One more update to go for Le Mans Ultimate in 2024: In December, the first LMGT3 cars will debut in the sim, and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo is set to be a pre-holiday gift for players.

The Hypercar grid is complete, and the first batch of 2024 LMGT3 cars is set to come to Le Mans Ultimate soon: The upcoming December pack will add part of the GT grid that debuted as the successor to WEC's GTE cars this season. As promised, a free car will be included - which now has been confirmed to be the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

A favorite of many sim racers in Assetto Corsa Competizione or, more recently, iRacing, the car is mid-engined and features a twin-turbo V8. Two 720S GT3 Evos were fielded by United Autosports in the 2024 World Endurance Championship season with a third entry for Le Mans being run by Inception Racing, but the car has been a staple in GT3-based racing around the world for years, including the non-Evo version.

United Autosports' 2024 WEC campaign was not one that saw great success, with the team finishing 9th out of 18 teams in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams. Three fourth-place finishes at Spa, Interlagos and COTA were the UA's best results in the 720S GT3 Evo's initial WEC season.

Its virtual counterpart follows in the footsteps of the BMW M Hybrid V8 as free DLC, meaning that even if a player owns just the base version of Le Mans Ultimate, they could still participate in races using an LMGT3 car.

Which other cars the McLaren will be joined by in the next update is not known yet, but more details are expected on December 3. A teaser posted in early November seemed to hint at the BMW M4 GT3 and possibly the Ferrari 296 GT3 or Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Additionally, another track of the 2024 calendar should be released alongside the cars, with only Interlagos and Lusail remaining from the list of 2024 circuits not yet in LMU.

The update is set to launch on December 10 - which looks like it will be a great day for sim racers, as RaceRoom will let its Super Touring Cars run free on the very same day. Meanwhile, iRacing's Season 1 2025 update as well as Rennsport's move out of Open Beta and into Early Access are also still on the schedule - not to mention Automobilista 2's long-awaited and just released v1.6 update. Quite the finish to 2024 for sim racers.

What makes you say the game is dead, out of interest?
Im not sure about dead but its pretty hard to argue its doing well, 500 peak players on a weekend. Compare that to every other active sim racing product right now and its stone dead last even behind RF2. Its not like its because there hasnt been content in a while, when the last dlc came out in september they only hit 1400 players which is comparable to racerooms daily peak. The odds are not stacked in 397s favour.

the majority likes Mcdonalds and low quality like Forza, the small minority prefers the high quality and LMU or rF2, it's not about stats or numbers, it's about for who it's made, LMU/rF2 are professionnal tools, and I guess with low hardware quality and low skills and low standards, the majority is not attracted by rF2/LMU....even if the pro drivers say the best cars, best physics, best FFB are in LMU/rF2 ;)

Why are they releasing this at the same time as Raceroom? I know the content type is different but it makes no sense to split the public's attention like this.
I know quality will stand the test of time, but the coverage being split between both games will likely mean most people will stick to the one they already know and potentially forget about, or give as much time to, the other.

I confirm, it's strange, maybe release before or after, not the same day, seems like a competition before Christmas.

That's pretty much the same playernumbers that ACC had after more than one year of development. People are pulling numbers left and right and pretty much never put them into relation. You are comparing titles that have established player communities and are on the market since years with a title that is pretty new and still rough around the edges with missing features and more importantly - content. Let's what happens when they release the full product and keep adding more features and content to it. Where is that god given rule that will make it fail because it only has 500 peak players at date xyz?

It's the same release day as iRacing's new update as well as the Raceroom content release. Not sure why they all went for 10th December other than avoid releasing too close to Christmas when they will have a lot of people on holidays ( should there be support issues ).,

I don´t see the things that black and white (am i allowed to say that this way todays ?? :D) like Teddy, because it´s not that important to me if this game or that game is better. I just play them nearly all....

But i admit the games with still best physics/ffb are rF2/LMU. Strange design decisions and other circumstances ensure the lack of success. It can´t be a LeMans Championship Series Sim don´t offer a Championship Mod wtf :cautious:

Fe. i am happy with the progress which RRE and AMS2 made and i give the games much more play time than rF2/LMU. But if want the cherry on the cake ;) driving wise i fire up the Studio397 titles.

yeah, it's about your standards, for you, like I've said. If you like Mcdonalds, why stop it ? just go where you like.

Untrue, ACC had low numbers only during its early access, there isnt a single day after May 2019 that it hit lows LMU is hitting. At the end of the day heres all the context we need these are all businesses and 397's parent is very publicly struggling. Kunos could coast of AC sales increasing after ACC came out, 397 havent got that luxury and they have a time pressure before the debt collectors start twisting their arms. I like LMU much much more than rf2 but things are looking properly rough for them.

My guess would be the Multiplayer and its ranking, which repels people. The ranking is pretty harsh on any small mistakes. There is still lots of unexperiances drivers, which can make your race a disaster, and you also pay the highest price. That's why personally I really don't like to drive in daily races to rise my rank, and advance through it, although I would love too.
They really should have to come up with something different than this. Besides, it really takes tooo much time and races to advance to next levels(s). And you can easily drop down the Rank, by just some unfortunate mistakes.
Else, the game is super amazing, its a pure sim. I like the phyisics of all the cars in dry. Wet weather still needs a LOT of work.

PS: I installed and also uninstalled AMS2 v1.6 yesterday - didn't like anything about it, enough said, the list is way too long to talk about. I really don't get why people love and drive it that much, but the Multiplayer might just be the reason!
