That doesn't make sense and is a blanket-statement on your part while severely over-generalizing things. How could a "conspiracy believer," as you put it, usually either be stupid or dishonest? Most people search for the truth because they are against dishonesty, corruption, cover-ups, etc. And most are the opposite of dumb but usually quite sharp, articulate, and analytical.

BTW, "conspiracy" just means there is more than 1 person involved. To say someone who believes in conspiracies is stupid or dishonest is like saying that someone who believes human beings lie must be stupid or dishonest...Only a person who is stupid or dishonest themselves could actually believe such a statement in the first place.

There are even laws specifically to charge people and put in prison for committing a conspiracy. Haven't you ever heard of people charged for "conspiring?" Saying there are no such thing as conspiracies is like saying there are no such things as humans lying; it's so far beyond ridiculous and ignorant.

Operation Ajax (Iran Coup)
The US government conspired to overthrow the new democratically elected leader of Iran in the 1950s in order to put an extremist right-wing puppet government. "Conspiracy theorists" have been trying to expose this for many decades. A couple years back, the US finally admitted to this.

The Golf of Tonken Incident
The US government (or parts of it) conspired to lie about an imaginary scenario where 2 US boats were attacked in Vietnam. This supposed attack gave the US the reason they needed to officially go to war against Vietnam. This was a false flag attack that turned out to not even be an attack at all. Years later, it has been found, that there was no such thing as a Vietnamese attack on American boats. The whole thing was a fabricated story and never happened.

Operation Northwoods (false flag attacks in America on civilians)
This was a plan to launch a series of false flag attacks on the American people in the 60s or 70s. The plan included disgusting things like controlling public airliners by remote control and crashing them. Launching an attack on American ships and killing American servicemen. Even gunning down and bombing citizens in America (I think it was going to be in Miami but I can't remember). This was going to be made to look like it was "crazy Cubans" or "evil Communists" to give the USA the excuse to go invade and destroy Cuba. This sick plan was agreed to and signed by all stages of the government UNTIL the last, final person: JFK who signed heck no! This has been exposed in official government documents.

Operation MK Ultra (mind control)
CIA secret mind control experiments for many decades. Victims have even gone to court and been compensated. This has been officially verified like all my examples above.

Unfiltered Mass-Surveillance Program
Edward Snowden (while some before him but not nearly as successful) revealed how the US government has had a mass spying program essentially capturing data from basically every phone call and email. It was also revealed that they were in cahoots with other corporations especially in the telecommunications industry.

John Lennon & FBI
John Lennon used his considerable fame and fortune as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist to influence his fans politically, including vocally opposing the US-led war in Vietnam. As a result, it was frequently suspected by many, including Lennon himself, that he was the subject of FBI surveillance and general chicanery meant to undermine his power and influence in the United States. It was not until 1997, when historians finally uncovered Lennon’s top-secret FBI file, that the truth came to light. These documents confirmed that the FBI considered Lennon a dangerous person because of his deep popularity among the youth that threatened to undermine Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign. The FBI even engaged in a protracted, and ultimately unsuccessful campaign, to deport him.

Sugar-Fat
The focus on fat, all kinds of it, while not giving sugar anywhere near the same attention was a propaganda assault perpetrated by the American sugar industry who covered up research showing that sugar was implicated in heart disease and paid Harvard research scientists to point the finger at fat.

Operation Paperclip (
The CIA secretly conspired to bring over 1000 Nazis after WW2 to live and work in the US to assist in American weapons, rockets, etc. programs and technologies.

CIA and South American drugs
The CIA had vast amounts of cocaine coming into the US from South American drug cartels in order to support the drug cartels and get them to go against their governments which were not American puppet governments and were socialist (US has to always attack countries that don't play by the US's rules especially if those countries are anything else besides capitalist). This is also what led to the crack epidemic beginning in the 1980s.

Elites meeting / Bilderburg Group
This was a conspiracy theory before but it's now a conspiracy fact. You can even see the mainstream corporate media making mention of annual meetings.

Tobacco Industry / Smoking Health
In 2006, a US judge found the tobacco companies guilty of conspiracy and having “suppressed research…destroyed documents…manipulated the use of nicotine so as to increase and perpetuate addiction.”

Young Girl Lying in Court to get US Public Support for War
A young Kuwaiti girl named Nayirah testified that she saw Iraqi soldiers removing newborn babies from their incubators as part of a genocidal campaign against Kuwaitis. The incubator anecdote stuck in the minds of the US public and was repeatedly cited in the media by US President George HW Bush and numerous senators in the run-up to US entry into the war. At the same time, many in the public questioned whether the over-the-top violence of Nayirah’s account was really true. In 1992, it was revealed that Nayirah was in fact the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the US, and her testimony was part of a well-organized public relations campaign to induce American public support for US entry into the war.

Secret Assassinations
The US government carried/carries out a secret assassination program that killed/kills foreign leaders who aren't puppets of the US while putting out propaganda about how those leaders all just happen to be evil. In 1975, as a result of the Church Committee Investigations, it was revealed that the CIA was/is in fact running a top-secret assassination program since 1945.

