I'm guessing that at RBR before the race they had decided that who ever ends first after last pitstop, keeps the position. The same thing what was going on at Mercedes: After last pits, Lewis was ahead and they kept positions, Nico asked that can he challenge and was turned down. Seb on the other hand, took opportunity. But this is speculation, not going to turn in to fulldiego here.

According to Mark he was told that he would hold position while Seb just went on and overtook when Mark had his engine turned down. For Merc it was clear team orders. Lewis probably wanted to give the position to Nico guessing his speech on the podium "I feel that Nico should be standing here", but Ross Brawn overrode the decision and told Nico to hold position.

Mark said "Multi Twenty-One" which is Red Bull's codename for hold position for double podium. Mark was in front and apparently he was told that the race was over and told Seb to hold position but Seb did not.

That's what I was looking for! Thanks! Webber did indeed confirm on the podium interview that they had been told that the race was over and to just bring the car home, which is when Vettel started pushing for the win.

Listen to marks words, Sky has more delay than Nbc, my comments were right after Webbers words so i have a full right to whibe as much as u do to protest back.

"MULTI 21 SEB MULTI 21" such a disgusting race. Webber will remember this.

Dirty, dirty driving from Seb. Ignoring team orders when Webber has done plenty to help him in the past. Vettel now most hated driver in F1?? I can't stand him.

SKY pixelated Webber giving Seb the finger. Pathetic. Why can't they show someone's finger??
He has been hated since 2011 , keep up bro hehehe. Inthink Mark is done with RB, he has a better future in another team as #1.

I wonder what utter curse ravaging garbage words will come out of "Dr" Marko defending ONCE again Vettel and harrasing and attacking Webber. Sorry Webber rooted for you once Derp-Alonso was out. Shame shame shame.

One thing is sure, Mark will not respect team rules any more (if that "hold position" code is interpreted right)... wait Helmut... Yes, that seems to be the case, Seb took the opportunity, broke the team rules. Nice little hint thou "basically we treat the drivers the same" but i interpret that as during the race, early season drivers are allowed to race until certain point and then keep position and maximize team championship points but if you come in to flipping the coin, Seb has the advantage. Kind of what we've seen in the past, after that collide in the Turkish GP RBR has been consistent in their team orders: if Seb is clearly fighting for WCC and Mark is not, then it's #1 driver all the way.

Not the best of wins but fuels nicely in to F1 soap opera drama, we get nice underdog favorite fighting against invincible posh brat (Sebs not actually that but nice fellow, i'm just "Hollywooding" this..), Merc drivers being gentlemen (in a movie, one of them, the faster one gets injured...) and the black knight, old school hardened veteran in Black Lotus etc... I guess in that movie, Nico would win the championship...:roflmao: Alonso won't appear in this movie since Sasha Baron-Cohen so wonderfully did Fernando in Talladega Nights :speechless: (Did anyone notice that after the movie Alonso immediately loosened up big time, i guess he had a good look of that character and got a good laugh at himself.. He's been very relaxed since, used to hate him, now i have great respect..)

Summary of the race in one picture

The Pirelli tires make for very unpredictable racing, but we the fans are actually being robbed of seeing the drivers drive as fast as they could go if they weren't constantly having to slow down to conserve the rubber. I would prefer to see the drivers pass each other on the track rather than jump each other because of the 3 or 4 pit stops they need to make.
