2009 British Touring Car Championship

well the interview with Mat on the BTCC website has him saying that it will be good to compare himself with someone of Plato's calibre and also Ray Mallock says that it is going to be a very strong PAIRING. So my money is on the pile with the other people saying that Plato will be there.

Oh man that is sweet.

That could be a very strong team.

BTCC taking shape! Plato, Thommo and now Jackson! Sweet. A week to go for a BTCC fix!

Interesting to see how Jackson adapts to FWD for the first time since the Cupras.

Jason Hughes has said the doctor has prevented him from racing at Thruxton, but hopes to be back at Donington.

Also he's said that they are geting the second MG ready as someone has phoned them up about potentially racing it so it will hopefully appear after the mid-season break

Jason Plato is going to compete in the rest of the British Touring Car Championship season of 2009 in the RML Chevrolet Lacetti.
"I'm delighted. We caught lots of peoples' imaginations at Brands Hatch and had a load more interest, even though the world is having a bad time financially," said Plato to Autosport.

The deal started as a one off participation to the first weekend of the British series.

But after the success of the first round, where he scored one win, Plato is looking forward to the continued season with Thruxton up next this weekend.

“Thruxton is of course a very fast circuit and if it was a drag race then the Chevrolet would be looking very good, but we don’t just go in a straight line – we go round and round so we have to get the car working through the corners as well. On paper, though, Thruxton should suit the Chevrolet.”

Recently a lot of big names has returned to the series. Firstly Plato, then James Thompson with Team Dynamics and most recently Mat Jackson as team mate to Plato.

Plato is pleased to have Thompson as his opponent on the tracks again.

"It's great James is back, he's a great character to have on the grid. We exchanged some pleasantries on the phone earlier this week and both subscribed to the view that we will probably make contact at some point at the weekend, even if it's just a gentle love tap."
Sweeeeeet :D
