One more update to go for Le Mans Ultimate in 2024: In December, the first LMGT3 cars will debut in the sim, and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo is set to be a pre-holiday gift for players.

The Hypercar grid is complete, and the first batch of 2024 LMGT3 cars is set to come to Le Mans Ultimate soon: The upcoming December pack will add part of the GT grid that debuted as the successor to WEC's GTE cars this season. As promised, a free car will be included - which now has been confirmed to be the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

A favorite of many sim racers in Assetto Corsa Competizione or, more recently, iRacing, the car is mid-engined and features a twin-turbo V8. Two 720S GT3 Evos were fielded by United Autosports in the 2024 World Endurance Championship season with a third entry for Le Mans being run by Inception Racing, but the car has been a staple in GT3-based racing around the world for years, including the non-Evo version.

United Autosports' 2024 WEC campaign was not one that saw great success, with the team finishing 9th out of 18 teams in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams. Three fourth-place finishes at Spa, Interlagos and COTA were the UA's best results in the 720S GT3 Evo's initial WEC season.

Its virtual counterpart follows in the footsteps of the BMW M Hybrid V8 as free DLC, meaning that even if a player owns just the base version of Le Mans Ultimate, they could still participate in races using an LMGT3 car.

Which other cars the McLaren will be joined by in the next update is not known yet, but more details are expected on December 3. A teaser posted in early November seemed to hint at the BMW M4 GT3 and possibly the Ferrari 296 GT3 or Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Additionally, another track of the 2024 calendar should be released alongside the cars, with only Interlagos and Lusail remaining from the list of 2024 circuits not yet in LMU.

The update is set to launch on December 10 - which looks like it will be a great day for sim racers, as RaceRoom will let its Super Touring Cars run free on the very same day. Meanwhile, iRacing's Season 1 2025 update as well as Rennsport's move out of Open Beta and into Early Access are also still on the schedule - not to mention Automobilista 2's long-awaited and just released v1.6 update. Quite the finish to 2024 for sim racers.

I think LMU feels as good or better than anything out there right now. Looks/sounds AMAZING on my system, too. My problem is that I don't care for this discipline of racing or car/track selection. Can't say I fire it up too often. I'll prolly take this new car for a spin when it drops. I would've much preferred that they developed the WTCC game instead.

yeah I kind of agree with you. It's distant third for me behind AMS2 and Raceroom atm, because of its content and also it's not casual pick up and play friendly at all. You really have to put some serious practice in for LMU and while that makes it appealing for some, I reckon they might either be a minority, or over on iRacing already ( which is also a title you have to mainline to get anywhere with ).

Well I thought that was the original plan, to improve ( fix more issues ) with ISIMotor2.5 and release series.

However without support / sales all that is a pipe dream.
Don't kid yourselves, this started back with rFactor and the stink has permeated ISI ever since which is unbelievable considering the sims their engines have powered.

Honestly, imho the biggest fail of our community ever ( shrugs)

Not sour grapes just reflections, I still have rF2 and LMU which without any doubt are the 2 best "driving" sims on the planet imho.( shrugs )

I have no inside knowledge, but the history shows that when a feature request gets this flag it gets into the nearest update.
Interesting, the "coming soon" flag?
I hope you are right.
Most of us, among those who like what LMU brings to the table, are missing one or a few features, which even if we appreciate the veracity, authenticity, great driving feeling, would make us like LMU even more.

This is a fantastic car and i am happy to have it for free
I will also purchase the gt3 dlc.

That said, it is just ridiculous that all studios release content the same day.
It will have no influence at all on my choice to purchase something or not.
Just my opinion

Christmas sales imho is the last throw of the dice.
How community expect studio to improve rF2/LMU let alone survive the current climate is extortionary to me :coffee:

I mean... keybinds for ARB... After several years of rF2 and months of early access, how can that take so long to implement ? Let alone the official WEC overlay, for the official WEC game, meanwhile modders on this very community release track skins/mods on the same week-end events occur for AC... And also looking at that list, the most recent update is 11 July. How many patches did we have since then already ? :roflmao:

Just let that joke of a development studio close, that publisher lose the licence and have someone competent acquire it.

This is a forum screenshot. Posts are made by users. This is not any official S397 list. There are no "updates". They only added the tags. Those dates are dates when the feature request was made (a forum thread was created).

I also don't like several things S397 does, but please don't make a fool out of yourself by looking for a sensation where there isn't one.

Well... How to put it gently... When you sell your product and expect to make money out of your investment, it is all about numbers ;)
my point is the numbers are not related or equivalent to the quality, Forza and Mcdonalds are the best proofs , low quality, high sales, more profits ;), but it's only my own standard of quality ;)

GT3s are highly over rated...

Bring on the private servers so I can enjoy the best developer made hypercars available...

I'm with you in that the driving experience in those two sims are unmatched. But, yah, what a friggin' missed opportunity mess.

I can respect that take...

The whole S397/MSGS saga is really a drain on any true sim racing fan... Almost as much as the Madness engine saga or the iRacing saga... All 3 could of been the route to what we are all waiting for still...

That one magical sim where there isn't something to complain about...

Now the next big hopes are The Last Garage, ACE and iRacings new engine with the man behind the rF2 TGM making the new tyre code...
