossing finish it may work.

Five Stars +!!!!!!!!! Was able to adapt a process for figure 8 track config.
It took Edison how many times to make the lightbulb work??? That's what I thought.
Thanks David, thanks for your courtesy and support

Glad you got it all worked out!

Hi, i have a problem, the app suddenly doesn't show up in game anymore... Its showing up in CM settings, and it's activated, but when racing, it doesn't show up in the app menu...

Tried reinstalling the app and didn't work.

Any ideas?

It's possible the AI Line Helper is conflicting with another app you have enabled. This does happen sometimes. If you disable all the other apps when you are making side lines in hotlapping sessions that may resolve the issue.

I'm having exactly the same issue! I've been rummaging through this thread and many others to figure out what's going on, i disabled all other apps and still doesn't work. I unzipped the downloaded ai_line_helper as stated in the assetto corsa root folder, I enabled python, enabled the app, still doesn't work ALTHOUGH I do see the app selected within the general settings, it just doesn't show up when on track even after ctrl H or anything...

Any help on this? I'm making my own track and wanted to make as well my own ai. :(

all I have is this:

disabling the CustomShadersPatch is THE last solution for "AI-LineHelper" not working

temporarily rename
steamapps\common\assettocorsa\dwrite.dll

to something else like
steamapps\common\assettocorsa\dwrite.dll.bak

this is the CustomShadersPatch itself, run without it...

edit: we figured it out on

My only solution was to completely disable CSP in CM and AI line helper worked again. But stopped working the moment i enabled CSP again.

I just tried enabling all the various features in CSP and the AI Line Helper loaded with no issues, so I may need help determining the set of conditions that's required to make it fail the loading process. I'm on CSP version 0.1.25-preview245, so this could be related to a particular version or bug in a particular subset of CSP versions, or it could be related to some car and track combinations along with CSP versions. There's a lot of variables here, and there's no way I'm going to be able to test all the various combination, especially mod tracks that are private or not easily accessible.

Thanks for all your information and patience while we work together to figure this out.

Was wondering what the proper sequence is to try and create a new ai line using this tool. I drove lines for side_l and side_r. Do I then need to drive a new fast_lane line, then exit and rename the file removing the candidate entry and then restart a session holding the shift key? Or do I exit after recording left and right lines, then restart holding the shift key and record a new fast_lane line?

I'm just a little confused on how exactly to get my left and right lines incorporated into the fast_lane file.

Hope that all makes sense. Thanks for the help...