FBI Spying and Recommending to MLK to Commit Suicide
The FBI spied on MLK for over a decade and attempted to subvert and sabatoge his civil rights activities. The FBI began spying on King all the way back in 1955 during the Montgomery Bus Boycott and intensified their activities in the 1960s as King became acclaimed as the leader of the US civil rights movement. The FBI regarded King as being “under the influence of Communists” (Communism was the excuse for everything) and even sent him an anonymous letter alleging King had engaged in extra-marital affairs and encouraging him to commit suicide.

Alcohol Spiking During Prohibition
When the US famously outlawed alcohol under Prohibition from 1920 to 1933, bootleggers continued to produce alcohol and even resorting to stealing large amounts of industrial alcohols to use in the process. That’s when people started becoming sick and dying. Some accused the government of spiking the alcohol supply with poison, and it was soon revealed that this was exactly what they were doing. The US government, engaging in a rather twisted approach to law enforcement, spiked industrial alcohols with poisonous substances such as chloroform and formaldehyde. It is estimated that over 10,000 people died during Prohibition as a result of these measures.

I knew society was in trouble when the whole "Political Correctness" started to gain traction. It has moved on to tolerance, sensibilities and please don't make me feel sad at anytime, or I will call you ignorant, or worse.

I don't think we are focusing on what's really important anymore. If I were superstitious, or into conspiracies, I would have to guess that we are in the "decadent" stage of this time, and are essentially doomed anyways.

In defense of Spinelli - there is no doubt all countries have their nasty secrets, but in an open society we claim to have and lacking an openly repressive aparatus the battle for the hearts and minds is much more important - control of information is key. So yes, the US being both a democracy and a global super power meddling everywhere has a larger share of exposed conspiracies than North Korea a very localized totalitarian state.

That many of these US conspiracies came to light is also a tribute to the American people. So we know about US conspiracies because US citizens exposed them. Just like we know about the Israeli nuclear program because Vanunu exposed it etc. Spinelli just mentioned some the more known conspiracies.

The US support of the Italian Mafia during the first Italian post war selection, CIA coup against Mossadeq in Iran, CIA involvement in the Chilean Coup (CIA involvement in Latin America is as notorious as it is bloody), The Phoenix Program, CIA involvement in the death of Lumumba, Iran Contra, etc. The British supported the Muslim brotherhood to counter Arab Nationalism, Israel supported Hamas to counter Palestinian nationalism, US support of Mujahideen to counter Kabul and the Soviets, Western support of muslim fundamentalists in Syria to counter Assad. SAS carrying out extrajudicial killings over seas. These are not theories but now accepted facts.

I just don’t know about Russian conspiracies that were exposed by Russians (vs claimed by foreign powers), I doubt that many of us do, because we are less exposed to this sort of information. Every country has its dirty laundry, keeping that secret from its citizens is a conspiracy in the true sense of the word - national security etc being such an easily abused excuse.

All I'm saying is the stuff we "know" about is no where near as bad as the stuff we don't know and as you say we know very little about those "other" countries because they are a LOT worse than the US and the West ever have and ever could be.

Politician are twanks in every country but at least in the west there's a certain level of accountability, unlike other countries. I'm just fed up of the West/US being held up as the worst. At least the west has a chance to get rid of the arses in charge every so often...Im certain there are a lot of Syrians who wish they could do that!

Sim racing elitism, whatever have years of history. Inserting setting, win easy & weird input. The technique differ from real life & the virtual car behavior is quite different, if you start to rip apart every onboard video with all the telemetry. There are some sim racing videogame physic with driving inputs that is borderline unintuitive. It's about acceptance, because the normal on planet earth will remain clueless forever & won't quite get what's appealing in this niche genre if truth is never unveiled.

Even though sim racing get more & more realistic, they're still videogames. It's like those assist warrior... They've been playing the same sim racing games(or one track, one car) for over 5000 hours. Yeah it should be time to turn off your assist, paddles shifter & accept you are simply not progressing.

No, I'm not anymore. And if a friend of mine makes a bad queer joke, I can now start discussing with him why those jokes are uncool and a problem (aand probably not even his real opinion), instead of fake laughing along and secretly thinking "damn, my friend is kind of an asshole" and forever think a little less of him.

It's of course a question of communication skills. If you confront someone with outrage instead of level headed arguments, open for discussion and willing to reflect and question your own opinions, then all you will get back is more outrage.

I can't stand cigarette smoke anymore either. I smelled like that for 10 years!? Yuck. Well, now I smell like fruity flavours and yummy deserts and people still bitch.
I heard about diesels being banned (UK?)...Canada is getting ready to charge everyone a "carbon tax", so we will soon be on bicycles before we know it I guess.. Yet, they won't make any serious move away from fossil fuels because it runs EVERYTHING. Most of that electricity that charges those EV's come from burning natural gas. No?

The problem is two fold.
We see ourselves as morally superior.
We try to force others to follow our lead.
We commit many an immoral crime and hide behind moral excuses.

It is the hypocracy and double standard that is in the face.

Yes other countries are bad too, but in general they don’t openly aim for hegemonic global dominance, not even the most totalitarian of them - not even Magic Mike Pompeo can sell that spin.
