2012 Mercedes W03

Yea it seems RBR are the only "grumpy" kid where as Ferrari and Mclaren just knows that this sort of innovations comes along every once in a while and you can choose to react to it or not.

Mclaren might even have some trick system on their car. The downforce of the car seems to be really good but the top speed is there as well.
RBR is probably carrying the most DF but lacks in top speed. So i wonder if Mclaren already possibly have their own take on a passive system.
Or, it´s just a very good car they have aero wise.

Yet last year the shoe was on the other foot, and both Ferrari and McLaren complained about Red Bull, so much so that they changed the rules mid-season.

It really isn't like those 2 are the nice guys of the grid at all.

Those values suggest that Mercedes is running heavy downforce. Which makes sense, because if they actually went for the same amount of downforce as anyone else, their top speed would be through the roof - but they would have to compromise the ratio of the 7th gear badly to make any use of it. And that would really screw them over in the race (maybe save a tiny bit of fuel, but that would definitely not be anywhere near enough to offset the huge disadvantage incurred through a compromised gear ratio).

Which ended up hurting McLaren more than Red Bull :p

Edit:
Some interesting information about the car by Ross Brawn on F1Fanatic: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/04/05/mercedes-aim-crack-tyre-temperature-problems-china/

Apparently the tyres got too hot in Melbourne, so they worked on that problem for Malaysia and were then surprised by the weather on Sunday, which made the tyres too cool :p

I think you can see the DDRS tubes here. Pretty cool if it is that.

Hmm could be the last time we have seen the car. Mercedes AMG might leave F1 with instant effect due to Ecclestones possible corrupt involvements. They would be forced by their own codex. Otherwise Daimler could get sued for cooperating with corrupt forces.

Uhuh... Following this logic they'd have to stop selling their cars in some countries, because of the corruption there.
Racing in a series run by someone involved in a mess like that doesn't exactly make you his accomplice. Leaving F1 because of THAT would be huge overreacting.

Well the problem is that Formula 1 is a concern, so are the manufactors in F1. It differs quiet a lot from what you say, since you don't have to sign contracts with contries to sell cars somewhere else (apart from China obviously). It is not corruption on a political scale but on a economic scale. Daimler stated that they don't have a choice. If their own lawyers say that it would be an infringement with Daimler's own rules to continue competing in Formula 1, they will pull out.

Do you have a source for that?

Mercedes has becoming a Race winning name after the Ferrari. There are somethings that the Mercedes should take into account. After taking this into account, It can win his fame.

anyway, it seems that there are a few updates for Barcelona (obivously) but was is more interesting is a new paintjob.
More silver apparently.

Markus Neumann can perhaps translate the goodies properly? Google translate is not perfect i assume

New front wing
New rear wing
New exhaust (hoping it´s a red bull tunnel!)
Nah, you got it right, just those three things. And the google translation is fairly decent, the grammar is weird of course, but as far as the content goes nothing is lost. He says a new "exhaust variant", which points to something more than just an upgrade, so you might be right. I wouldn't have expected that, since I thought that the RB variant only works/is only necessary for teams with the Renault engine, but we'll see. Perhaps they have something completely new? :giggle:
He also says they want to improve by 1 or 2 tenths per race during the European season, which sounds pretty ambitious to me...

As far as silver & Petronas goes: He says they want to make it look more silver and less gray, no word about the Petronas color.

The last paragraph is translated a bit strangely by google, but essentially he just says that he doesn't expect Mercedes to be the favorites for the win, even though they did pretty well in pre-season testing.

Thanks,
Ok so the paint maybe something between what they have today and the chrome of Mclaren then.

Yea the exhaust i only think is a slight tweak to the current setup to get the exhaust gases away from the rear tire.
So just wishful thinking on the RBR exhaust but Brawn has said they had a RBR version in the CFD that they are evaluating.

They just need a little bit more race pace and more efficient exhaust so they don´t run extra kilos of fuel and they could probably win the championship. The car is very very quick over a lap which is nice to see.
